"Mom, why don't you come and live in our New York penthouse? I'll be there in a few days."
Rosario's mansion came into view and I looked at my reflection in the rearview mirror while talking to Mom through my airpods.
"Why don't you come back, Alia? I'm tired of living alone."
I took a deep calming breath before speaking,
"Mom, I've asked you thousands of times to just come and stay with me. Why do you want to live in that mansion all alone?"
My car entered the mansion gates as I spoke.
"I can't, dear. You won't understand until you find your soulmate. I can't stay away from the memories of your father."
Irritation surged through me at the mention of his name but I bit back a snarky remark that was making its way out of my mouth.
"Mom. You need to move on. You could marry someone else or just leave Philadelphia and start living with me."
"Alia…"
