Chapter 16 - 16 A New Way To Affect Magic

Snape waved his wand, and suddenly a huge projection appeared above the classroom, showing the desk of the podium and Snape's hands, ensuring that everyone could see the details of his operation.

"The first step is to weigh the herbs and determine the ratio, starting with dry nettles..."

Snape began to pick herbs and operate the instrument with standard and smooth movements.

"Next is crushing the snake fangs. Watch my movements..."

"Begin boiling the slugs. Be careful to choose the slugs with tentacles. Also, do not put them in cold water for the first time. Make sure the water is boiling before putting them in..."

"Melt the porcupine quills... Pay attention! Be sure to take the pot off the fire first and let it cool for a certain period of time before putting in the porcupine quills. Otherwise, you will be disfigured... To save time, I will use magic to cool it down here. Don't do this when you operate it later. I'm afraid that your crappy magic will blow up your crucible by the way."

  "Then the last step..."

Snape mixed the slug solution that had been boiled three times with other medicinal materials and stirred it in a certain rhythm and direction.

  "Huh?!"

Sitting in the first row, Avada could see Snape's movements directly without having to look at the projection above his head. The picture that appeared in his observation almost made him scream.

In his perception, the magic structure contained in various medicinal materials was originally chaotic, and it seemed meaningless to pick them out separately. However, when they were put into the slug solution, their magic structures gradually merged under the coordination of the simple magic structure of the solution, forming a regular, beautiful, and brand-new structure!

The whole process was like restoring a broken puzzle, smooth and pleasing to the eye.

This was a phenomenon he had never observed in the past few years - if you want to get a certain magic structure, the most direct way is to cast a spell directly and use mental power to change the magic around. But this new method, using the magic structure of the magic herbs to merge and splice, can accomplish what is extremely difficult to do with direct casting at a very low cost.

Take this scabies treatment potion in front of you as an example. It only takes a skilled first-year wizard ten minutes to prepare it. If you want to use only a magic wand to realize the magic structure in it, its difficulty is no less than casting a clear water like spring spell!

Clear water like spring is a spell that can only be learned in the sixth grade, and its difficulty can be imagined!

Avada realized that potion learning is a brand-new way to affect magic that is different from any magic!

 "I must learn potions well!"

He made up his mind secretly, and decided that even if he was targeted by Snape in the future, he would still shamelessly ask him for advice.

On the podium, Snape finally finished the preparation of the potion. He poured the potion into a glass bottle and held it up to show everyone. It was a bottle of light blue potion, which glowed slightly under the weak light and looked very beautiful.

"Now, I will give you the materials for making potions, and start making them in groups of two. I hope none of you will be so stupid that you can't even put together a set of experimental equipment!"

"Ms. White, you and Mr. Sharpy will be in a group; Mr. McNeill, you and Mr. Alex will be in a group..."

Snape walked to the back of the classroom and began to group the students according to the college from the back to the front. When he arrived at the front row and saw Avada and Baron, a playful look flashed in his eyes.

"Unfortunately, there are an odd number of students in Hufflepuff and Slytherin. Then Mr. Ken, why don't you be in a group with Mr. Shafik?"

"That's perfect. Mr. Shafik can supervise your brain that can't even remember the formula of the Anti-Cold Potion, so as to avoid any trouble in my class..."

He gave Avada and Baron a copy of the medicinal materials for preparing the potion, then turned around and inspected the classroom.

"Don't mind, he is actually very optimistic about you..."

Baron explained to Avada somewhat embarrassedly: "The Anti-Cold Potion is a potion that can only be mastered in the next semester. The fact that you can recite most of the formulas right after entering school is beyond his expectation. I think he should want you to guide me, but he can't let go of his face..."

"Concentrate on the experiment, don't whisper!"

Snape appeared behind the two of them again without knowing when, and knocked on their heads with parchment.

"Ahem."

The two shuddered, their faces straightened, and they quickly began the experiment.

"Dried nettles, venomous snake teeth, porcupine quills, slugs..."

Baron was responsible for weighing each medicinal material accurately, and handed the weighed medicinal materials to Avada for secondary processing. Avada put the venomous snake teeth into the mortar and pounded them into powder with the pestle. Although this is a purely physical process, Avada had already memorized the magical structure that reacted when he watched Snape operate just now, so details such as how finely to pound, whether to spread or clump were no problem for him. The next step was to break the porcupine quills into small pieces, cut the dried nettles, and boil water to prepare to boil the slugs. It must be said that after countless generations of experiments and improvements, these old classic formulas have almost no room for optimization, but instead let Avada find many hidden dangers in operation.

For example, if you don't break the porcupine quills into small pieces but grind them directly into powder to speed up the reaction, then congratulations, the large reaction area will cause a magic change that should have occurred later to occur in advance, and then generate a structure similar to the magic "flaming" with other ingredients that have not yet reacted...

Avada complained in her heart while cooperating with Baron in an orderly manner, boiling, cooling, adding medicinal materials, boiling, stirring, and cooling again...

With detailed notes, standard operations of Avada and Baron, and the effect of supervising every magic change with magic senses at all times, the two people's production progress progressed rapidly, standing out from the explosions, airflows, coughs, exclamations, and Snape's scolding in the classroom from time to time.

Soon, they came to the last step.

"Stir seven times clockwise, pause for three seconds, and then stir two times counterclockwise..."

Baron read in a low voice while flipping through the notes, and looked at Avada who was operating. But he stopped after stirring clockwise for five and a half turns, and then stopped after pausing for two seconds and then started stirring clockwise again.

  "Hey, the steps are wrong!"

Baron reminded him urgently, but Avada continued stirring calmly, explaining calmly: "Don't panic, this is another stirring method I saw in the library before, which is just right for the current potion. If nothing goes wrong, the potion stirred by this method will be two to three times more effective than the original one."

This was also a lie, in fact, Avada finally found a defect that could be improved. This defect was extremely conspicuous in his magical senses, but he didn't know why the predecessors didn't touch it.

Baron nodded, and did not obstruct because of the trust he had built in Avada in the spell class.

Finally, Avada completed the improved stirring. As the glass rod was pulled out of the potion cauldron, the originally colorless potion gradually turned into a darker blue than the original potion. Avada took out the glass bottle, poured the potion into it, and shook it at Baron with some pride: "I told you, trust me."

"Great."

Baron nodded in admiration, then raised his hand and asked Snape to come over to check their finished product.

However, after checking their potion, Snape did not praise them, and did not even turn around and leave. Instead, he sneered from his nose.

"Mr. Ken, do you think your genius brain has discovered an unprecedented improvement method?"

He took a piece of meat from an unknown animal from the shelf beside him, and then waved his wand to make it covered with scabies: "Come, let me show you what the effect of this 'genius potion' is."

He carefully opened the bottle cap and poured the azure potion on it. As the potion came into contact with the epidermis, a sizzling sound was heard, and the epidermis of the piece of meat that came into contact with the potion quickly turned black and damaged as if it was splashed with acid, and finally left a large shocking black spot.

"Your genius trick has tripled the potion's effectiveness, so it can now burn the entire skin instead of just killing scabies, Mr. Ken!"

"And if you're still determined to dilute it with water, then I don't mind watching the fireworks one more time!"
