Chapter 16 - 16~FINDING MUM AND DAD

EMMA

I kept pacing around, it's been more than an hour since we still haven't heard anything from them both, and all we kept hearing was cries from the outside of our home signifying how bad this attack must have been.

"Emma," I heard Olivia's little voice calling out to me, making me look down at her.

"What is the problem? Is your heart reacting? Do you feel uncomfortable? Can you breathe?" I asked a series of questions all at once, my whole attention now on her. Then she shook her head, making my heart race fast ith other reasons..

"Then.."

"Emma, I am fine. But I have a bad feeling about this.." she answered and I turned mute at this. Once she says something bad is about to happen, it will surely come to pass.

"Don't think of anything bad please" I kneel pleading with her, "You can't think of anything bad or say anything wrong." She bit her lip looking down and my eyes met with the door hoping they would just stand by the door telling me they were both fine.

Then I felt Olivia's hands wrapped around me, "I am scared, what if they have been hurt?" I shook my head taking in her hands as I tried to calm her.

"Hey… hey hey. They are fine." I sighed frustratedly, she needed to think of something good that would happen to Mum and Dad.

(Should we reach out to mate?) Beena asked for the first time since the whole saga.

"No!" Olivia yelled before I could utter my sentence "I don't like him." she yelled.

My eyes gaped at her for a few seconds and I could only breathe out those words.

"Ho… how?" her eyes lowered and she just took in a deep breath, (She can hear my voice,") Beena stated and Olivia let out a small smile.

I glanced at her and I could tell she wasn't ready to talk about it, I still couldn't figure out how much power she had, and it made me wonder why she possessed that much power while I possessed none.

Another general alarm rang and this signaled we were free to roam in the pack now but not cross out of it.

"Let's go look for Mum and Dad," she affirmed before me. I looked over to the table and noticed both of their phones had been left there, calling them was the best we could do right now because of the rules Mum had given.

But now we can't even reach them with it, "Emma." Olivia cried, not able to wait longer.

"Olivia I can't…" Just then we heard a loud cry from outside making me run out instantly, the moment I walked outside I was left speechless by the number of members gathered around the house.

(They lost someone,) Beena announced a bit sad, and then that pain hit through, we could feel it. I and Olivia exchange glances, "Olivia?" I called slowly.

"Can you stay in the house alone?" She looked up at me and I could see the fear in her eyes.

"I promise I won't stay long, I need to go look for Mum and Dad," I answered with fear already evident in my tone.

Another cry followed by another resident and my heart began rising, "No, I want to go with you." she argued, just before I could persuade her someone tapped me from the back making me startled, I looked back to see one of our neighbors staring down at me.

She isn't the type to put herself in other people's business and the only one that is nice to us.

We don't exchange words daily but she never bullies us like others, "Where are your parents?" she asked and I shook my head not having the courage to explain things.

"A series of members have been brought back injured and dead, maybe you should go check the pack house."

My eyes widened at this, "Emma.." Olivia let out slowly, "I will take care of your sister." she offered before I could say another word. I looked down at Olivia who quickly let go of my hand almost in tears.

"Go check," her voice cracked and I squatted to her level, "Hey, listen to me nothing is wrong with mum and dad, okay, you just have to stay here while I go bring them," I announced and she pouted her lips shaking her head.

I am also not gone myself but the thought of something happening to my parents was weighing me down.

Immediately agreed to stay with my neighbor. I was running down to the pack house, my heart beating fast.

The packhouse is a bit too far from our cabin and with the rate at which my wolf is weak, it will take me forever to get there.

My leg carried me toward the packhouse after what seemed like almost an hour. I could see the packhouse from afar and the number of pack members who were already surrounding there, some in tears while some were trying to resuscitate their families.

This attack had just been so sudden, that no one was expecting it. I sniffed in the scent of my parents, hoping I would catch the whiff of them but I wasn't getting any.

No matter how hard I checked I couldn't find my parents, my hands trembled at this. Not only do Rogue attacks but they also abduct, they couldn't have abducted my parents could they?

Tears were beginning to well up in the corner of my eyes, and my heart was racing faster than I could imagine. This is the kind of time I regret being too weak to mind-link my parents. I cursed my weak self.

"The Rogue attack was brutal, they had even killed the men positioned to be security." I heard one lady tell another and this was beginning to make me terrified.

I moved closer still searching for my parents who were nowhere to be found, I had no choice. If I wanted to look for my parents I needed to go to the only place in my head right now.

"Find Mum and Dad on the farm!" That is the most dangerous thing I could think of right now knowing the territory was still locked and the only ones allowed to cross it were the Alpha and Beta.

My legs led me toward the farm, (Let's get our mate, he might help us.) Beena suggested but I couldn't, I looked back to see how busy the pack house might be.

A series of healers came out to heal members and he would also be so busy right, my leg led me toward the farm

My mind racing with thoughts of my parents' safety, I realized that the safe territory had been blocked off.

There a sense of dread washed over me as I wondered if this was the reason why Mum and Dad weren't coming back. I took a deep breath and steeled myself, deciding to cross the border into the forbidden territory.

The warning signs bore into mine, cautioning against crossing into the danger zone during a rogue attack. But I had to find my parents.

I walked deeper into the territory, I sniffed the air, trying to pick up any scent of my parents.

My legs seemed to move of their own accord, carrying me faster than I could think. "Mum! Dad!" I called out, my voice echoing through the woods. But there was only silence in response.

As I approached the farm, my heart sank. The scene before me was horrific and almost made me throw up

Blood stained the ground, and broken bones littered the area. I felt a wave of terror wash over me, "Mum!" my voice cracked this time around.

I moved deeper into the farm, my eyes scanning the destruction. Most of Dad's plants had been destroyed, and the air was thick with the scent of death.

But what caught my attention was the absence of any sign of my parents. I called out their names again, my voice hoarse from shouting. "Mum! Dad!"

And then, I saw it. A piece of fabric caught my eye, I ran toward it and I recognized it as the same dress Mum had been wearing.

My heart skipped a beat as I realized that it was bloody. I felt a cold dread creeping up my spine as I saw Mum's slippers lying nearby.

I fell to my knees, my eyes welling up with tears. "Mum! Dad!" I cried out, my voice barely above a whisper.

As I sniffed the air again, I caught a whiff of something else. Something that made my blood run cold.

(Rogue!) Beena alerted me and my eyes widened in shock as I looked up, and that's when I saw it.

A monstrous wolf stared deep into mine, as it stood before me, its mouth bloody and twisted. And in its mouth, it held a tattered piece of fabric. Mum's fabric.

The only word that could escape my lips, as I stared at this Rogue. "Mum."
