Synopsis
Venice has always been particular about who she lets into her heart. She isn’t the type to fall easily, despite the subtle pressure from her friends to settle down. Right now, she’s content—wrapped in the intoxicating haze of her current situationship, indulging in the thrill of forbidden attraction. But deep down, she craves more. Just when she thinks she has a choice—commit or walk away—fate throws her a curveball. A new presence crashes into her life, defying every expectation she’s ever had for her “type.” He is the opposite of what she thought she wanted, yet dangerously impossible to ignore. As desire wars with reason and obsession takes root, Venice finds herself torn between the safety of what she knows and the chaos of what could be. In a world where attraction blurs the lines of morality and love is anything but simple, Venice must decide: follow the path she understands or risk everything for the one she never saw coming

Chapter 1 - VENICE: PART ONE

In rare occasions would I ever find myself in a stadium sitting in bleachers with a light shower coming down on the spectators around me. Had I zoned out? The screams and cheers sounded distant. Its like having your head under water and then it all came to life at once. The cheering the cheerleaders and band leading on the field people calling out names of different players.

I spotted, Jace. I don't have a label for what our relationship was, cause I knew for a fact we weren't dating. I hadn't been asked the big question yet. We were both seeing different people if we wanted to, but it felt like we always got drawn back to each other. Situationship I hated that word. That's what my friends Amy, Felicity and Jenna insisted it was and I just said we were friends with benefits without the whole sex thing.

The game was over in the next fifteen minutes and I went down to find Jace coming right out and he wrapped his arms around me and held me against me.

"You did great out there," I said and he pulled back to kiss me right in front of his teammates. He was a good kisser but not the kind of kiss to get your knees melting on contact, but he was a good kisser.

"And? Our team won. I guess that calls for celebration doesn't it?" He says.

"Don't you need to stay away from carbs for a while for your next game in a month?"

He shrugs at me and puts his arm over my shoulder as we walked towards his car. The minute we got to his car in the parking lot I was against the body of his car his hands lifting me up to his level and his lips on my collarbone. Again, let me clarify, Jace was a walking sex god. His body count was insane but not without his swooning the woman into it first. Hence why his cover up was a date. The thing is I didn't want to give out my v card so soon I was eighteen for crying out loud.

"As much as I love spending time with the boys, there are other ways I can spend my time. I promised you a date if I won." He says looking directly into my eyes. He did that anytime he wanted an honest breathless response from me, and like the fool I was I folded. I nodded and he kissed me again, and made it into a full blown make out right there on his car.

I got home at like eight in the night. He dropped me off safely after telling me that he would pick me up in the morning. I hated being home, it never felt the way people would describe it. I had both parents, we lived comfortably, I had everything I wanted: clothes, the latest phones, a car I had wanted for a long time. There was something I just couldn't understand about my parents, they were gas lighting experts.

Exhibit A

"Venice, we agreed you're grounded if you come past eight pm. Your mother and I were worried."

"I came two days ago and told you I'll be back at eight and you said it was okay as long as I called you back," I took out my phone and showed them ,"I called you to confirm that dad."

He shakes his head and tells me he doesn't know what I'm talking about. This stunts he pulls is what made me pull a mile away from them emotionally. Then he would come one hour later to my room and tell me that he was so busy that it had slipped his mind and would expect me to forgive him like nothing happened. My mom on the other hand was the passive kind. She just agrees to what my dad said, what he said was what goes.

I get to my room and I put on my lights and plopped myself on my bed and sighed. I showered and wanted to head to bed, it had been a long day and I just wanted to sleep. I came from my changing room in my pajamas to dry my hair and found a crumpled sheet of paper on my bed. I'm pretty sure the study that had these papers was a mile away from my room. I crumpled it up and threw it in the trash.

If I had known it would start a cycle I would have just kept the damn paper.
