Zhang Yang opened the glass case, took out the Tianmu Glazed Bowl, and placed it into the system's magic storage space.
The system had included this magic space from the very beginning. If Zhang Yang really wanted, he could store every artifact on this floor.
But unfortunately, there wasn't enough time. The unlocking chime from the security system was a sound Tyce and his team knew all too well.
The moment that sound rang out, they understood what it meant.
Tyce immediately picked up his radio.
"All units, seal off the museum. Now!"
He rushed to the Tianmu Glazed Bowl's display case—but it was already empty.
In its place sat a white playing card, marked with a sketched portrait of Kaitō Kid.
And beneath it, Tyce found his own security clearance card.
Only then did he realize his card had been stolen.
"Kaitō Kid has taken the Tianmu Glazed Bowl! Teams on the first and second floors, secure all museum entrances and exits! Exterior teams, keep eyes on every possible escape route!"
In the control room, the director clenched his fists as the voice came through the radio. His rage was written all over his face.
[Holy crap. Kaitō Kid actually pulled it off!]
[Hahaha, the director must be completely numb by now!]
[Now all that's left is figuring out how he escapes. The British Museum is surrounded by security!]
[If he made it inside, he's definitely got a way out too. He wouldn't walk into a trap without a plan!]
[Whoa, Kaitō Kid just keeps surprising us!]
The livestream exploded with disbelief. The audience was hyped, their admiration for Zhang Yang rising by the second.
Another voice came through the radio—it was the equipment supervisor.
"Ventilation system is now running at full power!"
Back when the smoke began flooding the third floor, the director had ordered the supervisor to max out the museum's air circulation system to clear it as quickly as possible.
He also began directing the security team personally.
"Open all windows in the museum!"
There was still a chance Zhang Yang had more of those terrifying smoke bombs. Opening windows was just a precaution.
As for the idea that Zhang Yang might jump out the window? That wasn't a concern.
Even if he did, the exterior perimeter was heavily guarded. There was no chance he'd escape that way.
[That old geezer's reaction was surprisingly quick—opening the windows in advance just in case!]
[Still pointless though. The artifact's already gone. Kaitō Kid probably figured out his exit plan long ago!]
[Let me gift you Brits an old Dragon Nation saying: "Don't take on porcelain work without diamond tools."]
[Oh my god! I'm outside the British Museum right now. The third-floor windows are open, and the smoke inside is way thicker than it looks in the livestream!]
The entire museum was on full lockdown—exactly what Zhang Yang had predicted.
The British Museum's security team was fast, efficient, and had contingency plans for nearly everything.
Which was why Zhang Yang never intended to escape through the lower floors. The moment he secured the Tianmu Glazed Bowl, he went straight to the rooftop.
With both the ventilation system and windows working together, the smoke on the third floor began to clear rapidly.
Tyce's radio crackled again.
"Reporting in—Kaitō Kid spotted on the roof!"
Tyce looked up but didn't see anyone.
"You idiot, that's just one of his dummies!"
The report had come from a guard in the square outside. What he saw was one of Zhang Yang's Illusion Dummies, placed at the opposite corner of the roof.
But what was actually in his line of sight… was the real Zhang Yang.
Still, Tyce's rebuke left him second-guessing everything.
Zhang Yang stood casually at the edge of the roof, waving directly at the crowd below in the square.
"Minister, I don't think that's a dummy. He just waved at me!"
"What?!"
Tyce's expression changed instantly. He grabbed a squad of guards and rushed up the stairs.
As soon as they hit the rooftop, they spotted Zhang Yang standing right at the ledge.
The dummy was still there, over in the corner.
"Kaitō Kid! Hands in the air! Don't move! Surrender now!"
Tyce led a squad of sixty to seventy guards in a full sweep across the rooftop.
There was only one stairwell up here, and they were three stories above ground. Tyce thought he had the situation fully locked down.
"Surrender? I'm afraid that won't be happening tonight."
Zhang Yang gave him a calm smile, then slowly unfolded the white cape behind him as he stepped toward the edge of the rooftop.
"What's he doing?!"
"He's not actually thinking of jumping, is he? Just using that cape?!"
"He's lost his mind! That drop's at least fifteen meters—he'll die for sure!"
The crowd of security guards stared at Zhang Yang in sheer panic.
They couldn't comprehend, let alone predict, what he was about to do.
Suicide.
That was the only word they could come up with.
"Farewell, everyone."
Zhang Yang offered a graceful smile, like a gentleman taking a final bow, and tipped backward off the ledge.
"No—something's wrong!"
Tyce's gut twisted with a sinking feeling. He immediately rushed toward the edge.
And sure enough—his worst fear came true.
Zhang Yang was gliding through the air, soaring above the museum square with his cape spread wide.
"We've been played! That damn cape of his lets him ride the wind!"
Tyce's jaw clenched. He had accounted for everything—but he never imagined Zhang Yang would escape by jumping off the roof.
This kind of escape plan went against every ounce of logic.
Zhang Yang glided effortlessly through the air, drifting across the square as countless pink flower petals fluttered down from his suit, scattering across the ground below.
People in the square looked up, eyes wide, and erupted into cheers.
"Holy crap! He's flying! Kaitō Kid is way too cool!"
"Wow! He's even dropping flower petals—it's so romantic!"
"Kaitō Kid, I love you! I love you!"
"Damn, this guy is unreal! That was a straight-up Leap of Faith!"
"These petals are real—fresh petals! How the hell did he even do that?!"
The guards stationed outside finally realized what was happening and took off in pursuit.
But there was no catching up. Zhang Yang landed smoothly across the street and jumped straight into a car before speeding off.
Back in the control room, the director slammed his palm down on the desk in fury.
He didn't care about the livestream anymore. The rage he'd been suppressing all night finally erupted.
"Tyce! You idiot!"
"As of tomorrow, you're no longer Head of Security!"
He flung the radio onto the desk and shut down the livestream. No one else in the room dared breathe a word.
The heist and livestream catapulted Kaitō Kid to overnight fame across the internet.
At the same time, the director and the entire British Museum were left to swallow the public humiliation Zhang Yang had delivered.
[He's too good. The British Museum's security team spent the whole night dancing to his tune!]
[Oh my god! Kaitō Kid actually pulled it off?! He really hit the British Museum? This is crazy!]
[I watched the whole thing live—the director's face turned black with rage, and the Head of Security got fired on the spot!]
[That final goodbye with the flower petals was iconic—real petals too! They even smelled like flowers!]
The forums blew up instantly, shocked beyond belief.
But not everyone was on Kaitō Kid's side. Heated debates broke out between his fans and those who wanted him punished.
[Disgraceful! The British Museum should have contacted the Enforcement Bureau and arrested Kaitō Kid!]
[Why? Didn't the director accept his challenge publicly on the museum's official account?]
[The emperor's not in a hurry, but the eunuch's losing it. If you're so capable, why don't you catch him? You can you up, no can no BB.]
[He stole from the British Museum. That's still theft, isn't it?]
[Sure, sure—go ahead and file a report then. Knock yourself out.]
After Zhang Yang made off with the Tianmu Glazed Bowl, the British Museum immediately shut down.
Security guards remained stationed at all exits while the rest of the team began checking the exhibits for further losses.
Meanwhile, Tyce wasn't sitting around either. He was in his office—getting chewed out by the director.
"Tyce! You idiot! You've disappointed me beyond belief!"
"We were livestreaming the whole thing, and you still let him escape! You humiliated the entire British Museum!"
"Do you have any idea how valuable the Tianmu Glazed Bowl is? Do you understand what this does to the museum's reputation?"
"You worthless moron! You absolute fool!!!"
