Noah's breathing came in short, ragged gasps as he clamped down on Pong. Kai was at his side, rigid, fists bunched. The guns of the armed guards ringed them, held at the ready, cutting off all avenues of escape.
The man in front—the one with the cruel smirk—tilted his head. "You've caused quite the mess," he mused, stepping forward. His voice was deep, smooth, and filled with amusement. "Breaking in, taking out my men, trying to steal my property—"
Noah's jaw clenched. "Property?" His voice was cold, dangerous. "They're people."
The man huffed melodramatically. "Oh, how virtuous. But see, I do not care for thieves. And you—" he gestured towards Noah with a lazy grin, "—you just stole something precious from me."
Kai stepped forward to cover Noah and Pong partly. "You mean we killed your dirty little scheme?" he sneered. "Good. Hope it catches fire."
The man's smile hesitated for a moment, then he laughed blackly. "Brave words." He indicated to his men. "Kill them."
