A Breather in Emberpoint
The gates of Emberpoint welcomed them back under the glow of enchanted lanterns. Smoke curled lazily from forge chimneys, and the streets bustled with late-night traders, adventurers, and guild couriers. The city felt alive—but more than that, it felt safe.
Kael and Riven moved through the crowd, gear scorched and bloodied from the dungeon. People stepped aside, whispering about the returning adventurers. They didn't notice. All they saw was the inn's front door.
Emberhearth Inn – 2nd Floor, Room 3C
The fire crackled. Armor clinked as it was unstrapped and dropped beside the bed. Kael leaned against the wall, sipping a warm cider the innkeeper insisted they take for free.
Riven sat on the window sill, crossbow on her lap. "We're one trial away from Tier 3."
Kael nodded. "Almost ready for whatever's beyond this town."
They opened their inventory screens.

They had enough for better gear, another long stay, or saving toward a permanent place. But first—they needed to check the guild boards again tomorrow and sell a few rarer crafting items.
Riven flopped back on the bed. "I forgot what not being stabbed feels like."
Kael smirked, tossing a pillow at her. "Get used to it. We've got two more trials to go."

Somewhere beyond the inn's walls, new missions were being posted. Monsters were stirring. Guilds were watching.
But for tonight, the fire was warm, the beds were soft, and the storm outside could wait.
