Allison's POV
Katie looked between us, bewildered. Mason just kept staring at me, smiling.
God, he's a sexy man.
"Huh? What do you mean you know each other?"
I didn't know what to say. I was unsure of how much Mason wanted people to know. He must've picked up on my hesitation because he was the one to break the silence.
"Why did you take off on me before I woke up this morning?" he asked with a huge grin plastered on his face.
Katie's mouth dropped open and Evan's eyes went wide.
"I didn't mean to stay the night. I don't do that, " I told him.
Katie kept looking between us as we spoke like she was watching a tennis match.
"So, you woke up and realized that you were still in my bed; then you thought you'd just leave without saying anything?"
"I, um...I...yeah, I did. I'm sorry. I just don't stay the night. So, when I woke up next to you, I freaked and left."
"Wait a minute! This is the hot guy from last night?" Katie interjected.
I gave her a mental eye roll. Ugh, thanks for that, Katie.
Mason raised an eyebrow at me, giving me the 'Oh, really?' look.
My cheeks burned. I just smiled and tried to change the subject. "Uh, yeah. Now, what's good to eat here? I'm starving!"
"I bet. It sounds like you worked up an appetite last night with this 'hot guy' over here," Evan teased as he stuck out his thumb and pointed in Mason's direction.
He and Katie laughed, but Mason ran his fingers through his hair and gave him a shy smile.
*****
The rest of dinner went by pretty painlessly, besides a couple of cracks from Evan and Katie. When it came time to pay the bill, Mason scooped mine up and threw his card in the book, handing it back to the server.
"Thank you, but you didn't have to do that," I told him.
Mason winked at me. "Oh, but I want to..."
I smirked. I see what he did there. He was using my words from last night. "No complaints here."
His eyebrows raised slightly. He knew what I meant.
"So, there's a bar around the corner from here. We should all go for a few drinks. They have karaoke tonight!!" Katie flashed me a huge smile.
"Oh, God…," I rolled my eyes.
"Karaoke?" Mason asked, confused.
"Yeah, they get pretty crazy with it. They pick out songs for each other that they have to sing. Whoever gets the least amount of applause, buys a round of drinks and has to chug theirs; then, blindly selects a song from the book. Same goes if you say no to a song or can't finish it," Evan responded.
"Hmm...sounds pretty intense. Will we all have to participate?" Mason implored.
I responded before anyone else had a chance. "Yes. Everyone participates."
Evan glared at me.
"Sorry, Evan. That's what you get for teasing us," I laughed.
We gathered ourselves up and headed out to the bar. As we walked, Mason put his hand on the small of my back, guiding me along with him.
His hands on my body, set all of my nerves ablaze. I just wanted to jump him right there on the sidewalk. I wanted more of him.
Mason's POV
We were a few songs in and more than a few drinks down. Katie was on the stage singing, 'What's Love Got To Do With It' by Tina Turner, as her blind selection song, due to the fact that she refused to sing a Spice Girls song that Evan picked out for her.
Allison was dancing and singing along in the seat next to me. I couldn't seem to stop watching her.
She is hands down, the best woman I've ever met. She is funny, outgoing, smart, daring, spontaneous and not to mention, a knockout. I just want to touch her and keep touching her. Everywhere.
"What?" Allison giggled, as she caught me staring at her.
"You are so cute, jamming out in your seat," I laughed.
She laughed, too. "Oh, yeah? Well, it's your turn next and you're not gonna think I'm 'so cute' when I pick you out a song."
I smiled at her. "Try me."
She raised her eyebrows and bit her bottom lip slightly. I couldn't help it. I was drawn to her. I leaned forward and pressed my lips to hers, sucking that bottom lip into my mouth before I pulled away.
Allison stared at me for a moment, looking at my lips before she turned her attention to the playbook. "Um...let's see...this one!" She pointed to a song.
I chuckled. "Really?"
She gave me a devilish grin. "What are you chicken?"
I smirked at her. She had a way of challenging me. I like that. "Not a chance."
