Synopsis
Leng Pan never expected her late-night rant after reading a book about the apocalypse to change her life forever. Frustrated by the sheer stupidity of the second female lead in the novel; Apocalypse Rebirth', she criticized her tragic death, and the character’s blind loyalty to the female lead. But when Leng Pan wakes up, she finds herself inside the very novel; as the second female lead! She realizes she had transmigrated into the novel on the day she’s meant to hand over the jade bangle with a space to the so-called “best friend” who would betray her. With only seven days left before the world falls into chaos, Leng Pan refuses to follow the script. Instead of giving up her greatest advantage, she uses it to stockpile supplies, distances herself from the scheming reborn heroine, and most importantly; fights for the love of the male lead who once died trying to save her. Armed with foreknowledge, Leng Pan will change her fate. No more being used as a stepping stone. No more tragic endings. This time, she will survive. And she will thrive, even in the apocalypse. But what happens when the butterfly effect of her transmigration changes the script? Will her plans fail to keep up with the changes or will she rise above the author’s imagination and write her own story with the man who would kill and die for her?

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Waking Up in a Doomed Fate

Leng Pan stretched lazily, tossing her phone onto the bed after reading the last chapter of Apocalypse Rebirth. Frustration bubbled in her chest.

She had followed the story out of boredom and the fact that the second female lead had the same name as her, only to find herself enraged by the sheer stupidity of the second female lead.

"Seriously?! She died like that?!" Leng Pan groaned, throwing a pillow across the room. It showed just how angry and frustrated she was.

The second female lead had been nothing but a stepping stone for the female lead. A blind, loyal fool who wasted her chance at survival all because of some ridiculous friendship.

Even after being betrayed time and time again, she still acted like a noble martyr, handing over a jade bangle with interdimensional storage space to the so-called "innocent" and "pure-hearted" reborn female lead. And for what?

So that the reborn female lead could hoard supplies before the apocalypse and then use her as a disposable tool? So she could be sent outside to scavenge in dangerous zones while the so-called heroine hid behind layers of protection?

And worst of all; the second female lead had refused the love of the powerful male lead just because the reborn female lead had a crush on him! What kind of nonsense was that?

Leng Pan scoffed. "If I had been in her place, I would have told that fake white lotus to go take a hike!"

Yawning, she crawled into bed, still grumbling about the stupidity of fictional characters in fantasy novels. How naïve?

"If only she had used her brain…" she muttered as she closed her eyes.

The next morning when Leng Pan opened her eyes, she sensed that something was wrong. At first, she couldn't tell what, but then it hit her, and her heart hammered in her chest. The feeling of the soft bed and smooth sheets was foreign to her.

Wait.

This wasn't her blanket either.

Her eyes widened as she took in her surroundings. The room was unfamiliar and elegantly decorated, with an expensive vanity, a plush white carpet, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a bustling city. The air smelled faintly of lavender and luxury. This was definitely not her eighty-square-meter apartment in a second-tier city.

Then where the hell was she?

Leng Pan's breath hitched as she caught sight of a mirror across the room. She scrambled out of bed and stumbled toward it. The reflection staring back at her was both familiar and terrifyingly foreign.

A beautiful young woman with long, silky black hair and delicate features stood in the mirror. Her skin was flawless, her almond-shaped eyes gentle and bright. The face was one she had seen countless times before, but it still felt unfamiliar.

Her skin has never been so white and delicate. Her hands, which have been doing dishes since she could remember, could never be that tender and flawless. Even though the face was the same, the differences are also obvious.

Then all of a sudden she felt a sharp pain in her head. It was so painful that she wanted to bash her head into a wall and die. Just then foreign yet familiar memories flooded her brain. It took her about five minutes for the pain to subside but it felt like eternity.

The new memories made her understand her situation.

She was the second female lead of Apocalypse Rebirth.

Leng Pan staggered backward and collapsed on the bed.

No. No way.

She turned around, scanning the room again. The antique vanity. The huge wardrobe filled with designer clothes and, most importantly, the delicate jade bangle lying on the bedside table.

Everything matched perfectly.

A chill crawled up her spine.

She had really transmigrated.

And not just anywhere; she had become her. The naïve, brainless second female lead.

Leng Pan's fingers gripped the silk sheets tightly. This had to be a joke. A nightmare. Any second now, she would wake up in her tiny apartment, back in the real world.

But after waiting for a few minutes and nothing changed, she had to accept reality.

Though it was a bitter pill to swallow. Did one have to pay such a high price for criticizing book characters nowadays? It was really terrifying.

She sucked in a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down and think. At least she didn't transmigrate into some slum and had, in fact,, obtained a better life judging by the luxury of the apartment.

But if she had truly transmigrated into the novel, then that meant….

Her eyes widened. Today was the day the reborn female lead would ask for the jade bangle.

Leng Pan clenched her fists.

Not a chance in hell.

She refused to become cannon fodder. She wasn't the same Leng Pan as before.

Almost immediately, the sound of the doorbell brought her back to her senses.

"Panpan! Are you awake?"

Leng Pan's lips pressed into a thin line. That voice. Sweet, gentle, and oh-so-innocent.

The reborn female lead.

Bai Yinyin.

Leng Pan felt her blood boil just hearing her voice. In the novel, Bai Yinyin plays the role of a fragile and kind-hearted beauty.

She had been reborn with full knowledge of the upcoming apocalypse, but instead of warning anyone, she used her advantage to secure her own survival.

Her first step was manipulating the original Leng Pan into handing over her most valuable treasure, the jade bangle.

Leng Pan took a deep breath, quickly organizing her thoughts. She couldn't let Bai Yinyin suspect that anything was different. Even though she had the urge to punch her, she could only endure it for now.

She got up and hid the jade bangle in a secret compartment on the wall beside the head of her bed before going to open the door.

"Coming," she called, keeping her voice neutral.

She opened the door to see Bai Yinyin standing there, her delicate face lit up with a smile. Her big, innocent eyes shimmered with barely concealed excitement.

If Leng Pan didn't know what was happening, she might have thought that all that excitement was because she had seen her.

How could the original Leng Pan not be fooled?
