Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Confession

But it was good to know that she could consider this body as completely hers without any qualms.

She doesn't even have to worry about someone else finding out about it because now that she even had the permission of the original Leng Pan, her transmigrated soul has completely fused with the body.

Even a skilled Taoist master wouldn't be able to tell. That was good for her.

She finished making the tea just as Lu Zhen came from the kitchen after washing all the dishes and wiping the place clean.

"You know how to make tea?" Lu Zhen was surprised by the scent of tea in the room.

His late grandfather liked to drink tea and he had followed him to drink tea sometimes so he could tell good tea even though he didn't know how to make it.

He had always known that Leng Pan was interested in ancient culture, but he didn't expect her to know how to make tea.

"I know a little." She replied in a modest tone.

Indeed, compared to accomplished tea masters, what she knew was nothing.

"The aroma of the tea is so good and intense. This is not just a little." Lu Zhen said as he Chuckled and sat down next to her.

Leng Pan offered him the first cup of tea she made for him to try.

"She if you like this." she said as Lu Zhen took the cup and took a sip.

The taste of the tea was mellow with slight bitterness. But as soon as he swallowed it, a light sweetness lingered at the back of his throat.

It was really unique tea and the brewing was perfect.

"This is good tea. You are an excellent tea maker." He praised without reservations.

He was not just praising her because he loved her but it was what he really thought.

"Thanks." Leng Pan accepted the praise graciously as she took a sip of the tea from her cup.

"Do you have anything to do tomorrow or can you come with me to the airport to pick up my mother and brother?" Lu Zhen asked as a way to start a conversation.

"I can't make it to the airport with you and I will be out the entire day. I am sorry, I can only meet them in the evening." She really was a busy bee making preparations so that they don't starve to death in the apocalypse.

"You don't have to apologize for anything. It's okay to meet them when you have time." Lu Zhen would never fault her for anything.

" Do you have any work you need to take care of in the study?" Leng Pan asked as she had not forgotten about the decision she had made.

"No, tonight is our wedding night. I cannot go to work and leave you alone." Lu Zhen replied with a husky voice that made Leng Pan's spine tingle.

That voice alone could get her pregnant, she didn't even need to take off her clothes.

"I need to talk to you about something important. Let's go to the bedroom." She said as she stood up with her cup of tea and took it to the kitchen before heading to the bedroom.

Lu Zhen started to wonder what was so important that they needed to discuss in the bedroom.

If Leng Pan didn't have a serious expression when she said that his imagination would have gone to the gutters by now.

Once in the bedroom, Leng Pan locked the door and walked over to the sofa in the center of the room.

She sat down and invited Lu Zhen to sit next to her.

"What do you want to talk about?" Lu Zhen asked when he saw her hesitating as if she didn't know where to start.

"You must have been wondering why I am doing unexplainable things recently." She started.

"Yes, but I promised you not to ask questions so I won't ask unless you are willing to tell me." Lu Zhen replied with a doting look on his face as he turned to look at his wife.

Leng Pan sighed when she heard that. What good fortune did she step on to be able to get such a good husband?

"It's because of the nature of the issue that I didn't know how to tell you. I am afraid once you hear about it you will think I have gone bananas." Leng Pan said with a soft voice.

"No matter what it is I will believe you, so don't worry about it and just tell me." Lu Zhen reassured her.

"Do you believe in the apocalypse?" She asked a simple question but she was actually very nervous.

Her hands placed on her knees were sweating with all the anxiety she was experiencing.

She didn't know if her decision was right. But she was willing to trust her husband. She knew he was the only person in the world who would not betray or hurt her.

But that didn't mean that she had no doubts. She was human, and so was her husband. What if he was different from what the book said? What if because of her transmigration, he was no longer devoted enough to die for her?

Hers was a difficult choice, but one she would not regret making.

"This is something that has never happened before. I think since the beginning of the world. So the concept of the apocalypse is far from normal human beings like us. But you must have your reasons for asking me this. So, what is the problem?"

Lu Zhen didn't immediately say that he believed her, but he was willing to listen and understand, which was more than what Leng Pan expected.

Anyone else would have straight called her crazy. But her husband was different. He was willing to give his ear and attention to her.

"I am saying this because I know for certain that the apocalypse is coming. I know because I have lived it before."

This was the explanation she had come up with. She couldn't say that she transmigrated to a book, nor could she tell anyone that she was not the original Leng Pan. Especially not Lu Zhen.

At first she felt guilty about posing as that Leng Pan, but after getting her blessings tonight and giving her full control over the body, she knew that she was now the real Leng Pan.
