Chapter 4 - Weapons

Keith woke up the next morning. He lifted himself up and realized that he slept in Kayla's bed. He had a slightly embarrassed look on his face and hoped that Kayla didn't notice. He got out of the bed sheets and walked towards the bathroom. When he was about to open the door, he heard a Kayla's voice saying, "Where are you going?"

"I am going to take a shower," he replied as looked back at Kayla. Her hair was a mess, her eyes were closed showing that she was still sleepy. "Can I come with you?" she asked as she looked at him with puppy eyes.

"No," he replied as he entered the bathroom and banged the door shut.

"I guess he has grown immune," she said as she let out a sigh of disappointment, "I guess I will have to find new ways to make him hid my commands," she said with a dangerous glint in her eyes.

"But don't torture him," Suguru said whilst he was still asleep. "You know how much he hates being tortured."

"I would never resort to torturing him!!!" She blurted out of anger. "I am sorry for shouting at you," she apologized.

"It's okay. It's my fault for mentioning the T word," he said as he drifted back to sleep.

After a few minutes Keith got out of the bathroom and wore his clothes. He then went to his bed and read a few things online that had useful information about the tower and Soul Rifts. There was one thing that piqued his interest. Keith told them everything they need to know about the tower. To be allowed access of floor one to twenty, an awakened individual has to go through the first trial.

The tower gives every newly awakened individual 2 weeks for them to get ready for the first trial. In those two weeks awakened individuals will be allowed entry to Soul Rifts by the government no matter race they were.

The trio were excited because of this was their chance to grow stronger. They knew that in this world or any other world for that matter the weak will always be trampled by those who had power. But the trio wanted to change that system and create a system were the strong protect the weak.

They also had another goal in mind and that was to actually unite the races and stop the animosity and hatred they had towards each other. They humans hated the way they were treated by the dragons and onis and dragons and onis hated the fact that they had to depend on these lowly beings. They knew they couldn't convince them using words but they'll convince them with something that has worked…the use of force.

But to do that they must have the strength necessary to make them comply.

The trio got out of the apartment building.

Cars blurred past the road at supersonic speed. The futuristic city made the trio look at it in awe. The trio had seen many different universes and the technologies that existed in those worlds but none of them could compare to this one.

The trio snapped out of their trance and went towards the nearest blacksmith shop. They wanted to find suitable weapon. They went to the clerk.

The clerk was a woman who looked like to be in her mid-twenties. She had shoulder-width raven black hair, blue eyes and pink lips. Her skin was pale white and she had an hourglass figure.

The clerk flashed a smile and greeted them in a polite tone. "Good morning. How can I help you?"

"We want to buy a katana, a scythe, a bow and 50 arrows," Keith answered.

"That would cost 5 silver soul coins s," the clerk informed them. Keith brought out five silver soul coins s and gave her the money. The clerk went to get the items they were looking for and a few minutes later she came with three boxes.

Each one of them took one box. Keith opened his box and saw the weapon that he loved the most, the katana. Keith unsheathed his sword and so the intricate patterns on the silver blade. He imbued some of his soul essence into the blade and the patterns on his blade glowed a faint blue color. "This will have to do," he thought to himself as he sheathed the sword back into its scabbard and attached to the belt that was the box.

Merlin was doing a lot of tricks with his scythe from spinning it with his right hand to somehow making it magically vanish and reappear.

"How the fuck did you make that 2-meter-long scythe disappear and reappear?" Keith asked with a confused expression on his face.

"A magician never reveals his secrets," Suguru said as he walked off to an arena. "But I will tell you if we have friendly spar."

"Sure," he agreed. They both went up sparring arena and started warming up for the fight. Suguru was doing some light stretches while Keith was doing some push-ups.

"I leave you guys for fucking seconds and you are already about spar with each other!!" Kayla shouted in a voice that sent shivers down their spines.

"I hope you too have a pretty valid reason for this sparring match?" she asked in a low threatening tone that sent another shiver down their spines.

"I... wanted...to know how Suguru did…his magi-c trick," Keith answered, stuttering because of fear. He knew firsthand that Kayla's personality could take 180degree turn. She could be the cute seductive girlfriend at times but when it concerns matters of getting stronger or fighting, she would turn into a cold-hearted army general.

"That is one of the stupidest reasons I have ever heard come out your mouth," she said in a cold tone. "I will punish after we clear the rift," she said as she walked away.

"It was nice knowing you?" Suguru said.

"Don't think that you are off the hook Mr. Merlin," she said as she glared at the both of them.

"So should I buy the ice packs in advance," Keith said jokingly.

"And don't forget the bandages," Merlin said as he started praying for his soul and body to be protected from whatever punishment she was going to give them.
