EMMA
I put a halt to my track the moment I got to the middle of nowhere, I looked around, still trying to get my bearings, but there was no clue where the hell I was. Where did he bring me? How the heck did I even lose consciousness?
(How long was I gone, Beena?) I asked expecting her to be alert all this while but who was I kidding?
My wolf's purring sound came to life, as she had also lost consciousness.
( I felt a bit dizzy, and that was the last thing I recalled) Beena answered, leaving me stunned.
(What the heck? Beena… we suddenly lost consciousness, and you were not even trying to be awake to save us.) I argued, but all I got in return was a teasing smile from her.
(Mate, saved us. You don't expect me not to trust him,) Beena replied calmly.
I rolled my eyes, my hands clutching tight to his coat. (What? He doesn't want us, are you trying to be a slut for him?) She only purrs wagging her tail leaving me astounded.
I need to leave here now, the office? Damn it, I was given a job to do." I whispered.
About to take one more step, I felt something fast moving my way and in a blink of an eye a man stood before me.
"Who... who are you?" I questioned, my heart racing with fear. I could tell at a glance that he wasn't just a werewolf, but couldn't pinpoint what his other creature was.
"Careful... I am the Alpha's Gamma Theo," he introduced. "The Alpha had asked me to take you home. It's evening already, so you don't have to go back to the office."
"The hell... How many hours was I gone?" I could only stare at Theo as he waited for my response.
"If you may please," he gestured for me to move, and I just nodded quietly as I followed him.
We finally walked down the stairs which turned out to be busy with a series of pack omegas going around the pack house.
I also didn't miss the gaze I was getting from them. One smell you can tell my wolf is weak so their gazes are justified.
We finally got outside and there a car sat awaiting us, "Why?" I looked back at the pack house and couldn't help but be amazed at how beautiful it was.
We hardly see the pack house because of how low our rank is and how far our little cabin is located.
"Alpha said your speed limit is low so you should take a car." I swallowed hard at this. (Princess treatment an?) Beena teased but I just cut her off and gently got into the car.
Theo got to the driver's seat and then we drove off. I didn't even give him my house address before he stopped in front of my house.
It's almost night time and this is the first time I am getting home this early since I began my job.
"Good night, have a nice rest," he told me and he was driven out of the premises leaving me staring at the space.
The moment he drove off, other members walked out of their cabin looking at the car.
I am pretty sure they can tell the owner of the car at a glance, and immediately I was surrounded
"Isn't that the Alpha's car?" someone mumbled. "Wow… that's awesome you are so lucky to be recognized by the Alpha."
"Hey don't say that, you don't know what she might have done to get dropped in his car,"
"Yeah, maybe one of his famous ladies," another teased and they all burst out laughing.
I was used to this hurtful comment so I just walked into our cabin, not minding them.
Like always that sweet voice came rushing down, "Emma, you are back!" she cried out and I scooped her off the ground.
I really can't explain the joy I feel anytime I see this little bundle of joy running towards me, I am always happy to see her bubbling behavior.
"Mum! Emma is back early today…" she screeched from my hands as I strutted into the kitchen.
"Good evening mum.." I greeted and there was my mum in the kitchen cooking one of my favorites.
"Hey, you came home early, is anything the problem?" her words stopped midway as if trying to sniff in the air.
"You smell like the Alpha," she stated again without thinking twice and only then I recalled I put on his coat.
"It's a long story mum, I.."
"Can you stay away from him? It's trouble being with him." She cut me off again.
"Yes Emma… he is annoying," Olivia added as I dropped her.
"Mum, I will do as you say the only reason I am still there is because of money, I promise I will do my best."
"I know it's hard, I know he is your mate." I swallowed hard at this so they figured it out already, I never want to get them worried.
"He isn't accepting you right?" I nodded my head, tears slid down my eyes.
"Yes Mum… he doesn't want me close or far away from him, he wants Lady Nyx," I answered truthfully and my mum turned off the stove as she stretched her hands forward for me to embrace her.
I ran into her arms embracing her tightly, I didn't know I needed this embrace until now my hands encircled around her back.
"Emma! Up!" Olivia yelled as I quickly scooped her from the ground again three of us having a family embrace.
Just as we were savoring the warmth of our family embrace, the general alarm pierced the air, shattering the silence.
We quickly disengaged, our eyes locking in a flash of concern. "Dad!" Emma and I cried out in unison, our voices trembling with worry.
The alarm rang out again, its urgent tone signaling a general lockdown. Rogues were on the loose.
Panic set in as I frantically thought of my dad's safety. "Dad! He must still be on the farm! He must still be hunting!" I exclaimed, my voice cracking with fear.
"I need to go find him," I announced as I tried to rush out to find him, but my mum grasped my hands, holding me back.
"No, Emma, you can't go... I will go myself. Protect Olivia," she instructed her voice firm but laced with worry.
Before I could stop her, she was already sprinting out of the house, leaving me stunned and helpless.
"Lock the door..." were her last words, echoing in my mind as I watched her disappear into the danger zone.
Olivia's tiny hands clung to mine, her eyes wide with fear. We could only stand right in front of the door hoping nothing would happen to them.
