Chapter 27 - Dark Farm 23

[March 12, Sunny

The weather is quite nice today, but the young master is still in a bad mood. The food brought by the servant was thrown out. Sigh, this has been happening for a while. When the old master left, he told me to take good care of the young master.]

[April 15, Rain turning cloudy

The young master has not been concerned with business for a long time. It's okay, I will follow the old master's wishes and take good care of the young master and manage his business properly.]

[June 7, Sunny

Recently, the young master seems to be in a better mood. Is this just an illusion? Lately, the messenger has come by more often, not only delivering newspapers but also sending letters for the young master. It seems like the young master has made a pen pal. As long as this helps improve his mood, it's enough.]

[July 13, Rain

The young master smashed a mirror. Didn't I already ask the servants to put away all the mirrors?]

[July 15, Sunny

The messenger contacted me, and the young master hasn't sent out a letter in several days. Is he not getting along with his pen pal? Maybe I should place more ads in the newspaper to find him more pen pals to correspond with.]

[July 21, Cloudy

The young master saw the ad in the newspaper and flew into a rage.]

The note seems to have been torn from a diary, and the handwriting is very neat. However, it's only the first half; the end of the note shows signs of being torn.

Wen Xirou carefully looked at it, trying to analyze something from the words.

All the content on the note revolves around the "young master." Could it be that he was once the farm owner?

Wan Qian lowered her head and searched through the drawer in the office, pulling out a leave request form and handing it to Wen Xirou.

"Fill it out first."

The leave request form needs to be filled out by the employee and then approved by the farm owner to be considered complete.

Wen Xirou took the leave request form, grabbed a blue pen from the pen holder, and seriously wrote her name on the leave request form.

For the reason, she filled in "feeling unwell." After completing it, she handed it to Wan Qian again.

Wan Qian looked up at the clock on the wall. It was already close to the designated 1:00 PM start of work. If they didn't leave now, they would be late to the worksite.

Wan Qian casually tucked the note into her pocket, planning to get it approved later tonight.

As she was about to leave, Wen Xirou hurriedly called out to her.

"Wan Qian." Wen Xirou handed over the note that had fallen from the intruder, saying, "Aren't you going to take a look at this?"

Wan Qian was confused: "What?"

Wen Xirou explained, "It fell from that person. It seems to be a diary."

Wan Qian immediately lost interest. Who still writes a diary these days?

She was increasingly convinced that this group of people was indeed a bunch of weirdos, exactly as she had suspected from the start.

She waved her hand. "You can keep it for yourself."

Wen Xirou watched as Wan Qian left, and the office door closed behind her.

Left alone in the office, Wen Xirou stared at the note in her hand, deep in thought.

Wan Qian had worked hard to obtain this clue, yet she wasn't going to look at it?

Wen Xirou suddenly realized. This was a test! Wan Qian was testing her!

For Wan Qian who dares to face off against ghosts and monsters, it's likely that, without even looking at the note, she already have a good idea of its contents.

Perhaps Wan Qian had already unraveled most of the hidden secrets behind the entire farm!

But she stayed at the farm, guiding her and allowing her to explore gradually, all in order to train and nurture her.

Leaving her the paper with key clues was also meant to cultivate her ability to solve mysteries independently, using only the smallest traces.

Now everything made sense.

Wen Xirou clenched the note tightly, as though holding onto a belief. She looked up at the wall full of books, filled with renewed determination to explore.

She would never disappoint Wan Qian's expectations and would find more clues in the office as soon as possible!

In the afternoon, Wen Xirou continued doing the same things as in the morning.

She flipped through books, those strange, incomprehensible words twisting and changing before her eyes, making her head spin the more she looked at them.

Wen Xirou closed her eyes and put the book, which had yielded no results again, back on the shelf. She knew that although she had been flipping through books under the guise of checking for insects, she wasn't exactly following the rules.

Long-term exposure to these strange words, even if unreadable, could gradually pollute her mind. But her fingers didn't hesitate at all as they reached for the next book.

The cover felt as smooth and soft as ever. However, just before pulling the book out, Wen Xirou suddenly froze.

She reached out and gently ran her hand over the book's cover. She confirmed that something was hidden in the seam of the cover. Wen Xirou instinctively felt excited and quickly pulled the book out.

But taking out whatever was in the seam posed a problem. The cover was sealed tightly, and to extract what was inside, she would have to tear the edge.

Just as she was about to do so, she suddenly recalled what the butler had said to her in the morning. "Cleaning the office is your task, but do not damage anything."

If she tore open the edge of the book, it would definitely be considered damaging something. Wen Xirou hesitated for a long time but ultimately didn't dare to cross that line.

She looked out the window. The afternoon sunlight was much stronger than in the morning. Holding the book, she walked to the window and held the cover of the book up to the sunlight.

Through the light, she could vaguely see that under the soft, thin cover, there was a letter filled with writing!

[Ms. Sun, I have received the photo. I did not expect such a beauty in this world. I boldly ask for a meeting on the 15th of next month, at...

I hear Miss Sun's family is in business and working alone, which must be exhausting... I offer a small suggestion...

The people of the village have a difficult livelihood, and two silver dollars were offered as the betrothal gift... The contract is in hand, and there are no relatives...

This is just my humble opinion... please...]

The middle part of the text was too difficult for Wen Xirou to make out.

She tried to turn the book to see the writer's name, but the signature was stuck at the thickest part of the spine, making it hard to read.

Ms. Sun...

Sun Jawang...

The young master...

What is the connection?

Wen Xirou instinctively felt that there must be a close connection between these three parties.
