The fire and explosion made Vander jump. Principal Perry's surprise entrance frightened Vander to the core.
He wasn't the only one. All the students in the front rows were horrified by the entrance of Perry. But not the ones in the front row. They were more amazed and happy than frightened. The pressure that Perry generated from the entrance was something that no student could withstand except for them.
"Welcome to Moridrange University!!! I am your principal, Perry Foltz!"
Principal Perry's voice thundered across the hall, dazing Vander once again. He couldn't catch a break. From the fire explosion to the loud roar, Vanders body started to freeze up and shiver.
'I can't do this. I can't do this. Is this what a real hero is like? Those heroes at the train station can't compare. What will I be able to achieve with my weak [Record]?' Vander was about to spiral out of control until he felt someone holding his arm.
Alice was also scared. She was closing her eyes and holding Vanders arm for comfort. From her grip, Vander could feel her shivering.
Sitting down, Vander took a deep breath and started to relax. He remembered the recent days with Alice, and all the amazing memories they created.
'I can do this. We can do this!' Vander patted Alice's hand that was holding onto his arm. This helped her stop shivering, making her open her eyes and looking more comfortable than before.
All the students in the first row were standing up and some of them were even clapping. The pressure had no effect on them.
"An elite superhero is something else."
"Didn't people give him the nickname Scary Perry?"
"Yeah. And I can understand why."
"Is this even an elite's power? My whole family is made up of high tier heroes. Some of them could even compare to the principal."
As the pressure slowly lessened, Vander could hear the students in the first row talk about the principal.
'Those students must be the Alphas. And they just said Principal Perry is an elite hero, I knew it'
Of course Vander also recognised the one questioning Principal Perry's power. Xavier wasn't clapping or impressed with the principal's power.
As if Principal Perry heard Xavier's remarks, the invisible pressure that the principal was giving off started to grow again.
"As you know, Moridrange University is a ranked school. The best of the bests. And I, an elite hero, is an alumni of this school. This university can help you become an elite." While emphasizing the world elite, flames started to fly out of Principal Perry's head.
The flames grew until it reached the ceiling, then it formed the face of a crow. The crow made of red flames had an even darker shade of red for eyes. Wings made up of fire started to grow from each of the principals' sides. They grew bigger and bigger trying to cover all the students under its wings.
The invisible pressure from the principal turned into heat, scorching even to Vander with his [Heat Resistance Lv - 2]. Everyone, including the students in the first row, felt the burn this time. Xavier didn't have his smug expression like before, instead he was frowning while sweating bullets.
Clap, Clap. The crow suddenly disappeared and the heat stopped, like it was never there.
"Hahaha, sorry about that. I just wanted you guys to witness what a real elite hero is. This is the power you guys can gain at Moridrange, remember that. Now let's get back to business."
The principal paused, wanting to give the students time to recover from his example.
"We will now start the Opening Day Ranking Tests!"
A hundred people then appeared behind the principal in their own way. Some were just too fast to see, while some transformed into different beasts to get there.
"These are some of your professors. They will be breaking you guys up into groups to make the testing go even faster." Once Principal Perry finished his sentence, he looked at the Alpha students. "Alpha students will personally be tested by me. Let's go."
Taking the twenty Alpha students out first, the rest of the professors started to move. Each of the professors picked a row and took those students, forming a group of twenty. The third row was one of the first groups taken out of the student hall.
The professor leading the third row was a beautiful woman. She had sharp facial features that made her look ferocious, but had glasses that made her look smart and caring. Her long red hair, tied up into a bun, made her look professional and mature.
"I'm Sarah Hart, I will be the professor in charge of your group for today." Sarah introduced herself to the group.
"We will begin with the dexterity tests at Bonus Arena 1-3." Sarah brought the students to a bus which drove them to the west side of the campus. The arena was located close to Vanders dorm.
"Professor Hart. I have a question." One student of the group raised his hand.
"Go ahead." Sarah responded.
"What are these ranking tests for?"
"These tests are to determine your classes and position in the University. The top ranked students will be given positions in the 1st year student council. Classes will be ranked from A to F. The best students will join Class A." Sarah started to explain.
"What are the differences between classes? Is it a big deal to get to class A?" Another student then asked a question.
"If you guys haven't noticed, this city has its own currency, MU Creds. The better class you're in, the more MU Creds you earn every month. Also if you fail your monthly exam, you'll be demoted one Class. So if you're in Class A and you fail, you will be demoted to Class B, and so on and so on. Unless you're in Class F. If you're in Class F and you fail the monthly exam, you will be expelled. So the higher Classes gives you a buffer from being expelled." Sarah continued on answering the students.
"Is it possible to change what Class you're assigned to?"
"Of course. After the monthly exam you can get retested to check if you qualify for a higher Class. But remember, getting retested costs MU Creds… Alright we're here." Sarah answered the last question and brought the group out of the bus.
When the whole group left the bus, four other buses pulled up. A total of five groups, 100 students, were assigned to Bonus Arena 1-3 to take their first test.
