As the cold winds stirred through the whole night, when the cold was too gelid to bear—many of them were not fortuitous enough to have a home; scrapped by citizens and humbled by many.
The night felt like a baleful nightmare, even sleep was more precious than gold. The Scavenger—that title... even the poorest of the poor would not wish to bear such an eldritch curse.
The chariot of the lunar had driven away, followed by the glorious sun rising to illuminate all the suffering.
The breeze from the Farlands weaves through the trees, and birds sing in a melody; the new day of suffering begins again.
Everyone starts their morning with resplendent euphoria—while the supreme rulers are still lulled in their dreams of conquering even the unreachable stars.
Let us witness the dolorous day of Hylena again. Let's adventure, O reader.
YAAAAWN....
"Ugh... A new day, again?..." Hylena sighed out with his jaded eyes, as he tried to collect his consciousness.
As soon as he gathered his senses, he saw his younger siblings still fast asleep, holding their hunger.
He then stood up and prepared to search for food for his younger siblings.
"My only opulence, I promise, I will give you food... even if it means gambling with the angel of death itself," Hylena said to Charles and Sophia before leaving his only heaven.
As he closed the door, he then started to walk out, searching for food. Passing empty trash cans, he found nothing.
Trash can after trash can he opened, only inedible food was found.
He then walked to the pavement, while the people passing by looked at him with disgust.
He must fight shame to bring food for his younger siblings—disgusted and humbled by many, it was like sustenance for him.
As he searched for food, he saw a bakery—the fresh aroma from it, the freshly baked bread... made his stomach growl, as he hadn't eaten for two days.
As he entered the bakery...
WHUMMP!!
BAAMM!!!
"Agh!..." Hylena was kicked out of the bakery, landing hard on the ground.
"Don't you ever return here again!" the bakery shop owner yelled at Hylena— the crowd laughed at him. Hylena truly felt embarrassed, but he had to continue searching for food for his younger siblings.
He then stood up with an aching heart—walking away while being humiliated, laughed at, and humbled. What a cruel destiny had befallen him.
He then continued his adventure, walking on the pavement until...
BRAAGHH!!!
He accidentally fell onto the pavement after bumping into someone. As he lifted his gaze, he saw the person he had unintentionally collided with.
"Mr... I am sorry... I-I am very sorry for accidentally hitting you..." he said, feeling fear of getting punched again, pleading not to be hurt.
"Who's going to punch you, kid? I am not that kind of abusive person. Instead, I love to help others!"
The humble man stretched out his hand to help him stand, smiling at him.
Hylena took his hand, stood up, and smiled back.
"T-Thank you, Mr... Thanks for forgiving me..." Hylena said with a blithesome face—he couldn't believe that there were still kind people in this world.
"You look hungry, kid. How about I give you some money?" the man said while handing over two hundred Freedom Currency to Hylena.
"Mr... But this is too much!..." Hylena said with an unbelievable expression.
"Don't worry about it. Take that money and use it to buy yourself some food," the man said as he slowly walked away, smiling at Hylena.
After receiving the money, Hylena then goes to a nearby food store to buy some food, although some stores kick him out.
As he returns home, his younger siblings have been waiting so long for his return.
"Hylena! You finally came home!...?... With food!" Charles says with a chirpy face.
Hylena hands over the food with a jubilant smile—this chance of happening is like finding another life on an extraterrestrial planet.
Hylena, Sophia, and Charles cure their hunger with the food. They are very happy, as if they have been given a blessing.
"Thank you, God, even if you are not here."
