Chapter 2 - The Three Slim Challenge

Inside the halls of the Beautiful Horizon Academy of Magic, the usual morning calm is disrupted by the intrusion of a middle-aged man with a thick mustache into the castle office. He is the seasoned professor "Qwiz Morley," one of the most skilled magic instructors at the academy, bursting into the office and saying reproachfully:

"Ms. Tefswit, why did you expel him?"

Arenas replies calmly:

"Professor Morley, I knew you would be upset since it concerns Dayas... but as you know, he deserves it."

Professor Qwiz:

"But he is a true talent; you must reinstate him."

Arenas:

"You know well that our city, Beautiful Horizon, is the only magical place in the First Universe, and this has enabled our academy to have the strongest line of defense against any external threat by recruiting its children and establishing a hierarchical system that made the city operate like an empire... My family has managed it for generations, so I will not allow a rude person dealing with a cosmic being in his childhood to bring danger and ruin it."

Professor Qwiz:

"But that's not his fault; that being stole all his emotions and left him with only that feeling..." This explains his pranks and behaviors.

Miss Tefswit:

"Cosmic beings are too powerful for us to deal with, so their presence in the academy poses a threat to us all."

Professor Qwiz:

"Well then, either you bring him back, or I will resign."

At noon inside an old white moving truck parked on a grassy hill surrounded by trees on three sides, Dayas is deep in sleep until he suddenly wakes up to the sound of a knock on the door, only to be surprised to find his favorite teacher Quiz in front of him. Dayas is happy to see him and hugs him, saying:

"Teacher, what are you doing here!"

Professor Qwiz:

"I heard this morning that Miss Tefswit expelled you from the academy two days ago, so I went to her office to get you reinstated, and I threatened to resign."

Dayas replies with boredom:

"Oh really, so what happened?"

Professor Qwiz:

"She expelled me too."

Dayas sarcastically:

"Oh, sorry about that."

Professor Qwiz:

"It's okay; I decided to reopen the old family café anyway, but I have a small problem."

Dayas:

"Can I help!"

Dayas and his teacher enter the café shortly after, Dayas looks around the place, saying:

"The place seems good to me, it just needs some cleaning."

Professor Qwiz replies:

"The problem is not with the cleanliness but with the coffee machine."

Dayas turns to the machine and approaches it, asking:

"Huh! Is it broken?"

Before his hand can touch it, a small green genie suddenly appears from it and lifts Dayas into the air with his magic, throwing him away. Professor Qwiz laughs while helping his student get up:

"Ahiyahaha, my father used to love his work and became very serious when it came to making coffee, which is why he sealed that genie there to protect our family's legendary coffee machine from competitors, and no one can use it unless they win the challenge of three sips."

Dayas:

"Challenge what?"

Professor Qwiz:

"It's a test my father created for those who want to take over his machine, and the challenger must take three sips from the challenge cup. Each sip will show you a test of something specific that reminds you of an embarrassing moment, and to win, you must confess that moment."

Dayas:

"Huh, the challenge seems suitable for my situation."

Professor Qwiz approaches the machine, placing a floral cup on it, then presses a small red button hidden underneath, filling the cup with coffee. Dayas looks at the cup, thinking for a moment, then takes his first sip, and a green hair comb suddenly appears floating in front of him. Dayas smiles confidently and says:

"Before my feelings completely disappeared in my childhood, I used to hide Scorpy's comb when he took a shower so that he wouldn't style his hair because he was more handsome than me."

As soon as Dayas finishes speaking, the comb disappears, and the genie nods his head, confirming the correctness of the answer. Dayas takes the second sip, and this time a red ruler appears in front of him, and he laughs, saying:

"Oh, hehehe, in my first school year, I pretended that I wanted to borrow a ruler from a girl in my class to steal it because I liked its color, but that girl thought I was trying to get close to her and slapped me in front of everyone."

Professor Qwiz:

"Ahahaha, you are really straightforward."

Dayas also succeeds in the second sip, so he takes the third sip, and this time, in a strange way compared to the previous times, a pair of round prescription glasses appears, prompting Professor Qwiz to mutter to himself:

"Hmm, these glasses look familiar to me; I think I've seen something like them a long time ago."

Dayas:

"I see that people who wear glasses look beautiful."

The glasses then disappear, leaving Dayas smiling, but suddenly the glasses reappear, transforming into a huge, angry monster attacking him. Professor Qwiz calmly says while sipping his coffee:

"Finally, some excitement."

Dayas turns to his teacher in astonishment, saying:

"What the…!"

Professor Qwiz:

"Oh, sorry, I forgot to tell you, if you lie in one of the sips, the thing will turn into a powerful monster you have to kill."

Dayas, while trying to escape from the monster:

"So, why don't you help me now?"

Professor Quiz, sitting and sipping coffee with the genie:

"Sorry, I can't intervene, it's your test."

Dayas stands face to face with the monster, trying to confront it but to no avail, so he decides to keep running when Professor Qwiz calls out to his student, saying:

"Hey Dayas, if you can't kill it, just tell the truth."

Dayas, shouting while still running away from the monster comically:

"But I said it."

Professor Qwiz:

"You're lying, come on, you have nothing to lose."

Dayas closes his eyes, trying to think about it, but his thoughts shift to something else, and he suddenly feels embarrassed as he remembers his wishes and adds, smiling:

"I wish to kill this monster."

The monster then explodes, leaving its red glasses on the ground, and Professor Qwiz strikes his fist with the fist of the demon, saying:

"I'll see you later my friend."

He then gets up from his place, picking up the glasses from the ground and hiding them in his coat while saying to Dayas:

"What do you think about working at the café?"

Dayas replies, panting:

"I think that's good; it's the best I can do right now."

Professor Qwiz, smiling:

"Then you can start cleaning."

Dayas and Professor Qwiz continue to clean and organize the café for the opening as dawn approaches, and Dayas says to his teacher, adding:

"Finally, we're done. So when does my shift start?"

Professor Qwiz:

"You can be a little late tomorrow; you worked hard today."

Dayas:

"That suits me, have a good night."

But before he is about to leave, Professor Qwiz hands Dais that yellow cup, saying to him:

"Oh wait, I almost forgot, take this... it's your father's favorite cup; he left it with me a long time ago."

Then he adds:

"And also, I noticed something strange in the test; the first two things reminded you of memories before you completely lost your feelings, but the last one..."

Dayas interrupts him while trying to secure the cup to his belt, saying:

"Okay, I know what you're thinking, but believe me, I'm not sure either."

Professor Qwiz:

"And one more thing, we will take advantage of your break tomorrow to summon your companion horse."

Dayas:

"What! But I failed the summoning class at the beginning of the year."

Professor Qwiz:

"As you know, our academy's first director, Mr. Tefsuit the Elder, contracted with the Kingdom of Magical Horses a long time ago, and since you are one of its students and have not officially been separated yet, you still have the right to summon your horse."

As soon as Professor Qwiz finishes speaking, a strange magical portal suddenly opens out of nowhere, pulling Dayas inside it, and Professor Qwiz takes a sip of coffee and then adds:

"It seems we won't be waiting until tomorrow."
