My body fell several inches away from him.
I gasped, clasping my stomach. It felt as if it had hit the floor hard.
Max got down from the bed, still looking at me with that expressionless face.
His steps were slow and echoed in the room.
As he reached me, I blinked and backed off, almost afraid of him.
Max carried me from the floor and brought me back to the bed.
He kept me there, kneeling as he looked at me, his hand holding my shoulder.
"Innes, I wanted to trust you," Max said, his hand finding my face, forcing me to look at him.
"I regretted throwing away your blood, but Innes, because of the years I have been with you, I went back to collect that blood. I wanted to trust you. You said you were pregnant."
Max's voice carried a chill like the devil himself. His devilishly handsome face was now looking at me with the same coldness.
It can't be. I haven't been with anyone else except Max… except for today. I was already pregnant before I slept with his brother.
