"Uh… you should go talk to your mom," Nelly said, her voice suddenly clipped as she brushed down her hair, avoiding my gaze. She moved to step away from me, but I didn't budge.
I just stood there, watching her, pinning her in place with my stare. But she refused to meet my eyes.
"I'll do that later," I murmured.
She huffed. "Alright then, let me go."
"Why?"
"Nothing, I just—I'm leaving for my room."
"Why?"
"For goodness' sake, Aiden," she snapped, exasperated. "I'm already embarrassed as it is!"
I chuckled, tilting my head. "Embarrassed? You just made her hear you scream my name."
"That was an act to make her leave," she hissed, her voice low and sharp. "I couldn't stand her persistence, and I knew she wouldn't back down unless I did something drastic."
"But you don't have to leave now," I said, my voice quieter this time, softer.
Her eyes locked onto mine, curious, cautious. "Why?"
