Chapter 48 - The Arrival of the Destroyer

"This is impossible. It's just mythology. How could gods appear in reality?" Coulson felt like the world was going crazy. Although there were superhumans here, gods were still too far removed from this world, considering these were legends that had been passed down for hundreds or thousands of years.

"Tch, Gods are just titles, a sign of respect for the unknown and mysterious things by the people at the time. If that's the case, I could be considered a God too." In Tohka's eyes, Asgardians couldn't truly be called Gods; they were just humans who lived longer than Earthlings.

"Then what about this hammer? Why don't you lift it?" Whether Coulson believed it or not, the fact remained. At least the hammer here, which was enough to confuse everyone, could explain the situation, leaving him no choice but to believe it. But no matter what, he was more concerned about this object.

"Are you sure you want me to lift this thing?" After hearing Coulson's words, Tohka gave him a strange look and then continued, "This hammer is tied to their throne succession. It's clearly a test from Odin for his successor. If I were to lift it, it would be a provocation to their throne. You know, in any dynasty, this is a highly sensitive issue. One wrong move could easily start a war. By the way, just thinking about a war with the Gods sounds exciting. And don't worry, it would be a 50-50 fight if it came to that, since you want me to lift it."

"Stop, let's put this on hold for now." Seeing Tohka, who was always stirring things up, Coulson was startled. After hearing her, he didn't dare let her lift the hammer again and hurriedly stopped her: "Throne... wait, you said the person who barged in yesterday was Thor, the God of Thunder from Norse mythology. Then the other person must be the god of lies, Loki."

At this point, Coulson finally realized what kind of people they had captured the day before. Even he was a bit shocked; he had actually captured a God.

"Yeah, it should be those two brothers." After Coulson stopped her, Tohka didn't approach the hammer anymore. Odin was definitely not someone to mess with. Although there were people on Earth who could fight him one-on-one, she would be a fool to provoke him.

But just now, she could feel that her power was probably of the same origin as Odin's and Thor's. Otherwise, there was no way she could suppress this hammer.

A power from a different source could have easily caused it to explode, and it wouldn't have been as peaceful as it was now. Odin probably refrained from harming her for this reason.

"Wait, but why would Odin do this? Aren't gods supposed to have endless lifespans? He shouldn't need to do this. It looks like he even turned Thor into a regular human." While Coulson understood that Odin's actions were justified, he still felt they were a bit extreme. After all, Earth may be peaceful, but it could still be deadly with one wrong move. From what it looked like yesterday, Thor was just a powerful ordinary person now. If Coulson hadn't secretly helped him, just Hawkeye alone would have been enough to defeat him.

"Tch, who knows? I bet Odin has some backup plans. At least he can restore Thor's power when he's facing a life-and-death crisis. As for why he's doing this, maybe Thor made a mistake, or maybe some other circumstances forced Odin to do this, like the 'Twilight of the Gods' in Norse mythology, or something else. Anyway, let's get out of here. It's uncomfortable here." After all, they were being closely watched by countless people, including soldiers and those monitoring them.

All of this made Tohka uncomfortable, so she wanted to leave quickly. Not many people enjoy being watched by a crowd, and Tohka definitely wasn't one of them.

"By the way, you said that was Thor. Looks like I should go meet him. You should come with me. If Gods really exist, this is a matter of diplomacy, and we can't be disrespectful."

After hearing Tohka's words, Coulson thought of something else. In the original story, it was unclear at first, but later Thor disappeared after recovering his power. But now, this guy had lost his power and was still on Earth.

As someone from Earth, Coulson couldn't just leave him there. At the very least, someone had to keep an eye on him. If something happened to the heir of a kingdom here, it could really spark a war, and facing an unknown enemy, no one would come out unscathed.

"Got it, let's go." While they were talking, Coulson and Tohka arrived at the base parking lot. As for the people, just the two of them was fine. After all, this wasn't a formal visit. Bringing more people would be pointless and could draw unwanted attention. Anyway, Coulson was a senior agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., representing the government, which was enough.

As for Tohka, she was the known strongest force. Moreover, from the way she spoke, even if Thor regained his power, she wasn't afraid. So, the two of them were just right.

"Quick, what is that?" At that moment, someone nearby suddenly pointed to the sky not far away. It was similar to when Tohka lifted the hammer, with thick dark clouds appearing in the clear sky. However, it was different in that the power seemed much smaller. By the way, the previous phenomenon had vanished because Tohka let go of the hammer.

"That girl is fast, almost like a fighter jet." Watching Tohka disappear, Coulson sighed. He immediately ran to his car, started it, and sped off in the direction Tohka had gone.

"It seems something is about to appear. Coulson, just to be safe, I'm heading over first." Knowing that the Destroyer armor controlled by Loki was arriving, Tohka immediately put on her spirit armor. She then accelerated and flew off, disappearing in front of Coulson, turning into a purple streak of light heading towards the location where the Destroyer was appearing. Meanwhile, she felt a bit nervous; after all, that thing was used to fight the Cosmic Pantheon of Gods. It definitely wouldn't be as easy to defeat as in the movies, with Thor just smashing it with one blow. The reason it was so weak in the movies was clearly because Odin had been secretly limiting the true power of the armor. Poor Loki, completely used by Odin as a sharpening stone for Thor, and he didn't even realize it, instead enjoying it. Just thinking about it made Tohka feel sorry for him. What a pitiful kid.
