The rest of the time, Chandra showed them around the place. Yejun and Doyun would be staying on the 7th floor. As they were walking up the spiraled stairs, Yejun spotted something strange, it was some sort of creature, well a cat to be specific, but the more he looked at it the more irregular it seemed to be, was that even a cat? It looked like one... but not quite. It had bright glowing red eyes and, of all things, horns growing out of its ginger fur.
Yejun froze realizing what he had stumbled upon. "AH!"
Doyun looked over at him, unamused as if he saw stuff like that everyday. "Why are you screaming?"
Yejun pointed at the creature, his hand was still shackingm wide-eyed. "What is that thing?"
Doyun smirked, clearly enjoying Yejuns reaction. "Why, scared?"
Yejun immediately straightened up, trying to keep his cool knowing it was clearly obvious he wasnt quite fond of the creature "No... why would I be?"
Doyun eyed him up and down observing his actions, clearly about to make a comment, but before he could, they heard Chandra call from down the hallway. "Where are you guys?"
She turned around and, upon seeing the 'cat,' smiled as if she'd been expecting this. "Ah, I guess you met Barley!" She kneeled down to scratch its ear. "Don't be scared. It can't do much anyways."
Yejun shot her a look that too obviously reflect his reaction.
Chandra stood up and casually shrugged. "As I said, she isn't dangerous. The most she can do is make objects vanish."
Yejun rolled his eyes. Magic? Please, when will they stop with this nonsense already "You really expect me to believe this?"
"She's lived here for the 45 years I've owned this place," Chandra continued, totally unfazed.
Yejun's jaw dropped, he had to keep his cool! This is all just..fake? "Pfft, you think I'll believe that? Cats don't live that long!"
Chandra smiled, unfazed. "Well, this world obviously isn't normal, so why would you expect its lifespan to be regular?"
Yejun sighed, completely over the nonsense, but Doyun suddenly spoke up.
"Can we see our rooms already?" he asked, voice dripping with annoyance.
Chandra smiled and turned to walk away. "Oh yes, my fault. Follow me, kids."
Her heels clicked against the floor as she walked toward the door at the end of the hallway. "This will be your room for the next few days." She paused, like she was debating something, before finishing, "well unless you get the letter soon."
Yejun ignored her cryptic comment. At this point, he was convinced these people were just all insane.
The room was surprisingly nice—cozy, minimalistic, with a bunk bed on one side. The sheets were snow white with flowers, and the room had a large window in the middle. On the other side, a small wooden table held a manual typewriter, a few candles, and a dead red rose in a glass vase the whole atmosphere was real vintage vibes. In the middle of all this a big fluffy carpet covered the floor.
Yejun was about to sit down when he realized... "Wait, where's my stuff?"
Before he could finish the question, sparks suddenly flew and smoke began to swirl in the room. His ears buzzed, and within just seconds, poof—two suitcases appeared in the middle of the room.
Yejun blinked, mouth hanging open. He had wanted to act surprised, but instead, he just stood there, frozen, jaw dropped. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Doyun watching him closely.
Doyun smirked. "So? Still want to say magic is fake?"
Yejun quickly tried to brush it off, but it wasn't working. "Can you shut up? I won't believe it no matter what," he muttered, trying to sound dismissive.
Chandra, who had been leaning in the doorway, walked over now standing behind the two. "The blue one is yours, Yejun."
Yejun looked at the luggage, and then his eyes landed on the second suitcase. His navy blue suitcase looked normal enough, but the other one? It was pink with black Hello Kitty designs all over it.
Yejun burst out laughing, unable to hold it in. He quickly glanced over at Doyun, waiting for his reaction. "Are you serious?"
Doyun glanced over at Chandra. "Chandra, Are you serious? Why did you pack that one?"
He started to say more but got cut off when Chandra walked forward and stepped on his foot with a hard thud on the floor.
"Respect me, Doyun. I'm still older then you" she said with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
She turned around and started to walk out the room but suddenly she turned back to the two of them, her tone suddenly businesslike. "Get settled. Oh, by the way Doyun?" She looked at him over her shoulder. "Tell me if the letter comes."
