Chapter 7 - The letter

The shopkeeper stared at Yejun in shock—no, terror. But then, suddenly, her expression shifted. A slow smile spread across her face, and her eyes gleamed with excitement.

"That's the one," she said the smile not shifting.

Yejun looked at her like she was insane. "What… was that?"

What just happened? Was he going insane?

Chandra quickly stepped in, checking out the wand before Yejun could question anything further. The three of them left the store in silence. A minute passed. Then another.

And then—

"Yejun, that was awesome!" Chandra suddenly jumped toward him, eyes wide with excitement.

Yejun barely reacted. He just stared at her, his mind still trying to process what had happened. The glowing blue light, the strange buzzing in his ears, the way the books flew into the air—it all felt too real to be fake.

So he just stayed quiet, occasionally throwing in some small talk with Chandra and Doyun as they walked back.

By the time they returned to the hotel, Chandra immediately went off to do whatever work she had, leaving Yejun and Doyun with nothing to do.

The two headed upstairs to their room, tossing their bags onto the bed as they unpacked.

"It's pretty hot today, don't you think?" Doyun said out of nowhere.

Yejun, still half-dazed, barely looked up. "Yeah, whatever."

Doyun tilted his head, watching him closely. For a second, he just stood there, observing, before turning toward the window. He pushed it open, letting in a soft breeze—but then, something caught his eye.

A piece of paper sat neatly by the windowsill.

No. Not just any piece of paper. A letter, the letter.

Doyun grabbed it, his grin widening as he turned back to Yejun his gaze still fixed on the letter.

"Yejun, look!"

He smacked Yejun's head with the envelope.

Yejun scowled, snatching the letter as Doyun obnoxiously flapped it in his face. He couldn't read all of it, but he caught bits and pieces:

Dear Doyun and Yejun,

We have been informed that the two of you have successfully arrived in the magical world. Congratulations! We hope you are enjoying your time here. That aside, Horizon Valley Academy is proud to announce that you have been invited to study at our school for the remaining duration of your education. We hope you accept this invitation. Classes will begin in a few days.

Yejun blinked, then looked at Doyun.

"What…?"

Doyun just smiled and suddenly grabbed Yejun by the wrist. "Let's go! We have to tell Chandra!"

Yejun immediately yanked his arm back. "Can you let go of me?"

Doyun clearly heard him. He just chose to ignore it, tightening his grip as he dragged Yejun downstairs.

They found Chandra in her office. Doyun knocked three times before barging in.

"Chandra, guess what?" he said, grinning like a kid.

Chandra barely looked up, her face unreadable. "The letter came?"

Doyun faltered. "…Yeah." he was hoping to tell her himself but whatever, that works too.

She walked up and took the letter from him, her eyes locked on the letter quickly skimming through it.

"Hmm. Alright… yeah."

Doyun narrowed his eyes. "Mind communicating normally?"
