Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Call for Adventure (Updated)

**//I am Updating and fixing the chapters in this story for old times seek//**

Hi, everyone. My name is Sora.

I am a college student at the second-best university in the country. I was orphaned as a child but was lucky enough to be adopted by a kind elderly couple who cared for me as their own. I loved them deeply and called them Father and Mother after just a year of being with them.

When I became old enough to work, I did everything I could to look after them, repaying them for raising me by ensuring they never had to worry about me. I worked hard and sent them on vacations, wanting them to enjoy their old age rather than having to care for someone. Life was good, and I was happy—until they passed away.

My mother went first, and my father soon followed. Their deaths hurt me deeply, but I prayed for their safe journey to the afterlife, believing they were finally at peace. Though I grieved, I felt comforted knowing they could rest.

But a year after they died, boredom struck me. This wasn't the life I wanted. The only thing that had kept me going in this mundane world was my parents, and with them gone, I started questioning everything. Why wasn't I born in an anime world? The MCU? A xianxia realm? I tried everything—dangerous sports, hacking, martial arts—but nothing satisfied me. I wanted more. I wanted to fight monsters or warriors, become overpowered, and claim the life I truly desired.

Yet, my boring days dragged on, and I kept losing interest in living.

Years passed, and now I'm in my final year of college—three years since my father died—and I can't take it anymore. The crushing boredom is suffocating.

On a stormy night, I throw open my window, rain soaking me instantly, and shout at the sky.

"I WANT TO HAVE FUN! I WANT MORE! I CAN'T LIVE IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE! PLEASE, IF ANYONE OR ANYTHING UP THERE CAN HEAR ME—HELP ME!"

I wait beneath the pouring rain, hoping, praying for something—anything—to answer my call.

Minutes pass, and my hope begins to fade. There's no escaping this. I should just give up, I tell myself.

Then—suddenly—a voice echoes inside my mind.

"Don't be hasty, young one. I was just preparing for your departure from this world. Brace for impact. See you in a couple of seconds."

I look around frantically, expecting someone to be behind me, but I see nothing. Then, I replay the words in my mind. Brace for impact?

I barely have time to process the meaning before I instinctively glance upward—lightning is coming straight for me.

"Wait—!"

BOOM.

Darkness.

Pure, infinite darkness is all I see. I panic but force myself to calm down. I think of my parents, trying to find something—anything—in this void. But there is nothing.

And then—I hear the voice again.

"Welcome, Sora. Come inside."

The darkness vanishes, replaced by brilliant light. Before me stands a man who looks young, yet radiates immense power.

I want to speak, but he beats me to it.

"How was the trip here? Fun?"

I stare at him in disbelief. Is he serious right now?

I answer dryly, "Yeah, very fun. I always wanted to be struck by lightning. Feels great."

He ignores my sarcasm.

"Good. You know, it took me a couple of minutes to get everything ready to bring you here."

I blink. Is he seriously complaining about the effort it took to kill me?

"Are you really upset about how much work it took to end my life?" I ask.

"What do you mean 'kill you'? Kid, I answered your wish and brought you to me. If I wanted to kill you, it wouldn't have taken me even two seconds."

I hear his words and my mouth drops open for a moment before excitement floods through me.

"Are you serious? Will you really help me achieve my dream?"

"Of course, boy. Why else would I bring you here? Now, tell me—which world do you want to be reborn into? And choose three wishes to send you there with."

Okay, calm down. I've thought about this a hundred times before—this is my dream. Stay calm, think carefully…

After a couple of minutes, I inhale deeply.

"Okay, I'm ready for the wishes. I don't need time to decide them—I've already thought of the best, most overpowered ones I could dream of. But before I choose, I should ask—are there any limits?"

"You can choose whatever you want—there are no limits. I am second only to God himself, and that is only because I cannot create souls out of nothing like He can."

A thrill rushes through me. No limits?

Wait—he isn't God? Well, who cares? As long as I get my wishes, it doesn't matter.

"Okay, first—I want to be a game character."

He raises an eyebrow.

"Interesting. But why, kid?"

I pause, briefly noting how he keeps switching between calling me 'Sora,' 'kid,' and 'young one.' He's clearly doing whatever he wants. But given his power, he's probably several million years old, so I can't exactly correct him. One day, though, I think, I'll be like him—traveling between worlds, doing whatever I want.

"Because every game character has three essential traits," I explain.

"First—the body. It can adapt to any skills, bloodlines, and powers."

"Second—the mind. Calm and focused even in the face of danger. Since I've lived in a peaceful world, movies and anime alone aren't enough to prepare me for fighting monsters or staring death in the face without freezing in terror."

"Third—the gaming interface. It makes everything simple, and if possible, I'd like an AI assistant—preferably Jarvis from Iron Man."

He looks at me, stunned—then bursts into laughter.

"Ha! That was brilliant, kid. You came prepared and didn't hold back with your wishes! Good—I wouldn't want it to be boring. I'm glad I chose you already, boy."

I stare at him, waiting for his verdict. He notices my anticipation, smirks, and says,

"Okay, kid—granted."

I scream internally. YES! YES! YEEES! This is going to be amazing!

"Now, boy, what's your second wish?"
