Noah shifted slightly, wincing as the pain in his back flared up. He let out a sharp exhale before turning his gaze toward Kai, who still stood near the window, hands shoved deep into his pockets, his expression unreadable.
Noah licked his lips, his throat still dry. "What happened to Pong?"
Kai woke up out of whatever trance he was under and stared at Noah. His expression softened ever so slightly. "She's all right. Shaken up a bit, but okay."
The burden that was on Noah's chest dissipated. "Good."
Noah hadn't finished speaking when suddenly the door crashed open.
Pong marched inside, her expression a cross between worry and frustration, but when her eyes rested on Kai, everything about her changed in an instant.
Her mouth hung agape.
Her hands rushed to her mouth.
And then—
"HOLY SH*T! KAI THANAWONG?!?"
Noah cringed from the abrupt shriek, but Kai merely turned around with an unimpressed eyebrow.
