Chapter 3 - The Test of the Long Clan

Long Tian was laying in his bed. His room was simple in design but very big in size.

The walls were white and there were dragon symbols on each of them. On a corner of the room there was a desk.

This was the room of the Young Master of the Long Clan, used by the last 7 Young Masters, spanning hundreds of years.

It did not look very impressive but was one of the most secure locations in the Long Planet, having the latest defensive solutions of Dragon Industries.

The house the room was in had a kitchen, a meeting room, a bathroom attached to the bedroom and no windows, instead relying on artificial windows that basically recreated everything its sensors detected outside on the inside in a controlled manner.

Long Tian lay there thinking of the little scolding he got from his parents and the Elder that was overseeing his first entry into the sanctuary.

Entering the sanctuary as the Young Master of the Long Clan was not like when other people did.

The Long Clan has a tradition of putting their Young Masters, people who will lead the clan in the future, through a little bit of a test.

During the first sanctuary, he can't use his identity or money to get any advantage, the only thing he can bring from outside the sanctuary are common clothes provided by the clan and a 0.1% Z-Metal sword, which while stronger than steel, is nothing impressive in the alliance.

All this so that he could train his skills and not just freeload off the clan.

So, the plan had been that he would enter the sanctuary, discover the number of the shelter he was in and wait for the clan to send people to observe and protect him.

All this so that he would not break the rules and to make sure he wouldn't offend someone he shouldn't and be killed or banished from the shelter.

So, he was now waiting for the clan to find someone close to that shelter and send them there. It has happened before that this took months, such as when his father entered for the first time.

This was because the sanctuaries were too big. Really, normally there were at least 500 kilometers between each shelter, and from what he knew, there were hundreds of thousands just in the vicinity of the one he appeared in.

So, this process relied mostly on luck, even with the size of the Long Clan.

He was now in his room so that his family would not notice any inconsistencies with him. Even with the memories of Long Tian, he was still a different person deep down, making him worry.

His plan now was to train in the Dragon Foundation Art that he currently used, as with his fitness breaking the limit, he could now practice it to the 15th level.

He also had to get used to this new strength and perfect his combat moves so that he wouldn't get himself killed when he finally returned to the sanctuary.

He had investigated the system too.

There were thousands of options in the shop in each category and this was just for the first sanctuary.

Speaking of sanctuaries, humanity was currently in the sixth one, and at the end of it too, as there were multiple people known to be able to ascend any time they want.

They were reportedly polishing their foundations before ascending. Basically, increasing their Fitness level as much as they could so that the multiplier when ascending would be most effective.

This was a cause of great tensions, as everyone was wary that one of their peers would ascend first, get a massive boost and try to kill everyone that could threaten them to become the sole ruler of the alliance.

Anyway, this was not his concern right now.

His concern was understanding the geography around the shelter he appeared in and the beasts around it.

For that, he was using his Cellphone, yes, in the future there were cellphones, what a shocker.

The main difference between what he was holding now and the ones he remembered from earth is its size.

The thing was minuscule, basically an iPod. It worked through hologram projection, creating a screen any size you wanted.

He was searching in multiple sanctuary forums, from the official one to the most popular ones. Trying to find any useful information.

From what he had found so far, the shelter was in a massive plains biome that extended through multiple shelters.

The beasts were mostly terrestrial that formed massive herds.

The usual strategy was to form grand hunting parties, with thousands or even tens of thousands of members and target a single herd, killing as many beasts as possible and sharing the meat later.

There were no current sightings on Sacred Blood let alone Super Beasts, which could become a problem for him.

But it was good that they hid while he couldn't enter the First Sanctuary.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

Long Tian got up and went to open it, as his door was not automatic, security reasons apparently.

Outside were two middle-aged looking men, the two looked almost identical, as if twins.

However, one stood at a little above 2 meters high, while the other was at least four meters high.

From his memories and interactions he had since returning to the clan, he knew they were his father and grandfather.

Gene Points granted extended lifespan and there were multiple ways to increase size, so his grandfather looking way younger and bigger than he should did not seem strange.

"Tian'er,", his father started,

"Come with us."

Long Tian rapidly nodded and followed behind them.

They were silent along the way, Long Tian thinking what could possibly have happened that they were searching for him after dismissing him only a few hours earlier.

After leaving his house, they walked the winding mountain paths, ascending towards the top of the biggest mountain on Long Planet, the Dragon Mountain.

They walked for ten minutes, during which they crossed a very large distance. With the lowest fitness being Long Tian, that was supposed to have 5.0, that was only natural.

Near the top of the mountain, there was a massive building. It looked like a temple, with massive pillars engraved with Dragons.

It very much looked like a much bigger Parthenon.

This was the Long Hall, where the patriarch and the elders decided on the important matters of the clan.

The three entered the hall and were immediately assaulted by a pressure.

This was not physical pressure, but a spiritual one. This was inevitable, as anyone that could be in this hall as a decision maker were Gene Generals, and strong ones at that.

With their Spiritual Sea well developed, they emitted pressure even if they restrained themselves, which they were doing, due to Long Tian.

At the far end of the hall, there was an elevated ground where the elders and the patriarch stood.

There were 19 people there, looking at them. The majority were old men, but there were three women among the group and one middle aged man in the center.

The middle-aged man was the patriarch, Long Han, ranked tenth on the Dragon List, meaning he was the tenth strongest human in existence. Just being in his presence felt a little suffocating.

"Long Chen, Long Ming, you may leave now."

The patriarch's voice sounded, and the father and son duo bowed and left without saying anything.

Left standing there, before the strongest people in the Long Clan, was Long Tian, who was a bit nervous inside, fearing that they would discover something, with their spiritual seas being advanced and all of that, who knew.

"Long Tian,", the patriarch commenced,

"As the 12th Young Master of the Long Clan, you carry heavy responsibilities and duties."

"As your elders, we must make sure that you are ready for them. So, starting from now, you are officially under the Dragon Test, you may not use the influence or the resources of the clan until you ascend to the second sanctuary."

"You may not stay in the alliance for more than one hour per day, and no one is allowed to help beyond what is deemed absolutely necessary by the council."

"Should you break these rules, you shall lose your position as the Young Master and the Long Clan shall be without a Young Master until your first son is born."

"You are dismissed."

Long Tian was a little confused inside, as this should only happen when they found someone to oversee him in the first sanctuary.

Anyway, he bowed to the patriarch and left the Long Hall.

Only to find his father and grandfather outside, waiting for him.

"Tian'er, I know you must be a bit surprised, even we were. But we have found someone to be the overseer of your test, so you can enter the sanctuary at any time."

Long Ming said, seeing the confused expression of his son.

"Long Tian, remember this, as Young Master of the clan, you are the face of the clan and its future, I hope you will surpass me and your father and bring glory to the clan."

Long Chen, his grandfather said, his voice sounding deep and serious.

"And also, be careful not to keep others waiting."

He said with a peculiar expression on his face and left, going back down the mountain.

"Let's go Tian'er, the identity information should have been sent to you already, remember, the only thing that is absolute is power. If you have enough power, no amount of money or influence will be able to suppress you."

Then, Long Ming and Long Tian started descending the mountain again. Both headed back to the teleportation square, where Long Tian would finally enter the sanctuary for real this time.

While they descended, Long Tian grabbed his cellphone and opened it, realizing he had received a message with his new identity information.

He would be known as Tang Tian, a 16-year-old from a common family that lived on a small planet in an unimportant galaxy, basically an out-of-hand place.

After memorizing his identity, they reached the square.

On the teleporter, Long Tian looked at his father, nodded at him and disappeared, this time entering as a new Long Tian, but undoubtedly one with much more potential and one that would cause grand changes in the future.
