Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Death

The man looked at Rose in the dark, and he shook his head.

"Kyle, am I evil?" Rose's mood suddenly changed as she asked with her mouth pouted.

Kyle shook his head in response.

"You are not evil, you are being yourself, and I don't think that is a bad thing," Kyle replied, and it brought a smile to Rose's face.

"Of course, I am not evil, I am the nicest person you would ever come across," Rose giggled.

"Get me out of here, I'm tired of staying here," Rose demanded with a roll of her eyes.

"You were the one who chose to stay here," Kyle murmured under his breath.

"Will you get it done or will you blame me?" Rose sneered, and Kyle shook his head, before muttering something under his breath.

All of a sudden, there was a rumbling, and the bars to the cell slowly opened, which created an escape route for Rose.

The loud rumbling got the attention of the guards who were on duty, and they rushed to check what was happening.

They were surprised to find out that Rose was out of her cell.

"Hey you! Why are you out of your cell?" One of the guards roared at Rose.

"Gentlemen, I'd love to chat, but I have more... pressing matters," Rose gave them a chilling smile.

Her eyes glowed, the guards fell instantly, their bodies turning blue, and a smirk appeared on Rose's lips.

"It has been a long time since I have seen you use your powers, never thought I would see you use it again," Kyle stated with a smile as he watched Rose who dusted her arms.

He recalled how, when he first found her, she had nearly ended him with a glance. Only his immunity had saved him that day. He would never forget that day.

"I thought I wouldn't use it as well, it comes in handy, let's leave this place before they realize what has happened," Rose suggested, and before she could understand what was going on, there was little whirlwind, and they disappeared at once, leaving a trail of death behind.

Alpha Kain was currently in the training grounds, supervising the training of the new recruits, and he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest.

'This pain,' he thought to himself as he rubbed his chest, only for the pain to deepen.

His eyes widened, rushing out of the training ground which shocked the people present.

"Where is Marissa?" as the Alpha rushed into the living room, he questioned the first maid he found.

"She is currently in the garden, alongside Lady Bethany," the maid was shocked, but she still managed to respond.

Alpha Kain rushed to the garden, and he let out a sigh of relief seeing that his daughter was safe.

But then, he couldn't understand the pain he was feeling. It only happens when he loses a werewolf.

"A werewolf," Kain murmured to himself, before rushing out of the garden.

_______________

"Alpha, what is wrong? You seem tensed," Beta Calvin approached Kain who couldn't stop pacing around.

They were currently in Alpha Kain's office.

"Don't you feel that pain in your chest?" Alpha Kain asked, still massaging his chest as the pain became dull.

"I felt it, but it only came once, so I didn't think too much about it," Calvin replied with a sigh.

"Assemble all the guards, I need to know which one is missing," Alpha Kain instructed, which further confused his Beta.

"Do you think we have lost someone?" Beta Calvin asked.

"There is only one way to find out," Alpha Kain replied, his expression was heavy as he gestured for Calvin to leave.

___________

Alpha Kain's eyes swept through every guard as the pain intensified.

With a loud voice, he asked, "who is not present?"

The guards exchanged looks with another as they tried to find out who was not present.

"Hayden and Andrew," one of the guards replied with a loud shout.

"Weren't they on dungeon duty?" Another asked.

Alpha Kain squinted, before walking off. He was clearly heading to the dungeon. He remembered that they had been the one to take Rose to the dungeon the previous day.

Beta Calvin dismissed the guards, before running after Alpha Kain who was taking large strides.

From where Bryce stood, he was able to watch the drama unfold. He wasn't alone as well, his Beta was also with him.

"Why does the Alpha look so tense? Has something happened?" Beta Damien glanced at Bryce, while watching the scene unfold.

"I have no idea, but we can find out what has happened," Bryce had a smile on his face as he turned to look at Damien who had a confused look on his face.

"Do you mean?" Beta Damien didn't complete his statement.

Bryce only chuckled while patting his shoulders, "let's go see what is happening, and we can provide any help we can, after all this is my mate's pack."

A few minutes later, they were all gathered at the dungeon.

"Why are you here?" Alpha Kain asked when he noticed Bryce behind him.

"I just wanted to take a look with you, and perhaps provide help if you need it," Bryce replied with a subservient tone, completely surprising Damien as he had never heard Bryce speak with such a tone.

Alpha Kain looked at Bryce, and he nodded. Since he decided to help, he could not stop him from doing so.

"Here Alpha," Beta Calvin handed two burning torches to the Alphas.

The four walked into the deepest part of the dungeon, where Rose had been locked previously.

The air was heavy with a strange smell, and the four men frowned, wondering what the smell could be.

"Alpha, look, there is something on the floor," Damien screamed, and the two Alphas pointed their torches to the floor.

"What the hell?" Beta Calvin asked, recoiling at the horrific sight.

On the floor were the two guards, and their bodies were dried up. It looked like all the blood in their body was drained out.

Their skin was beginning to be detached from their body, and there was a horrible smell emanating from them. It was obvious that they were dead.

Bryce narrowed his eyes as he looked at the two men who had their eyes widened. It looked like they had suffered a shock before they died.

His gaze lingered on the empty cell, and a lump formed in his throat.

His jaw clenched slightly. This wasn't good. Whatever she was planning next, it wouldn't be simple — and it wouldn't be safe. Not for Marissa. Not for anyone.

"Rose has escaped, and it seems she killed the guards as well," Bryce summed up the entire situation for them.

Alpha Kain clenched his fists as he looked at his guards who had their lives brutally taken. He closed his eyes deeply.

"Arrange for their burial, if they have families, ensure that their families never lack anything, impose a state of lockdown, and Marissa should be guarded strictly," Alpha Kain instructed with red eyes.

It pained him that he had lost two of his guards, and he knew this wasn't the end. Rose was planning something bigger, and he had no idea what it was. He could only protect his people.

Bryce looked at the Alpha, and he wanted to say something, but he decided against it. It wasn't the right time to speak about it.

Far from the dungeon, a soft hum filled the air as Rose stepped into the moonlight, her fingers still tingling from the power she had long suppressed. "Let the game begin," she whispered.

The trees swayed slightly as if responding to her.
