Chapter 17 - A Premature Ending

"Okay, one more time, and…. Hiss…. It is finally done!" Mira smiled at herself as she saw the bruises disappear from her tiny body. She was glad that no shattered glasses from the window stuck into her body, or things would be worse. "Speaking of which, where is Uncle Levin?" She couldn't help but wonder.

The girl had a lot of things to speak – well, more like a lot of grievances to vent out – to the soldier. After all, while she knew that Levin threw her out of the building for her sake, she still felt that he didn't have to do it so harshly. She could still remember vividly how scary it was right a second before she crashed into the window. Somehow, though, she forgot the feeling of being crushed by the gravity pressure coming from the boy earlier than that.

"Okay, now that I am good to move, what should I do?" She murmured to herself, gripping the wooden staff tightly. "I will not be able to help in the fight, but if I can get closer, maybe, I can use my restore spell to boost Uncle Levin's body for a second just like when he fought against the fire mage before. Would it work?" She frowned a little. However, when she saw everything on the ground lifted up so highly by the gravity manipulation from the boy, she gulped in fright before shaking her head quickly. "No, I cannot do that. I will only become a distraction for Uncle Levin. I should've just waited in a safe area."

Still, even though she went hiding, the girl didn't go too far, still having her eyes on the fight, preparing herself in case when her uncle suddenly needed her healing or restoring ability. She just hoped that things wouldn't go too far in the fight here.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, the boy was taken aback when he suddenly felt something hit his back. It wasn't enough to hurt him, of course, but the debris was still big enough to create a distraction. Of course, this wasn't the end of Levin's trick. No, he knew that the boy's control of gravity was terrifying, and if he used this chance to shoot carelessly, the boy would just use the debris as a shield or even take a huge leap in the air to avoid it easily. No, he needed to follow this through by creating more distractions to make the boy busy.

BAM!

BAM!

Another two shots were launched, and just as Levin expected, the boy avoided it like a pro. However, that wasn't Levin's intention in the first place. No, he wanted to aim for the ruins behind the boy that the boy himself threw there in an attempt to hit him earlier. Now, he used them as his weapon, and true enough, all the small debris shattered from the ruins flew simultaneously toward the boy.

"Argh! I have enough!" The boy roared, waving his hand violently.

BAM!

Just right after that, a wave of gravitational energy surged from the boy's body, repelling all the projectiles that came in his direction. For a moment, chaos emerged on the battlefield as all the big chunks of ruins rained down and created a small earthquake in the area nearby. However, Levin took advantage of that situation to fall back into the place where he calculated wouldn't get affected by the boy's ability.

Of course, he didn't try to run away. No, Levin knew that he still had one shot left before the gun in his hand ran out of its battery. So, without hesitation, he put it into max power mode, letting it gather all the remaining energy left stored inside the gun before aiming it straight at the boy's head.

KIIIIIIIIIIIII~~~~~

BAM!

Unfortunately, the disadvantage of the laser gun really showed in this case. Once its battery was below 20 percent, it would take about a few seconds to charge in, and the sound it made was so loud that it would alarm the enemy of it. That was why the standard requirement for the laser gun to be used in an operation was that it should've been above 60 percent before the soldier went on a mission.

Even though a few seconds was a short time and no ordinary person would be able to react so quickly to avoid the shot in that period, it was different in this game. The gravity manipulator really showed that even though he was just a teenager, he was also the chosen one from his world to join this battle royale.

Just right when the gun was still charging in, he noticed it, turning around quickly to see the laser coming to his head. However, right before the boy was going to jump to evade the shot, something suddenly flashed through his eyes, and he didn't know what happened. A second later, the shot seemed to speed up in the air.

'Shit! I mess up the timing!' He cursed inwardly, trying to brace the impact of the shot. True enough, in the next second, he felt a sharp pain as the laser bruised his shoulder, throwing him a few meters away from his original spot.

Brugh!

The additional pain from the impact he suffered due to his body being thrown away to the ruins behind him didn't make the boy feel better. As for Levin himself, he was also surprised that the boy got hit by the shot. Even though it was his last shot and he had already calculated everything in his mind, the soldier still recognized that the gravity manipulation ability was powerful enough to let the boy at least use the ruins around them as a shield. He had already prepared to launch himself into a close combat fight if the shot didn't bring any impact to the boy. Never in his mind he thought that the boy would fail to avoid the shot that was so loud and take a few seconds to charge in like before.

For a moment, a pin-drop silence fell on the battlefield as the two fighters were still looking at each other warily. Levin still had his laser gun up in his hand as if he was ready to shoot, doing this deliberately to conceal the fact that it couldn't shoot anymore. He didn't what was the boy's current condition, so it was better to maintain a tough appearance to make his enemy wary.

As for the boy himself, he also tried his best to conceal the pain he felt after getting hit by the laser. Although it wasn't a life-threatening one, this was the first time he was wounded in an open fight like this. Even in his old world when he died due to a sickness, he was still invincible compared to even the best warrior in the entire kingdom, so this physical pain was a new experience for him. Even though his strength was still there, he didn't dare to be careless and charged blindly, fearing that Levin still had something on his sleeve.

The long, tense silence between those two lasted pretty much about ten seconds before the boy finally barked out laughter. "Hahaha! Uncle, you really are interesting! I don't know what the dark flash that I saw before, but it seems that you still have more tricks to fight against me! Fine, you win! I will not pursue you anymore! Tell the scientist uncle that I will visit him in the future, but for now, let's call it a day! Remember that I, Mattheus Thuller, the strongest gravity manipulator in the world, will wait for you on top of the world! Until then, see you later, Uncle!"
