Chapter 12 - Mapped out

CHAPTER 12

She hoisted the small carry on bag over her shoulders and let out a deep breath, her grey eyes dim as she looked at her house. He couldn't help but turn his eyes to her with worry.

"Are you sure you want to leave all this behind?" Haniel asked as they looked upon the damaged house.

"There's nothing to leave" she answered with a warm smile, a genuine one as she turned around and began to walk, he nodded, choosing to believe her as he followed her behind her as they left the small peaceful town.

2 HOURS EARLIER

She looked around her home, broken walls, scattered glass, torn books, and dusty floors was all she could see, she sat on her chair and let out a sigh

"I can't stay here anymore," she sighed heavily, he looked at her.

"Why?"

"There's a hole running through my house," she explained.

"The hole can he fixed," he countered.

"I don't want it to be fixed, I don't want to live in fear of that devil coming back" she said calmly, the look in her eyes told him everything he wanted to know, she was scared, he sat beside her, wanting to tell her that it won't come back but he didn't know, he couldn't make that promise, Not at her expense.

"So where do you wanna go," he asked.

"Anywhere, maybe I can become a traveller," she said enthusiastically, there was a glint of joy in her eyes that washed away the deep seethed dread that remained heavy in her words, those eyes made it easier to believe her.

"So you just wanna wonder around," he asked jokingly.

"Yeah."

"Is that safe?" He questioned

"Not really but it will be if you come with me," she proposed.

"I, should come, with you?" he asked a little unsure if he heard her right.

"Yeah, then you can see the world and you can protect me," she convinced with a cheeky smile as she put her palms on his hands and looked into his eyes, her big eyes screaming with joy, he couldn't say no plus her idea sounded really good to him even if he found it strange that she would trust someone who she had known for less than a day to protect her.

"Ok I'll go with you," he agreed.

"Really?"

"Yes, but first you have to tell me something," he said.

"What is it?"

"What's your name?" He asked

"Rebecca," she answered with a bright smile.

They had been walking for hours now and she could easily say she was exhausted meanwhile not even a drop off sweat was present on him as he walked in strides, from time to time he'd stop and wait for her to catch up and when she did he'd continue walking, she tiredly ran towards him, huffing and puffing with exhaustion as she tried to catch her breath.

"Can I ask you something," she heard him say from infront of her

"Yeah anything," she replied

"Why where you living alone?" He asked, the question was an abrupt surprise.

"That's a story for another day" she said, jokingly dodging the question, He noticed but didn't say anything. She wasn't ready to remember nor talk about her reasons and he could respect that, she took in a deep breath and walked to his side.

Not to far away from them was two large trees that served as the entrance to a forest that would serve as their camp for the night.

"Let's go" she said tugging on his arm as she jogged forward.

Arthur ran through the halls as he approached Dwight's room, he pushed the large double doors and walked into the cold room, he looked around searching for Dwight but he could not find him.

"Hello Arthur," Dwight said from behind him, his heart flipped as he heard the sound of Dwight's voice.

"Hello my Lord," he greeted, Dwight walked past him and sat on the large chair, he closed his eyes and let out a breath and as he did the temperature of the room began to increase eventually becoming normal

"I came to give you this," Arthur said as he handed him the notepad he carried, Dwight collected it and looked at it intensely

"What is this?" He asked as he threw the notepad aside, not even opening it.

"Three other sightings of a devil presence close to the location where you fought that devil," Arthur explained

"You think it's the same one?" Dwight asked.

"Almost certain my Lord," Arthur answered, Dwight sighed as he got up from his seat walked past Arthur and out of the room.

"Where are you going my Lord?" as he closely followed him.

"The map," Dwight answered. The map room wasn't to far from his and it was normally empty due to no one making use of it anymore, they both walked in and immediately Dwight got to work, he dusted off all the maps he need and pinned them to the wall

"This is where I fought the devil," he said as he put a pin on what looked like deserted area.

"And the sightings where, here, here and here," Arthur said as he pinned three other locations, Being in Dwight's presence scared him but he knew that once it came to his job Dwight's personality changed, He was more serious and cared less about positions as far as you were of help, Dwight took a step back and looked at all the pinned locations and the image began to take form, he looked at the distance between all the locations and smiled.

"It's possible that it wasn't injured enough for it's movement to be restricted."

"Possibly, But I doubt it'll be in such good shape, which would explain why it would prefer an area less populated by angels."

"True," Dwight said then raised his eye to the map "So that's where you're hiding you piece of trash," He continued with a large grin.
