Chapter 31 - Thor and the Hulk

"It's about two things. I need your help." Nick Fury glanced at Tony before revealing what he needed.

"What's going on?" Tohka was a bit curious as to why Fury was seeking her help. She thought she might end up making things worse.

"I had no choice because I couldn't think of a better candidate." Fury sounded a bit helpless. He knew Tohka wasn't actually clueless, but her personality... If he hadn't been desperate for help, he wouldn't have come to her. Now, he could only hope Tohka didn't cause any surprises.

"First, this. This is something we still can't understand, just like your powers. That's why I'm asking for your help." Fury played a recording, showing a silver-white hammer resting on a mound. From the image, anyone would think it was just an ordinary hammer. However, Tohka's eyes lit up as soon as she saw it because she recognized it—this was Thor's hammer.

"Don't underestimate this hammer. We've tried nearly every method, but we can't move it." Fury played a video showing several powerful trucks tied to the hammer. The trucks slowly pulled, with the ropes stretching taut, but despite this, the hammer didn't budge. It didn't stop there—due to the excessive power, the trucks' front ends were ripped off.

"Tsk, the world is getting harder and harder to understand." Tony clicked his tongue in amazement, though he wasn't too concerned due to his palladium poisoning. He knew that no matter how dense the metal, it shouldn't act this way under normal circumstances.

Tohka just rolled her eyes. If she wasn't mistaken, this hammer was made by Odin and his group using the core of a star. It would be strange if it could be forcibly moved. Of course, she didn't mention this.

"As you can see, this is beyond my understanding, so that's why I came to you." Fury was somewhat resigned. He noticed that ever since Tony's kidnapping, the world had become increasingly unstable, with gods, monsters, and everything in between showing up. At this point, Fury shot Tony a slightly resentful glance, leaving Tony completely clueless. "I also asked Professor Charles, and he believes you're the best person for these two tasks."

"Have you encountered mutants?" Hearing Fury's words, Tony was taken aback and looked at Tohka with some confusion. He had no idea about this. Mutants didn't have the best reputation, and if it weren't for Professor Charles mediating, they might have been universally hunted down.

"Yeah, I've encountered them." She wouldn't mention the fact that Hogan had been controlled, as she wasn't sure what Tony would do with that information.

"Be careful." After hearing Tohka's words, Tony just gave her a quick warning without elaborating. After all, powerful mutants were rare, and most were pretty average. He was confident that even without Tohka, he could handle most of them.

"So, what do you think? Do you want me to go over there?" Tohka was still quite interested in the hammer and wanted to see if she could lift it.

"Don't rush on that. I have another matter I'd like to discuss first." Fury then played another recording, and this one was even more interesting.

The video showed a green-skinned giant surrounded by the U.S. military, equipped with the most advanced gear. However, to everyone's surprise, the giant broke through their lines all on his own. The U.S. military's equipment was completely useless against him, easily torn apart.

"I've heard about this, isn't it just something the U.S. military created themselves? Hahaha, if the public found out, they'd definitely be called out for it." Tony didn't hesitate to laugh at them. He was quite happy to see the military get a taste of their own medicine. After all, just recently, they had asked him for Iron Man armor, but he turned them down.

"Are you asking me to go destroy this monster?" Tohka asked, a little confused. She wasn't sure if this Hulk was the one from the comics or the movies. If it was the movie version, she could give it a try, but if it was the one from the comics... she'd better run, as that version could destroy the world.

"No need." Nick Fury just shook his head with a cold smirk. "I just need you to keep an eye on him. This is something the military created themselves, and it has nothing to do with us. S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't a charity organization. I just need you to keep track of him. If things go out of control, just step in and stop it."

"Okay." After hearing that Nick Fury wasn't asking her to destroy the Hulk, Tohka breathed a sigh of relief. However, she didn't refuse. She knew that she would have to take action at some point, and when that happened, her powers would be revealed to the public. It was better to agree now, as this could help her avoid a lot of future trouble.

As for the many Marvel fanfics she had seen before, where the protagonist was so amazing and powerful that they made S.H.I.E.L.D. look like fools, Tohka decided to leave that to the fantasy world. She didn't have that kind of ability and certainly wouldn't treat S.H.I.E.L.D. as if they were fools.

"Alright, I'll give you enough clearance to track that guy's movements. As for school, you don't need to go there for now, and don't tell anyone about this. After the mission is completed, I'll treat you to a big meal." Nick Fury still wasn't fully at ease, so he gave a special reminder.

"Deal." Tohka, who had been a bit indifferent before, instantly brightened up upon hearing that. She then slapped her hand on the table, giving Nick Fury a confident assurance.

"Tch." Tony scoffed disdainfully. He was all too familiar with this scene, as he had used the same tactic on Tohka. However, he wasn't worried about Tohka being taken by someone else. He knew that Tohka still had her own sense of good and evil, what they called a "proper worldview."

"Alright, take this with you. I'll send someone to follow you to the site, just make sure you don't intervene recklessly." Fury said, handing Tohka a badge from one of the agents. It was a badge identifying her as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

"Okay." She took the badge from Fury, turning it over in her hands. She never imagined that such a day would come, where she would actually become an agent herself.

If she had mentioned this in her past life, it would have probably dropped a lot of jaws. After all, spies were mostly seen on the big screen, and in the real world, they were so rare.
