1000 years later…
"Congratulations, Class of 3000. Now it's time for the most anticipated time of the night for most of you students… the awakening ceremony." Right when the principal announced the awakening ceremony, he uncovered an object covered by a red luxurious looking cloth right behind him. A glowing blue orb the size of a basketball sitting upon a pedestal was revealed.
"Alright students, remember this awakening jewel can help you unlock your own [Record of Life], but only if you were lucky enough to be born with one. Since some of the most gifted students have already opened their [Record of Life], we will have these ten students sit aside in a separate area for the awakened." The principal pointed at the area beside the stage.
"Alright we'll start with the highest ranked student that hasn't awakened and go on from there. Please welcome to the stage, the 11th ranked student, Aaron Combs." Once the principal finished his sentence a student with blond hair stood up from his seat and walked towards the stage.
Once the student reached the awakening jewel, he reached out his right hand and touched the jewel. The jewel started glowing an even brighter blue than before. After a second the jewel stopped glowing and bright blue words started floating up from the jewel.
[Speed Up Lv-1]
When the floating blue words disappeared, the orb began to glow blue again.
"Congratulations on awakening. Now will the 12th ranked student please come up." The principal smiled while guiding the newly awakened to his seat next to the stage.
…
"Now will the 21st ranked student…" The 21st ranked student was the first in the class that wasn't able to open his [Record of Life]. Once he raised his hand and touched the jewel, instead of glowing a brighter blue like the others, it instead glowed red. Without being able to open his [Record of Life], he would only be able to live his life as a normal person.
"I'm sorry about your awakening, I hope you'll be able to succeed in the future even without awakening." The principal consoled the heartbroken boy and led him back to his original seat, away from the awakened section.
"Congratulations…"
"I'm sorry…"
"I'm sorry…"
"Congratulations…"
"Now will the 50th ranked student please come up." The principal announced the next ranked student.
"Hopefully I could awaken." A tall but scrawny boy stood up from his seat. He had short dark hair and a brownish skin tone. Before he started walking towards the stage, he heard something behind him.
"Good luck Vander!" Right next to Vanders original seat, a girl with red hair was trying her best to encourage him. She wasn't the most striking or beautiful girl, but she had a balanced and common appearance. With her soft round face, and comfortable smile, she gave hope to Vander.
"Alright Alice. Thank you!" Vander gave Alice a thumbs up and started walking towards the stage.
Vander reached the awakening orb and reached his hand toward the glowing blue jewel. Right when he touched the jewel it started glowing a brighter blue.
'Thank god I awakened. Now I just need to awaken with a good [Record].'
The jewel was glowing brighter and brighter. Once it stopped glowing, the blue words started to fly out.
[Heat Resistance Lv-1]
'Fuck. The most useless [Record].'
"Congratulations on awakening…" The principal congratulated Vander and led him to the awakened section.
Sitting down, Vander spotted Alice getting up and walking towards the stage. Being the 51st ranked student she was up next. Once she was right next to the jewel, she took a deep breath. Bringing up her right hand she touched the jewel. The jewel didn't get brighter or turn red, nothing happened. Until a couple seconds later, the blue light from the jewel started getting brighter. The bright blue light stopped glowing and the blue words started flying up again.
[Low Strength Up Lv-1]
Alice was guided to the seat right next to Vander. Once she was seated Vander gave her a hug.
"Even though our skills aren't good, at least we awakened."
"Yeah, we could join a ranked university now since we awakened." Alice replied.
Sitting next to each other, Alice and Vander were continuing their small talk while the awakening ceremony was still going. The lower and lower the ranks of the students, the less likely they were to awaken. From the 100th ranked student on, almost no one else was able to awaken. When the ceremony finally finished, out of the 427 students of the class, only 73 students were able to awaken. Less than 20% of the students were able to awaken and most of them had skills that were common and weak.
The only students that didn't have common skills were the pre-awakeners. The ten students who opened their [Record of Life] without an awakening jewel.
Looking at the ten pre-awakened students at the front of his section, Vander wondered, 'What kind of [Records] did they receive?'
The principal once again went to the podium on stage and said his closing remarks.
"Congratulations to all those who awakened, and good luck to all those who didn't. Thank you to all the students, staff, and family members who were able to make it today. And remember students, it doesn't matter if you awakened or not, your real journey has just started. May it be more spectacular and exciting than your highschool journey. Goodbye!"
With his closing remarks, all the students stood up and celebrated. Some students threw their cap in the air excitedly, some were in despair from the awakening.
Vander and Alice threw their caps in the air and walked out of the stadium hand in hand.
