Appearing back in the place this body had already died once made Long Tian question how the hell did the original die in the first place.
Stepping out of the teleporter, he thought of many possibilities, but most of them could only be true if Long Tian had been less than 16 years old, which he was not.
After going through the possibilities, Long Tian could only assume that whatever brought him here made the favor of vacating a good body for him.
'Okay, enough of this.', Long Tian thought looking up.
Forgetting about this momentarily, he started planning his next steps.
'First order of business, hunting. I must at least get the first Gene Points before people start wondering how I am so strong right now.'
'Then, I have to figure out how I am going to get the Super Beasts, as they are too rare and always in demand.'
'I could make some alliances and maybe if I prove my value people will take me with them when they go hunting one. Or...'
'I could make my own force, maybe a gang or a team, that would be more in line with what is expected of me and also would increase my chances of getting my hands on a Super Beast.'
Having planned for long enough, Long Tian finally left his room, once again descending the stairs and leaving the building, making sure to memorize its number, 3423.
On the street, with his common clothes and sword attached to his belt, he did not attract any attention.
He started walking while thinking back to what he found out about the shelter's structure.
There was one major force in this shelter, the military. They controlled most shelters at the sanctuary's lower levels and this was one of them.
The leader of the military gang, as they were called, was Qin Ling, she was the shelter owner and also the strongest person in the shelter. It was said that she was aiming to be a Super Evolver, ascending with full Super Points.
There were also other minor powers in the shelter, but the most significant one were members of Tier 1 families at best, nothing too relevant.
At that moment, Long Tian reached the gate, as his room was located close to the north gate.
Looking at that sea of people coming and going, Long Tian couldn't help but feel some emotions.
He had transmigrated, assumed a new identity, and now had a new family. But he had barely interacted with anyone to decrease the chances of anyone noticing.
Now, he was to set out into the wilderness of the sanctuary, a place where he could die at any moment, all of this for power.
'No, for more than power.', he thought at that moment.
'I will do this to choose, to have the power to choose what happens with me. So that nothing can just decide to kill me and send me to another universe.'
'I will do this for my freedom, for in this world only the strong can be free.'
After that, he started walking outside the sanctuary, the air around him somewhat different.
Some thugs that were eyeing him because of his newbie attire suddenly stopped.
Their leader says,
"Forget it, that guy is giving me the same vibes as those from the military gang."
They then continued looking for another target.
...
After walking northeast for more than an hour, Long Tian reached his destination, a river that cut through the plains. This river extended through multiple shelters, cutting through the entire plains and flowing out into the massive sea that existed east of the plains.
This was the biggest body of water in the region of the shelter, so there is always a multitude of beasts coming to drink water here.
Long Tian came here because this is his best bet to find beasts that are not in herds. As he can't take on an entire herd of more than 1000 beasts by himself, at least not for now.
There are some rumors that those with the maximum fitness in the first sanctuary are virtually immune to beasts that are not Super Rank, but he will have to test this in the future.
"Alright, now comes the waiting part."
And so Long Tian did, waiting for some lone beasts to appear in a tree that was some 50 meters away from the river.
Two hours passed without any lone beasts appearing.
Long Tian saw a group of beasts pass on the other side of the river. They appeared like some species of blue elephant, same size as one, with massive trunks.
However, just from what he could see, there were more than 1000 of them, and he could see some bigger ones deeper into the herd.
Seeing such a massive herd of what could only be described as blue elephants made Long Tian truly realize how different a world he was in now.
During these two hours while the elephant herd passed, the sky started dimming, gradually emitting less light on the sanctuary.
The sky of the sanctuary was another interesting phenomenon, there was no sun, as probably no star was big enough to illuminate all the sanctuary, but the sky itself gave light.
No one knew where the light came from and how it mimicked a day and night cycle, but it did, and with precise same daytime period as the Origin Planet of humanity.
Long Tian did not know why they didn't call it Earth and instead called it Origin Planet, but that is how people call it here.
After almost three hours of waiting in the tree, Long Tian finally saw something he could hunt.
A small pack of dog-like beasts.
They appeared weak enough, barely a meter tall, and with only 5 beasts together, Long Tian reasoned he would not have a better opportunity than this.
So, he rapidly jumped from the tree and started approaching the dogs.
Meanwhile, the dogs were alert while one of them drank water, a common strategy to not be taken by surprise.
At that moment, one of the dogs noticed Long Tian approaching them and started to growl.
Its actions alerted the rest of the pack, who all looked at Long Tian too and started to growl together.
Reaching 20 meters of distance, Long Tian felt it was enough and suddenly dashed with his full strength.
He almost overshot the beasts and fell into the river but managed to stop in front of one of them.
The beast immediately lunged at him, but to Long Tian, the beast seemed to be in slow motion.
His muscle memory then took over.
Rapidly drawing the sword and slashing at the beast, he ended up bisecting it.
Two halves falling to each side, blood and guts falling out, the momentum of the impact of the sword sent the two halves flying into the river, carried away by the river.
Long Tian suddenly puked while a new voice sounded in his head.
{Ordinary Beast Small Jackal killed. Beast Soul of Ordinary Small Jack- Error}
*Ding*
[Detected Host killed first Gene Beast, taking over Beast Soul rewards function]
[Ordinary Beast Small Jackal killed. Beast Soul of Ordinary Small Jackal gained.]
[Supreme Evolution activated. Beast Soul of Primitive Small Jackal gained.]
[Eat its flesh to gain up to 100 Ordinary Gene Points.]
Everything happened too fast, from killing the small jackal to puking to hearing these absurd announcements on his head.
Just as Long Tian was about to regain his bearings, he felt something smash into him.
However, the force felt more like someone had slightly bumped into him.
Looking up, he saw a jackal on the ground, clearly having pounced at him but having the same effect as jumping into a wall.
Long Tian inwardly marveled at the resistance of his body while finally straightening up and dashing at the remaining Jackals.
*Ding*
*Ding*
*Ding*
*Ding*
Four Dings later and the jackals were dead on the floor, this time just decapitated.
Long Tian then turned his attention to the messages.
[Ordinary Beast Small Jackal killed. Beast Soul of Ordinary Small Jackal gained.] x4
[Supreme Evolution activated. Beast Soul of Primitive Small Jackal gained.] x4
[Eat its flesh to gain up to 100 Ordinary Gene Points.] x4
Long Tian couldn't believe it.
Was the system really that broken, capable of not only a 100% drop rate on beast souls but it also increased its grade by one.
The first thing that went through his mind was that he really wanted to kill a Super Beast right now just to see what would drop.
Also, it looked like he could get 100 Gene Points from just one beast. That is incredibly broken as well, he only had to find one beast of each rank and he would be complete in Gene Points.
Although all of this was amazing, Long Tian couldn't help but shudder when he thought what would happen If the jackals were stronger and they caught him retching in the middle of the fight.
He had to get better at fighting, a lot better.
Luckily, this was relatively simple, he just had to fight and kill more and he would become better.
'Yeah, about the killing part becoming easy…'
He was still thinking as a modern 21st century young man, after all, less than 12 hours ago, he was one.
'Freedom, remember.'
Steeling himself, he then started carrying the carcasses away from the river, back to the shelter so he could sell them and have some money to buy the things he would need.
…
In an obscure hall, a young woman knelt.
All around her was pure darkness, but she knew, in this darkness there was someone much more terrifying than darkness itself.
"Are you sure that you saw him?"
A raspy voice sounded, impossible to tell whether man or woman, old or young.
It sounded simply raspy, as if sound itself didn't dare to reveal the identity of the one speaking.
"Yes, master. Deep red eyes, looking lost and asking for the number of the shelter before hurrying back to the alliance."
The woman said, still looking down.
"Great, you have done well."
That was the last thing she heard before the darkness engulfed her.
"Finally found one of you guys, the Ancestor will be pleased."
A light laugh sounded before the darkness receded, revealing a dark empty alley in a city.
No signs that anything happened were present, as if it had been a mere illusion.
