Chapter 26 - squirrel

"You could have tagged me along with you. Had it been too much, you could have at least told me about the beauty. I would have been able to see this beautiful road before," he sulked.

"Maybe if I discover another beautiful place in the future, I won't tell you about that either," Nicolas said looking at the river.

Alexander froze in his place. The intensity of the betrayal given to him by his older brother was too much for him to take in.

R.I.P Alexander!

Everyone chuckled except Alexander and his older brother aka Nicolas.

"May I know why you won't tell him, brother?" Ereza asked, looking at Alexander with a teasing look as if saying ' look how our second older brother is going to roast you again.'

"Beautiful things should be kept hidden. The more people see it, the more chances of it's getting ruined raises," Alexander said, sulking.

Everyone except Nicolas looked at him with confused eyes.

"Lesson number four learned from Nicolas," he said in a grumpy tone.

"This place is extremely beautiful but the more people visit this place, the dirtier it will become. Some might even go as far as to tear down the banana pads and throw dirt on this clean river. Not everyone can tolerate the beauty of nature staying the same," Nicolas said looking at the smallest group of fishes.

"Some will even catch these beautiful fishes and have them for a meal," he added.

"But aren't we going for the same thing? We are going to kill a lot of animals today. Shouldn't the forest have been also kept away from our eyes then?" Amara said with a serious face.

The members of the wolf family chuckled at her words.

"Oh my goodness, Did you really think that we are going there to kill animals? We are not, darling," Ereza said smiling.

"You guys said that you are going there to hunt. What are going to hunt down in the forest if not animals?" Amara said with a confused look.

Aurora had the same reason as her. She never went to hunting with them before either.

"We are going there to hunt down fruits if that makes sense. We don't kill animals from the forest. The forest is full of different and tasty fruits. On our hunting day, we collect fresh fruits from the forest and take a bath in the waterfall," Nicolas said erasing her confusion as well as Aurora's.

"Then why do you even call it hunting?"

"Because we hunt fruits, duh!"

Amara looked visibly relieved by this. She was nervous about how she was going to stop them from killing innocent animals.

"So nobody hunts animals in the forest?"

"Nobody from the pack does so but we aren't sure about the villagers as hunting isn't forbidden," Nicolas said.

Amara nodded her head.

"Let's go ahead now.."

Everyone started walking again.

Soon they reached the forest and Amara's eyes widened after witnessing the same situation as before.

A chuckle left her mouth and everyone looked at her way with confused eyes.

Two cute squirrels were munching on almonds while standing on the wet mud. They seemed to be the same ones as before but Amara couldn't say with a guarantee as every squirrel looks the same.

Everyone looked at the squirrels by following her eyes in directions.

They couldn't help but awe at the sight of them.

Their cheeks were puffed up with food and their eyes were big, filled up with happiness.

One of them noticed them standing there and put the entire almond inside of its mouth in one go, afraid that they are going to steal their food.

Aurora was afraid that it was going to tear down its mouth with that big almond inside of it but thankfully, the squirrel stomached down the almond faster than she could ever imagine.

"I thought that it will tear apart its mouth," Aurora said chuckling.

"I thought the same a few days back but they are more skilled than us in eating," Amara chuckled.

"They have such a small body. Where does all of the food go?" Alexander said staring at their stomachs.

"Hey! Don't look at them with your dirty gaze. You shouldn't criticize them for eating their food," Ereza glared at Alexander.

The first squirrel looked at the other one before tapping its arms. The other one noticed them and repeated the previous one's actions.

Amara fully started laughing this time, just like a manic.

"Why are you laughing as someone told you the world's funniest joke? Sister, are you ok? Did you get such a big shock that your brain got messed up?" Alexander looked at Amara with a confused look.

Others were mirroring his expressions.

"I was welcome yesterday just like this. It seems as if they are the guards of the forest," Amara said moving in front of them.

One squirrel comically puts its hands over its waist and looks at Amara with a strict look.

As if asking, 'Why are you here again?'

"I loved how you both welcomed me yesterday. That's why I am here again to meet you both," she said with a naughty smile.

The squirrel shooked its head as if it was done with Amara.

They gave Amara a final look before running away from there.
