"Are you mad?" Asked Beta Magnus, the beta was miles away from killing her but they were in the public eye and she is someone of high status, the late alpha's daughter who he can't dare to try any rubbish.
Everyone in the hall gazed at them, silence ensued, a pin could be dropped and heard definitely. Evelynne chuckled lightly and smirked at the furious beta Magnus and the gamma who stood behind him. She knew what they would have done to her if she had dared said this in private, her existence would have ceased.
"You don't know what you're saying child, you are just a kid whose father is dead and is having a daddy issues which—"
"Beta magnus, I know what I'm doing and again I would like you not to call me your child. Your children are well and alive, and also calling me a kid which you were trying to soon marry off to a suitable prospect was that necessary?" She sighed, exchanging words with an elder was considered disrespect, she should try to hold her tongue for a bit, the ball was still in his court. "We should retire back to our rooms for the night everyone, tomorrow will be a great day. Today has been stressful." She smiled dismissing everyone whilst the pack keeper hurried out with some maids leading the alphas' to their designated rooms.

"It's for the best Beth, those people want to sell me off and I can't just stand and watch them do that when I know I have a little power and strength to speak against it"
"But—"
"There is no, but Beth the war has started. The pack house won't be the same again after what happened yesterday. All the alphas' are trying to talk together to see what they will do" evelynne lay face up to her canopy bed, her mind was everywhere, what if they reject her proposal?, she was a woman after all.
Beth who sat beside her rubbed her arm solemnly saying "what happens if they agree to your proposal?" Evelynne turned her head sideways to her maid "whose side are you on Beth?"
"Have mercy milady, I'm on your side of course, which other person is eligible for that throne if not you. I support you eve" Beth kissed her forehead "I just want you to be careful, do not let what your father did to you and what you saw he did to those women and their children get to you and you lose yourself"
Evelynne faced the canopy bed again "I just don't want to marry and leave them here knowing they would suffer. I can't take them with me…"she looked at Beth "but I can stay for them"
The day was going too slow to everyone's dismay, the evening was the supposed time fixed for the trial for what the other alphas' had discussed concerning her idea. She looked up to the sky from her room's window. The sun was setting down, evening was approaching. She dressed up with the help of Betty.
She wore black, same as yesterday. They should know they were still in the mourning season and not a merry season where they continuously played music. A black glove with intricate gold designs is the same as her gown. Gold embroidery sewed deeply through the fabrics, a gold simple necklace and bracelet complimenting the look.
Her hair which was usually sprawled at her back was pulled up in an updo, with the help of Betty and a few maids they were able to put up an elegant style. After they had finished with everything leaving her opening her eyes to the mirror and Betty behind her she gasped in awe at her look.
After bidding Betty a goodbye she left marching to the park house, as she bypassed everyone heads turned to her but she didn't care. Today the gloves and dress weren't itching but made her happy how everyone was giving her the attention she wanted with it. Her eyes went to Ronan who stood closer to his father, his eyes following her every step which didn't sit well with her.
The trial started after some settling down of everyone, her eyes kept closing in on Ronan every now and then she turned her head. All the high ranking alphas sat around a table in the front.
"There shouldn't be a test, her words hold no value alpha Damon, how could you say this?" Beta Magnus stood up from his chair, he was mad, the matter was going in her favor which is wrong and not right "she is a woman!!, what are you all thinking?" He yelled, almost growling at them, forgetting where he was.
Evelynne's lips thinned into a smile from her seat, the matter was putting him in heat. All the alphas watched him lose his temper over such a trivial matter "she is a woman and so?, that's the one more reason you shouldn't worry this much beta Magnus" alpha victor growled in anger , he felt like clawing his brain out for everyone to see.
"The vying for the position of the alpha seat commencement announcement will be till further notice, there needs to be an intense discussion for that until then I think the opposite parties should get ready. It will be bloody no matter if you are a male or female" Another Alpha. Alpha Alaric of the frostbite pack said, looking straight at evelynne.
The thought that a woman would be of the same status with him didn't even want to settle in his head. A woman an alpha?. Impossible. Over his dead body, such a thing happens under his watch. Sit with them and try to fight them?. Women are breeders, only to elongate the pack and lineage of the alpha, pleasures of the flesh, satiate your carnal desires,serve the men,nothing more.
Alpha Damon—her father—was a useless and incompetent fellow that knew nothing about pack and the insides. The pack was passed down from his father to him but that had been a great mistake. He led the pack to its ruins, it was only at this point because of the beta helping and the fraudulence they were into.
"Hmm that will be better" beta Magnus acquiesced, this was better than an actual answer. There was still time to talk sense into these alphas, he can't find himself fighting over a thing that was already his.
Everyone dispersed, the pack keeper scurried around with other maids trying to find people who wanted to retire to their rooms or leave the pack house for sightseeing. The place was chaotic however evelynne could be seen walking majestically out of the hall, there were so many other things to do instead of sitting pretty.
