Chapter 16 - Fuck the butterflies

"Perhaps she is waking up?" Chris asks, looking at Luthien, who was engrossed, keeping watch on her face, studying her expression, "I don't know… maybe she is having a nightmare?" Luthien adds.

"Does someone in a coma… dream?" Chris asks, confused.

Luthien shrugs, "How would I know? Anyway, shut up… let her rest." Luthien huff, pulling himself back as he walks to the couch, settling down while Chris follows him, sitting beside him and looking at Sierra, who was back to expressionless.

"Dude… I am curious." Chris starts, heaving a sigh as he leans against the couch.

"You bet… I am all chaos up in my head. I can't make sense of anything at all." Luthien mumbles, looking down and intertwining his fingers.

"But why would… she be connected to you? Why? And how?" Chris asks, Luthien huffs, "Like I said, how would I know?" He replies, annoyed.

"It's time we go through the library in the mansion." Chris says, chuckling.

"Do that…" Luthien mumbles.

"But Luthien…" Chris starts, "Hmm?" Luthien mumbles.

"What will you do now?"

"What do you mean?" Luthien asks. Chris hmms, "Like… someone is trying to hurt you and even stole your core."

"And? I know nothing about it." Luthien huffs.

Chris rolls his eyes, "Like you don't! Someone stole your core! You must have witnessed someone!"

"I…" Luthien gulps, "Um, I fainted…you know?"

Chris huffs, not buying his words, "Yeah, of course." Luthien chuckles, "Whatever." He mumbles, rolling his shoulder as he stretches. "I think… I need Dad to bring that woman back into the picture." Luthien adds.

Chris frowns, confused. "Bring into the picture how?"

Luthien shrugs, "I mean… like before?"

Chris huffs, "Dude, that's crazy! Did you forget? She rejected you!"

Luthien raises a brow, "And?"

"I mean…you don't want her and.." His eyes move towards Sierra, and he continues, "I thought…you would, you know?"

Luthien shakes his head, "I can't pull her into my mess, Chris."

"But… she is connected already. Look at what happened…you can't defy this." Chris adds, snickering, "Also, I think you have good potential with her. Now, she isn't completely human."

Luthien chuckles, "No. Doesn't matter…I lost my core. Soon, I will have my abilities draining out… I can't protect her." He sighs, at last, probably worried yet anxious.

"Dude, she protected you. It seems like it will keep happening."

Luthien pouts, "I hate that. I should be the one doing… that." He mutters, cursing under his breath. Chris chuckles, "You can, someday."

"For that day to come… I will have to find my core." Luthien smiles.

Chris nods, "I will help, so…just be honest with me."

Luthien bites his lips, "There are lots… I have to tell you, but I can't understand them myself. So… give me some time. I did tell you most of it."

Chris nods, "But why would you want to bring that bitch of a girl into the picture?" He huffs, clearly unhappy.

Luthien raises a brow, "She was pretty fine to me. What's with this judgment?"

Chris chuckles, "Because she was probably trying to make you like her. Trust me on this, she is a total bitch." Luthien huffs, shaking his head with a chuckle. "I mean… I was myself, trying to impress her."

"Oh, shit." Chris laughs out loud.

"Tell me… why do you harbor such judgement?" Luthien pulls his leg up, leaning casually onto the couch.

"Hmm, how do I say it? She is kinda on the news most of the time." Chris shrugs, "She is?" Luthien asks, chuckling.

Chris nods, "Oh, not for good deeds. She once was in the news for exploiting her butler. That was epic." Chris adds, laughing. Luthien gasps, "That's abuse. She didn't seem like that at all."

Chris shakes his head, "Like I said, she was putting herself in good eyes."

"I can't put my mind at ease, I mean… she was timid, then." Luthien tilts his head, but then he remembers the day she rejected him, and he frowns, "Maybe not." He chuckles, shaking his head.

"You thought something-"

They froze, they felt a movement, both of their heads snapped towards Sierra, who was struggling, trembling, rushing to her side. Luthien held hers, "Sierra!" He shouts, shaking her subtly.

"Is this supposed to happen?" Chris asks, dialing for the doctor again.

"How would I know?" Luthien huffs, concerned and anxious.

But her movements halt, her breathing catches the pace, steadying, which made Luthien sigh in relief, but worried he looks at Chris, "She is calm again."

Chris nods, ending the call. "I wonder if she will wake-oh, oh!" Chris leans down, Luthien frowns, and looks at Sierra, and finds her eyes opening. "She is waking up." Luthien says, happy and at ease now that she is awake.

End of Third Pov

My head throbbed, my vision hazy as I tried to make sense of the space I was in. I groan, holding my head, I felt rustling and some voices. Closing my eyes shut I take in a steady breath.

"Are you okay?"

"Sierra?"

I frown. Who is that? I slowly blink my eyes open, I notice two heads peeking down at me, I gasp, jolting up, but my head bumps, "Ah!" Luthien gasps, massaging his head.

I winch, caressing my head, "What… am I doing here?" I questioned, slowly looking around, and I found myself in an unknown space with two known faces. "Boss?" I call out, looking at them, confused.

Why are they silent?

And what's with that look?

"You don't remember?" Luthien asks, I tilt my head, "Remember what?" I ask, confused.

"Oh, I did faint…" I look at Chris, "Umm, I am sorry for the trouble." I apologize, Chris blinks his eyes, and I frown, "What?" I mumble.

"You don't remember anything-"

I hear Chris gasp as Luthien elbows him against his stomach, "He means… Do you remember anything before you fainted?" Luthien asks, and I nod my head. "We were in the elevator and suddenly…" I gulp, remembering the piercing pain I felt.

"Then?" Luthien mumbles, Chris stands up, hands on his hip.

"I… couldn't stand properly, I went on my knees. Mr. Riverford helped me. And… I don't remember much." I say, smiling awkwardly, "I am sorry for the trouble…" I add, apologetic.

"Hmm, don't be." Chris says, shaking his head with a smile.

"He brought you here, hope you are okay with it." Luthien says, I widen my eyes, "Oh, no! I mean… he meant good and I was unconscious anyway." I chuckle, embarrassed.

"You are our employee, of course… we need to take care of you." Chris adds, making me blush, feeling warm at the words. "O-Oh… thank you."

I flinch as I hear Luthien scoff, "Now, how do you feel?" He asks, seemingly distracted.

"Uh… I feel fine like wine." I press my lips in a thin line. What's with me? I smile, embarrassed, and cover my face.

I hear Chris chuckle, "You can call me Chris. Now, we know each other outside of work too." He says, I peek my head out, smiling. "Okay, Chris."

"If you are feeling okay, do you want me to drop you home?" Luthien asks, making me gasp, "H-Huh?"

"You want to stay here?" Luthien raises his brow, I blink my eyes and notice Chris shaking his head as he walks out, leaving us… huh?

I shake my head no, I sit up but I gasp as I notice my feet bandaged, "Shit… what happened? Why are my feet…?" I trail, looking at Luthien in shock, he looks away, silent, and my frown deepens.

"S-Sir?" I mumble, wanting to know.

Luthien shrugs, "Ask, Chris." He says, I nod and check my bandaged feet. "You really don't remember how this happened?" Luthien asks me, and I frown, shaking my head.

Why does it feel like I am missing something very important?

Did I really forget something? But it doesn't feel like I did. I feel good and pretty much normal, apart from my bandaged feet that seem to be in pain.

"It's fine. Don't ponder too much over it." He starts, I nod, sitting quietly.

I sigh, "Hey, you can take a few days' leave. Until that heals." I look up, his words bringing me comfort, I nod, feeling my chest flutter, clearing my throat. "T-Thank you…boss."

"Luthien. It's past work time."

He smiled.

He fucking smile at me!

Am I dreaming or what? I yelp, he frowns at me, but I smile awkwardly.

I caress my thigh that I had pinched just now as it was throbbing in pain. I watch him go through his stuff, he walks back to me with a pair of his clothes, "If you want to change." He says, I blink my eyes.

"O-Oh… um, I think I should go back." I say, blushing a little, come on, don't!

Sierra, he is the same man who belittles you, stop with this tingles and flutter!

"But then… stay."

My eyes widened, "What?"

"You… probably are all by yourself and your feet are hurt." Luthien says, making me wonder, he is right though…how am I supposed to manage with my feet unavailable?

"How bad is it? I don't even remember how I ended up this way." I mumble, conflicted.

"It's not that bad, Sierra." I gasp, hearing my name from his mouth felt different, I look down, clearing my throat, I am not ok.

I am not really okay with this!

Fucking tingles!

Fuck the butterflies!
