Oof.
Tired was an understatement.
My body ached at the cellular level or so, hah.
I get in the elevator. The first step startles me as I take in the pair of shoes. I gasp, looking up, but it wasn't him, but his secretary. "Oh." I mumble, bowing my head as he smiles back. I walk in, standing beside him.
"So, how is work?"
I look up, "Um, it's going good, I like working here." I mumble, smiling a little, and he nods. "By the way, I am Chris Riverford, his secretary." He introduces himself, I nod, "And I am Sier-"
"I know." He chuckles, I flush red and smile awkwardly.
"Um, so… did he leave already?" I ask, looking ahead, Chris chuckles, and I look at him, "No.. was just curious. Since you are alone." I add, trying to justify myself.
"Hm, he left early."
I nod, we stand silently as the elevator moves down, but suddenly I yelp, my stomach hurts as I clutch my stomach, dropping to my knees. Chris gasps, "Hey, what's going on? You okay?" he holds me, and I groan; the pain intensifies.
"My ugh- stomach… what's happening?" I barely made sense, struggling with my thoughts, struggling to breathe as I feel my body throbbing, "Miss, Damaris!"
"Wait… it…" I clutch his hand, gasping for air as I feel an electric sensation surging through my body, "I-I… can't… help…" I hold him tighter, my eyes blurring while Chris grows anxious at my state, and suddenly the elevator dings open.
He helps me up, I lean onto him, gasping for air as my body grows hotter and sweaty, "It's w-weird…" I stutter, he helps me to the couch by the lobby, I grow limp, falling on the couch.
Third Pov
Chris gasps, trying to wake her up, but seeing her so cold and down, he panics. He dials for an ambulance, but suddenly Sierra jolts up, her face blank and eyes void of anything, "...need to go."
The faint bluish shade in her iris goes unnoticed. She stands up, rushing out, while Chris freezes, blinking his eyes. He runs after her, the phone line gets connected, "Hello? What's the emergency?"
Chris cuts the call, rushing out after Sierra, baffled and astonished.
"Wait, Miss Damaris!"
He runs, catching up to her as he grabs her, "Where are you running to? Are you okay?"
"He needs me… needs me, let go." She goes on, looking blank as she struggles to free herself, "Who?" Chris asks, worried yet weirded out.
As he takes in her struggle to set free, "Let me help.. Tell me where to?"
Sierra stands still, "He needs me." As Chris's grip loosens, she sprints back again, cursing under his breath. Chris runs after her, her speed way more than a normal human. Surprised, Chris keeps up.
"What are you?" He questions, more like to himself, Sierra sprints past the traffic, heading towards the city outskirts. Chris observes her and keeps up the pace.
"How far?" He asks, Sierra's brow furrowed, panting as she increases her pace, "No… don't!" She mutters, groaning as she rushes further, "What's happening?" Chris asks, but his questions never actually reach her, focused on whatever was going on inside her head.
Sierra almost slips due to her heel splitting off, she throws the heels off as she sprints on her feet.
"Fuck, Miss Damaris!" Chris calls out loud, curses, has second thoughts on returning or just letting her go, but having witnessed the sudden change, it didn't sit right with him, making him curious yet concerned.
As Chris notices the highway starting to lead them out of the city, he frowns.
'Just where is she running to?' Chris thinks, already tired with the sprint yet, keeping pace.
Soon, the trees cover them around and not buildings. Chris frowns, there seems to be something happening, his eyes squint, and he notices the car, even the faint smell, "Luthien." He mumbles, his eyes darting towards Sierra, who was already sprinting faster.
"What the fuck?" Chris halts, the scene before him taking him by surprise, his eyes catch a few figures rushing into the forest while the truck drives off, he gasps, panicking as he rushes towards Luthien, who was inside a wrecked car.
Sierra pulls the door off, pulling Luthien out of the car, bleeding and unconscious while Chris rushes to pull Vis out who was just as severely injured, "Fuck." He curses, gulping as he dials the ambulance again.
"Hello? What's the emergency?" The same voice speaks, upon connection. "Accident…" Chris gulps and realizes what he was doing, "Sorry, wrong number." He mutters.
Ending the call, he dials another number, "Need a fetch, Luthien… is hurt." He says, pushing his hair back, "Yeah, Vis too… hm, accident, please hurry." He adds, "Outside the city, please hurry up." Chris ends the call and holds Vis's limp body and rushes towards Sierra.
"How did you know?" he questions, but he frowns, watching her acting weirdly, "What are you doing?" Chris questions, watching her.
Sierra holds him close, still the blank face and looking at a distance in daze, Chris' eyes widen as he watches Luthien heal a bit, "How…d-did you?" He stutters, stepping back, and she goes limp, her body lying beside Luthien's.
Chris widens his eyes, "What?" He rushes to her, trying to wake her up, but it is to no use; she was not responding, but he watches how her hand held onto him. "What is this now?" Chris mumbles, shocked.
------------
Three heads lean down, close as they watch, "Oh my god, what does this mean?" Camille says, holding her husband's hand. "Right… this is unusual." Phillip says, nodding his head.
"Trust me… this is nothing." Chris adds, helping Vis inside the car, adjusting him properly, and walks back to the couple watching their son, "Don't worry, he has healed, just not conscious yet." I mumble, looking at them.
"Chris… what happened?" Phillip asks.
"Sir Phillip, this…" Chris sighs, "How do I even start?"
"Is everything okay, son?" Camillie asks, Chris nods. "Just, Luthien walks off like always, something he meant to do alone. And later, Miss Damaris suddenly acts weird and faints to wake up, lost and possessed."
Phillip frowns, "Something is happening… but what?" He mumbles, Camillie holds his hand tighter, "Honey, I am worried. Why must our son go through all this?" She tears up.
"Hey, don't be like that. He needs us. Compose yourself." Phillip says, hugging her, Chris looks down at them, still in the same position, in Sierra's arms, securely.
"We should move them." Chris mumbles, Phillip and Camille pull back, nodding their head as Camille wipes her tears, smiling a little.
"Um, Alpha… what about Miss Damaris?" Chris questions, Phillip looks at Chris and kneels down trying to help him pick Luthien, "What about her?"
"She… must have sensed him. Isn't that weird… for a human?" Chris questions.
Phillip nods, "I sense familiarity in her, though she doesn't seem to have her wolf." Camille adds, "Yeah, that makes it weirder." Phillip says, sighing.
"Is there any myth where a human remains connected to wolves? I mean… she sprinted all the way here." Chris questions, Phillip shakes his head, "Not that I heard of."
"Honey, let's just take her with us." Camille says.
"But… we don't know what she is. It would be a risk to take her there." Chris adds, looking in between them.
"Then, let's take them to our penthouse, it's in the city and more comfortable." Phillip says, picking Sierra up while Chris picks Luthien, walking to the car, putting them inside the car.
"You both should head back, I will scan the area for any clues and return." Chris says, nodding his head, "How many did you see?" Phillip asks, fisting his palm.
"Um, two were cornering the wrecked car, perhaps him, while one was inside the truck." Chris says, thinking out loud, "The moment Sierra screamed, lunging towards them, they dashed off." He adds.
"Weird… who even is this girl?" Phillip asks, eyeing unconscious Sierra from the rearview, Camille climbs into the passenger seat, buckling up while Chris bows his head, watching the car speed up onto the highway.
Chris grows alert, and he enters the wrecked car, checking through. He found causal stuff, Luthien mostly used. He looks around, finding nothing suspicious, and he walks out, making a phone call.
"Dad, I need a few men…" Chris says, "Hm, I will send you the location, have them here."
"Okay, yes. Luthien is safe." He continues, and ends the call, walking towards the space where the truck stood, his investigation going on.
____
"Damn it!" The feminine voice erupts through the call while two men cower, "We almost had him, but someone interrupted." One of the men speaks, while another nods even though the one on the other side couldn't see.
"I gave you one job, and yet you failed!" The female scoffs, seemingly frustrated, "Now remain hidden until I have another job for you."
The call ends, the man groans, "This bitch."
"Hey, calm down." The other man mumbles, "She treats us like shit."
"I mean, she is our boss…" They scoff, walking further into the forest.
