"Hey! Watch out for-" Kaylah had started to say before her twin brother, Satori, got hit in the back of the head with a soccer ball. Satori crashed dramatically to the ground.
"Ow!" He cried. Kaylah ran over to him quickly, her face full of concern.
"Oh my god! Are you okay Satori?" He looked at me like I was crazy, he always looked like that. I always felt like that, anyway.
"Are you crazy? That could have given me a concussion! Go inside and get me some ice!" He said as he got up from the ground and sat down on a blue lawn chair.
"Well, you don't have to be so rude, but I'll go get it, because I care about you, and I love you, because you're my brother." Kaylah said as she rushed inside to get ice.
Satori sat in silence for a few moments. "Hey, I heard you snap at Kaylah again, is everything okay?" A voice cut through the silence as a boy with messy, blond hair, white shirt and black jeans entered the yard.
"Ugh, first of all, Gavin, you don't have to come over and no, I'm not okay." Satori responded, clearly annoyed by Gavin's presence. A look crossed his face, like a lightbulb going off in his head. "Wait, I just thought of something, do you like Kaylah? Since you come to see her every day?"
Gavin looked surprised, streaks of pink slowly spread across his face."Oh- I, uhm." He managed as Kaylah came out of the house holding an ice pack.
"Oh hello Gavin, I didn't know you'd be coming today" She said as she walked over to Satori and gave him the ice pack, He put it to his head.
"Well, you know the Christmas dance, and that stuff?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"That's the reason that I'm here," He said while looking at the ground, as he continued, "Did anyone ask you to go yet?"
"No, why?" Kaylah responded, a bit perplexed.
He looked very timid, "Can you- will you- uhm, would you like to go to the dance with me?" He asked apprehensively as he brushed his fingers through his hair.
"Oh, uhm, well…" Kaylah started.
"No! I object, I will not let my own twin sister go out to the dance with a stupid, dumb, idiotic guy like Gavin!"
Gavin looked at the ground, a frown and a look of frustration splashing across his face. "I'll just go-"
Kaylah shifted nervously, an anxious weight to the air. "No! I would love to go to the dance with you Gavin!" She said quickly, trying to make Gavin not be mad at her or anything. "It'll be fine. Nothing bad can happen. It's just Gavin." A voice in her head exclaimed loudly.
"R-r-really? Y-you will?" Gavin tried to pull himself together, but before he knew it, he was hugging her like he hadn't seen her in years. "Thank you! Thank you!" He shouted a bit.
"Okay, Okay, enough, I will let her go with you, but just stop hugging, It's weird!" Satori told Gavin. Gavin pulled back, looking very embarrassed, He took more steps back until he was about five feet away.
"It's okay." Kaylah quickly assured him, her mind screaming.
"Hey, Kaylah, What's this?" Satori said way too innocently as he pulled a small black notebook out of his sleeve.
"Satori! Where did you find that? Put that down!" She yelled at him.
"Maybe I'll put it down, if you just admit that you love Gavin." Kaylah's face turned instantly red.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." She said as calmly as she could.
"Should I go?" Gavin asked. Satori looked over at Gavin, got up, and walked slowly towards him until he was a few feet away.
"Oh Gavin, poor, simple, confused Gavin. Isn't it obvious? My dear sister Kaylah has a crush on you," Satori stopped, and laughed. "And it's quite clear that you like her too, so why can't you just admit it?" Satori backed up a little, just as Gavin's face turned bright red as he looked at the ground. After a few minutes, his face went back to normal.
He looked up at Satori and muttered "Why would you ever assume that?" Gavin stared at Satori, clearly waiting for an answer, but was surprised with the response.
Satori took a few steps closer, and laughed and said "Gavin, Gavin, Gavin, you're just the same as my sister, stubborn as a mule! You hang out with her everyday, you always insist on me not being there, you even ask her to the Christmas dance! It's very, and I mean very, it's very obvious that you both like each other." Satori finished with a smirk.
Kaylah tried to back away slowly into the house, when Gavin, surprisingly enough, walked straight up to her, and whispered in her ear, "You know, Satori isn't wrong, about me. You know, about me liking you. Do you like me?" Gavin asked extremely shyly.
Kaylah looked astonished, she just couldn't believe it. Satori was in the background, sitting on a lounge chair, looking pleased although he didn't even know what they were talking about, but somehow, he knew.
"Oh- uhm. Yeah, it's true, I do like you…" Kaylah whispered back to Gavin nervously.
Gavin stared at her for a few seconds, then whispered in her ear. "Will you- Would you like to be more than just friends?" Gavin asked.
Kaylah looked away for a second, then looked back at him, and whispered her response, "I don't really see why not." Kaylah finished it with a smile.
"Hey! What are you two whispering about?" Satori asked as he got up and walked towards them. As soon as Satori got within ten feet, Gavin immediately backed away. Satori ignored Gavin, and walked towards Kaylah instead, "Kaylah, stay away from him." Satori told Kaylah sharply. Next Satori walked up to Gavin, "Stay away from my sister. Or else." Satori threatened Gavin, and as Gavin was about to say something, Satori punched him hard in the chest, which made Gavin fall to the ground.
Kaylah jumped forward. "Satori! Why would you do that?" Kaylah walked up to Gavin, and helped him get up.
"Hey! Be nice, Satori! If you're always rude, then I won't come back here!" Gavin shouted as he stood up. Kaylah walked back and sat down on the step to the door.
Satori took a threatening step towards Gavin. "Good. Then leave, don't come back. Just stay away from my sister! I wouldn't care if you were sick and dying. No one wants you here Gavin. Now go! You're never going to see Kaylah again!" Satori yelled.
Before Gavin was going to answer, Satori walked towards Kaylah, grabbed her wrist, and picked her up to her feet, and walked her inside. Their house from the inside was, indeed, small. It was quite beautiful: smooth hardwood floors, clean white walls, black countertops, white cabinets, and a beautiful cedar wood table. Kaylah began to cry. "Satori? Am I really never going to see Gavin again?"
Satori shifted his weight a little before replying. "You're not in a million years going to see him again, I will not allow you to be friends with him. I don't trust him, I hate people who claim to have 'Perfect' blond hair."
Kaylah backed away, crying a little more, sniffled, and said "But- You always said that I have perfect blonde hair." Kaylah, not being able to control herself, rushed to her room.
Satori was trying to think of something to say, but ended up not thinking of a good thing to say. Satori said nothing and went to his room.
