Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Kid Appears! Livestream Begins!

Night fell.

Zhang Yang changed into a full Kaitō Kid outfit—pure white suit, blue shirt, orange tie.

He also wore a tall white top hat with a stripe around it, and even had a white cape to match.

The British Museum kept its word. A little after seven o'clock, it officially launched a livestream through its verified account.

The livestream footage came directly from inside the museum's security control room.

[Holy crap, these British old geezers are really going through with it?]

[Oh my god, the British Museum has three hundred security guards, and they still can't catch one Kaitō Kid?]

[Can't wait to see that white silhouette show up—it's just too cool!]

[Hahaha, didn't know foreigners could fangirl too!]

[The British Museum is clearly ready. They're just waiting for Kaitō Kid to walk right in!]

To prepare, the museum had closed one hour early.

There were exactly two hundred and eighty guards on duty.

"Director, everything's been arranged!"

At the moment, the director and the heads of each department were gathered in the control room, waiting for Kaitō Kid to appear.

"Good. From now on, not even a fly gets out once it gets in!"

The director gave the order with full confidence.

The British Museum had three floors and over seven hundred surveillance cameras. One whole wall in the control room was covered with live feeds from those cameras.

[What the actual—this director's gone mad!]

[No way… they're actually livestreaming it? I'm not too late, right?]

[Kaitō Kid hasn't shown up yet, but he should be here soon!]

[With this many cameras inside the museum, there's no way he gets in unnoticed!]

There were over eighty thousand artifacts on public display in the museum, and every single one of them was within surveillance range.

So basically, the entire interior was under constant watch—no blind spots.

At this moment, Zhang Yang had already parked his car. Right across the road stood the British Museum.

A lot of people had gathered in the square out front to watch.

"Let the game begin."

The Tianmu Glazed Bowl was registered as item 76532 in the museum's records, displayed on the third floor.

Zhang Yang got out of the car, but instead of heading directly toward the museum, he entered a building on the other side of the street.

The British Museum was already locked down tight. With nearly three hundred guards inside, charging in recklessly would be suicide.

Zhang Yang stood on the rooftop. It was a seven-story shopping mall. Directly across from it was the British Museum.

As soon as he appeared on the rooftop, people in the square below spotted the striking white figure up above.

"Whoa! Look! It's Kaitō Kid!"

"Aaahhh! It's really him!"

"This guy's got guts—he really showed up!"

"What's he doing on top of the mall? Isn't he supposed to be robbing the museum?"

More and more people in the square looked up at the rooftop.

With everyone watching, Zhang Yang suddenly leapt off the mall rooftop!

People in the square screamed in shock.

[Ding!]

[Hang Glider Cape: Can be used as a glider. Ride the wind and fly!]

In the next second, Zhang Yang spread open the white cape. The hidden glider unfurled, and he soared straight toward the roof of the British Museum.

Everyone in the square lifted their heads, eyes following him as he swooped overhead.

"Whoa! Kaitō Kid is way too cool!"

"Wait, what? He can fly? Is this guy really the Moonlight Knight?"

"Holy crap, this dude is insane—how did he pull that off?"

"His cape must double as a glider. Damn, this overseas trip was totally worth it just for this!"

Zhang Yang landed smoothly on the rooftop of the British Museum.

Part of the museum's roof was made of glass.

So as soon as Zhang Yang touched down on the rooftop, the security guards patrolling the third floor noticed him.

"Kaitō Kid! Kaitō Kid!"

Zhang Yang stood in front of the glass, looking down at the guards, and gave them a little wave.

The guards immediately grabbed their radios and called in to Tyce in the control room.

"We've spotted Kaitō Kid—he's on the museum roof!"

Tyce frowned at the news.

There were four surveillance cameras at the corners of the museum rooftop.

But those weren't aimed at the rooftop—they were pointed around the perimeter of the building.

Tyce had also stationed most of the guards on the first and second floors.

He hadn't expected Zhang Yang to show up on the roof at all!

At this moment, the museum's livestream had over two hundred thousand people watching.

Half of them were viewers who'd bypassed the firewall just to enjoy the show.

[Didn't the warning letter literally say he'd "become the Moonlight Knight"? Of course he landed on the roof first!]

[F**k! He flew from the mall rooftop across the street to the museum roof—someone filmed it on site!]

[Wait, what? He flew over?!]

[Are these Brits half asleep or what? Anyone on the scene, please confirm this!]

Tyce's face darkened as he grabbed his radio.

"How were you patrolling?! How did he end up on the rooftop?!"

The team in the control room, along with the museum's interior guards, had no idea Zhang Yang had glided in from the mall rooftop.

By the time they spotted him, he was already standing on top of the museum.

The director stared at the surveillance feed and urged sharply, "Just catch him already!"

Tyce clenched his radio and barked out the order.

"Get up to the rooftop and catch him!"

The third-floor guards quickly regrouped and rushed toward the stairwell to the roof.

At the same time, Tyce mobilized the first and second-floor security teams to completely surround the British Museum.

[Ding!]

[Item redeemed: Illusion Dummy]

[Dummy capsule releases a smoke cloud on impact and creates a rubber decoy indistinguishable from a real person]

Zhang Yang raised his hand and tossed the capsule.

A puff of smoke exploded, and in the same spot stood a lifelike inflatable dummy—it looked exactly like him.

Then Zhang Yang walked over to a section of the glass, pulled out a window spike from under his shoe, and stomped down hard.

Bang!!

Cracks spidered across the glass. Zhang Yang followed up with two more stomps, then jumped straight down into the museum's third floor.

A second later, the rooftop guards rushed out from the stairwell—and immediately spotted the illusion dummy.

They quickly pulled out their short batons and flashlights, aiming their beams straight at the figure.

"Kaitō Kid! Hands up, get down on the ground!"

Dozens of guards slowly closed in. Even though their lights were shining directly on the dummy, none of them noticed anything strange.

That was, until Tyce's furious voice came through the radio.

"You bunch of idiots! What are you doing?! Kaitō Kid's already inside on the third floor!"

The rooftop guards froze, confused. They looked at each other in disbelief.

Meanwhile, the director's face was dark as coal.

[Oh my god! The British Museum's security is completely useless!]

[Whoa, Kaitō Kid… looks like he's about to pull it off!]

[Hahahaha! Is this the best they could manage? And they had the nerve to act tough?]

[These British geezers really had the guts to stream this live—I feel secondhand embarrassment all the way from Dragon Nation!]

[Dear god, when Kaitō Kid jumped through that rooftop glass, he looked insanely cool!]
