Chapter 4 - Arrows, Flickers and Barbecue

<———«

An arrow shot through the empty sky, it was dark. Yet this one was lightened up by stars and sorrows. The nearby lands were not mere towns and villages, but whole modern city's. People walking on the streets, yet the arrow seemed to be within its outskirts! – There stood, a middle aged man who seemed in the peaks of his strenght, black raven hair with white stripes. Standing by the side as he watched a small group, whom all seemed to be in their early twentys.

One, a lady with dyed hair tips, seemingly going from a brown to a light blue, was wielding a bow. The arrow shot by her piercing the sky and stars as it hit into the target!

Two, a man with blond hair. Wielding a sword, slashing at a dummy without rest, his blade made of white steel. He seemed to be calm, a small grin residing on his face as some drops of sweat moved down his forehead.

Three, another young lady. Her hair was fully dyed gray. Somehow she did not look old but rather stood out. She was wielding a big, warhammer. You could even question how such thing could be carried by a human. Maybe even a few.

Four, a second man seemed to be in the corner holding a white crystal like dagger. He seemed more agile than the rest. Contested only by their teams bow man. His hair was red, brushing against the dummy on multiple occasions as he moved around it with a decent speed.

"Good! Good! Though you all have a lot of progress to make, remember to not focus on just yourself. While effective, you are supposed to work as a team, attack in groups and make openings for eachother. Such is the art of battle, you can think. The enemy does not. Let such be your advantage you are not a puppet of lost shards."

Spoke the middle aged man, giving a small smile. At his neck stood a necklace of white seashells, it did not go well with the black and red outfit. So it was rather peculiar. Perhaps like a star in a dark sky.

And as such. The man's words echoed loudly into the training ground, seemingly it was surrounded by a forestry area and one bigger building. – Suddenly. A small squeak could be heared. As the bowmans arrow shot out accidently. Imbedding itself into the middle aged man's leg!

"FEN IM SO SORRY-!"

Spoke the bowman swiftie, her eyes moving. Clearly embarrassed. – Why wasn't she worried?

"WHAT THE FU- AGAIN?! MINA! "

He spoke, pain in his voice. Yet he leaned and grasped the arrow. Clenching his teeth as he swiftly pulled it out with a groan. – The wound suddenly started to just heal, flesh swiftly growing where it was supposed to be.

"I'm soorryyyyy-! You heal it anyway! Stop complaining Fen. . ."

Was she gonna shoot him again for complaining? Maybe, only the stars know what the future holds.

"Fine. . But just because I am immortal is NOT a reason to use me as a dummy. . "

He spoke with a sigh, jesting with his words as he chuckled. Mina, the light blue bowman seemingly walked over.

"Alright, alright. Everyone come over, it's enough training for today. Let's go get some pizza or something eh?"

Fen added, giving a chuckle. The situation was fun in the end. But the abrupt change surely would bring up the groups morale. . After hitting him in the leg. – Yet. None but Mina heared him.

"ALRIGHT. Up UP! Mina! Rowan! Elaine! Noah!"

He spoke out loudly. Going in order. Bowman, Swordsman, Hammer-man, Dagger-man! Quite a funny order if we didn't take how their skills sound in order. No? – And as such they gave their own sighs, slowly making their ways over as they sheathed their weapons. Bow on the back, sword at the waist. Hammer. . In hand! And dagger hidden. . He stood and blinked for a moment.

"Do you want to get shot? Conceal the weapons then we leave."

He spoke. Looking at the three thar haven't. The swordsman simply hid it under his clothing. Seemingly more comfortable. The bowman tapped it the bow as it compressed itself in just the middle part of the wood. And the hammer went along in a small cube. Magically hidden!

"Finally you aren't morons anymore! Right so. . Where are we going to eat?"

Fenrir asked. . Not knowing himself. He thought, but didn't think that far. He gave a small chuckle.

"I choose! And itsss! Barbecue!"

Noah spoke. Seemingly he was also hyperactive, not just agile! He gave a small chuckle.

"Right Right. You wouldn't mind if I pick someone up on the way do you? A youngling, a certain someone would get mad at me if I don't. And you wouldn't want to be in my place. So no ain't an answer, so don't bother!"

He spoke, smiling as he already began walking off towards the forest area, headed towards what seemed like a parking lot. And as such, the other four followed along. Smilling widely. . Perhaps it was the night ending, or the fact Fen would pay!

As such the sun slowly rose with time. The group first made a stop at the college dorms. The four warriors changing into casual clothes. It was a nice day, the sun beaming down like a falling star. Fragments breaking of it mayhaps, an unbroken harmony.

Their morning was nice in the end. They got up early, trained with the others, told jokes and had fun. – Perhaps the only fact to be depressed about is due to the reason they were training the first place. Made to be knights of the ultimate kind. Maybe one day they will even conquer the lands from whatever enemy was said to be approaching at every moment.

As such, came the time for their actual journey. To eat! This took a while in the end, so most of them were really starving for that food. There was really nothing to complain about when going to eat barbecue, so most of them were just silent in the car. It was quite spacious, it was an eight seat car. Yet the back seats were rotated so all of them could see eachother. It was quite wonderful. Fen and Rowan were sitting infront. Perhaps a good idea. He was good at keeping him up and aware of the road. While the rest were in the back.

"Keep silent, don't say anything stupid. I'm picking up a child."

Fen spoke as his eyes fixated on the road, seemingly they were entering a more dorm-like area of a high-school. And as such, he stopped by one of them. Just starting to wait.

"A high school dorm. . Please tell me he's atleast a major. I can't deal with kids!"

Elaine spoke, not really joking. She sounded like they really despise younger children! And honestly. . I get them.

"It's a sixteen year old. Don't bother, he behaves and is nice. . Just his speech is peculiar."

Fen answered, giving a small sigh. He was honestly wondering what took this long. Looking genuinely worried of the time.

"Better be, or I'll deal with the delinquent.

The person answering was Rowan, seemingly finally decided being silent for the time being. Giving a small sigh. – In the end they did not have the time to say another word.

Leaving the dorm, was an usual student. Or better said our usual student. – Tris, our loved star light bard seemingly was carrying around a bag. Perhaps of books, but in the end classes did not happen yet, summer break was still going for at least a few days. He simply moved over, opening the door and sliding inside. Taking a seat and dropping the bag next to him with a sigh.

"Morninng!~ How has this beautiful night treated you Fen? Even if bad, Sol's blessing always comes after a cold night. No?"

Tris spoke, his tone poetic, his hair still dyed white.

"What is up with the hair. It is not winter you know?"

Fen asked, as the others remained silent at the youngling and his way of speech. Fen just began driving on. Not having what to wait for anymore.

"Don't ask, I'm not gonna keep going with that shit and get weird looks. ."

The Bard spoke with a mumble, his ears giving a flicker, the moment that happened, Mina grinned lightly, making a small sound of awe.

"Aww- His ears just flickered! Guys did you see that?! He's like a cute little Animal! His hair is white too! Fen is he snow fox?!"

Mina spoke out, grinning. Tris blinked twice, his ears going up. He gave a small sigh.

"Fen. . I did not know you got a new parrot. . I would've gotten my ear plugs. ."

He spoke. Looking over the seats at him. Fen did not answer, just giving a smile with his head facing the road and paying it attention.

"Hmm, maybe I should braid his hair. Maybe once we will play dress up! You wouldn't mindddd. Right Fen? He'd looks so cute in a little white shirt maybe a little flower crown. I'm just dying to imagine!~"

She grinned. Not answering to his insult but just begging to bully the Bard further. Fen on the other side of the car almost let out a small laugh, still not answering. Wonder how long she could keep it going without any type of assistance. Tris on the other side. Was not happy!

"Touch me and I will bite. ."

He whispered out weakly. Perhaps that wasn't the best word to say, but surely it should and would make her shut up. . Right? – No, it didn't.

"Ah- Fen! You should have told me. . I would have grabbed a muzzle on the way! Isn't he just so cute."

As Mina spoke, Fen just started laughing hysterically, Tris went silence and just buried his head in his back. Seems this trip was interesting!

"Alright, that's enough. Stop pestering the boy. We're going to get barbecue, not cooled fox-boy. We are almost there!"

Fen spoke, the grin remaining on his face. Mina just giving a chuckle over her own.

"I'm not hungry. I'll sit in the car. I ate at home.

He added blankly. Tris seemingly wasn't happy with his current predicaments. Just as the starless sky of the magical world. He has been times. But in the end he can make his own choices. Like how the stars choose to disappear.

"As you wish."

Fen answered, starting to pull into a parking lot, perhaps the one of the barbecue restaurant. Seemingly stopping the car in a space. Mine seemed disappointed, Elaine maybe a bit, Tris surely wasn't like the average sixteen year old by the looks of it. Rowan and Noah didn't seem to care that much. Just grinning at the interaction.

As such the five got out and left. Leaving the boy to his own things. . Tris just got out a small book from the bag and started writing away. . Perhaps the easiest thing to do for time to pass.
