I glanced around the room, unsettled by the thick tension in the air. The entire staff stood stiff, their eyes darting between me, Aiden, and Rose—who, at this very moment, was glaring at me like she wished she could set me on fire herself.
I wanted to ask what the hell was going on, why everyone looked like they were standing trial, but then I remembered—I have a role to play now.
And damn, if it wasn't satisfying to finally glare back at Rose without lowering my gaze.
Before I could make another move, Aiden closed the space between us and—without hesitation—pressed a lingering kiss to my forehead.
