We were walking through the brush that was at the bottom of the woods. It wasn't too bad since we could step over most of it but the occasional thorn did end up pricking us.
As we progressed we got to one of the camera locations and surveyed the area. It was lush with greenery, more than what was on camera before we got here.
"Watch the greenery, they're growing too fast." I stated as we continued forward.
I wasn't sure what was done to make it grow like this. However If it was being used to hide something we could find it by looking for the area with the densest greenery.
Suddenly we heard rapid footsteps around us. I looked around trying to pinpoint their movements but they were too fast.
"I was looking for you. I'm so glad you came to me!" Something growled from the depths of the forest. It sounded so inhumane it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
"What the hell was that?" Pluto gasped staring into the direction the voice came from.
Sanemi and Blu pulled out their weapons and waited, cautiously observing their surroundings.
I simply stood there unfazed by the person behind the voice. The voice itself was very unnerving, however that didn't mean the enemy was strong.
It could simply be a defensive mechanism to make us run, or something to scare us and throw our game off. That way we panic and become unable to fight efficiently.
Either way I wouldn't fall for it.
The footsteps around us stopped and something lunged from the brush behind me.
I spun backward off my left foot bringing me face to face with the attacker.
It snarled and growled at me as it flew midair, but I remained unperturbed.
I grabbed it by the paw and slung it away from me. However the first thing I noticed was the paw almost felt human.
"No fucking way, the principal is sick!" Sanemi stated with his hand covering his mouth in shock.
I looked toward the location it landed after I threw it. However what I saw was very concerning.
The thing that was chasing us was a small dog-like creature.
It had the face of a woman but her nose was a dog's nose. Her body was still mostly that of a woman, but her legs from the knee down was that off some kind of animal.
It didn't resemble a dog, it was bigger, much bigger. If I had to guess I'd say it was a wolf but I had no idea if I was being honest.
"You must be Tara." I felt bad for her in all honesty, who knows if she asked for this fate or not.
I would put her out of her misery, not just because she was my enemy, but because no one should have to live in such a state.
"Blu, Sanemi, end the poor girls suffering." I asked them while turning away from her.
However due to me showing the slightest bit of weakness she lunged at me again.
"Kamelio!!!!" Pluto screamed pushing me out of the way. I hit the ground and rolled as she landed right where I just was.
I looked in her direction as I swept a kick at her hind leg. It didn't connect and she tried lunging at me a third time but Pluto slid in front of me taking the blow.
I stood up just as he pushed her off him. His chest had a few brand new cuts but other than that he was alright.
"I'm sorry I hesitated boss." Sanemi had a blade across Tara's neck suddenly. He slid it across and then stood there, a lost look in his eyes.
"Forgive us Kamelio, we wasn't ready to face… whatever that was. I think its safe to say the principal has been experimenting on the deceased students." Blu said his head also hanging low.
"It's fine, just don't let it happen again. That also goes for me, we can't afford to hesistate. If we hesistate, we might die before we know what happened. We have to push forward, so take a deep breath! Mentally prepare yourself for the hell we're about to walk into, because that was only the first thing we ran into. It won't be the last." I held my head high giving them all a pep-talk real quick.
We had successfully eliminated the enemy, however morale was low due to the nature of the enemy we faced.
Warren was playing chess not checkers, but we couldn't afford to lose.
"TARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA." Someone yelled, a deep voice calling out to the deceased Tara laying in front of Sanemi.
"Shit, scatter quietly. Do not engage unless you have to, we still don't know what we're up against." I spoke quickly causing everyone to split off and hide in different sections.
We were setting up a potential ambush or a way to gather valuable intel. Either way, we had to be smart to win against our enemy.
"Tara where are you?" The voice sounded again growing closer to our location.
As I hid along with Pluto, I could faintly see Sanemi and Blu in the tree tops watching. However I blinked and they were gone, effectively concealing their presence.
'They are such a dangerous duo, I'm glad they're on my side.'
*snap*
A twig snapping pulled me from my thoughts just as quickly as I had drifted off into them.
A man was standing there in a black trenchcoat. His hands were at his sides and his aura was quiet yet menacing. He was wearing big black boots with black pants and a black button down business shirt. Above all that he had a black hat on that hid his eyes from the world and cast a shadow on his face, obscuring his identity.
"Tara, are you trying to play hide and seek again? I told you that was a one time thing." He spoke softly like he wanted what was best for Tara.
But if that was the case why did he allow them to experiment on her?
Hell, maybe he's the one under the principal who's actually running the experiments, not just overseeing them.
I still hadn't gotten a good look at his face, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't quite make it out.
"Tara? TARA!!!!" He screamed running towards her carcase.
He picked her up holding her in his embrace before sobbing loudly.
"You were like the sister I never had." He exclaimed in grief, then he looked around his eyes showing a fierceness I knew all too well.
"I'll make them pay Tara. I promise." He stood up picking up Tara's corpse off of the ground. As he did so a wind blew by pushing his hat up just enough to where I could make out his face.
My jaw dropped, my heartbeat quickened and I slightly panicked as I looked at the man before me.
'Why didn't I consider this possibility sooner??' I thought mentally questioning myself.
I rubbed my eyes and looked again but his face didn't change. Neither did his temperament as he left.
"Kamelio you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost." Pluto commented noticing my change of expression.
"In a way, I have. That man was one of the students I killed during an altercation between the two of us. It was five people fighting against just me, yet I won. He was their leader." I said my eyes burning with rage, this meant the principal let us kill eachother so he'd have more test subjects, HE USED ME!!!
Still I couldn't believe what I had just seen. The man walking away with Tara in his arms, was none other than Armani, a king assassin whom I killed over 10 years ago.
