Chapter 17 - Beyond The Facade

Tracy was very efficient in getting everything done; as soon as she got back, she sent a text to a know-all agency that specialised in carrying out people's orders. She sent a text that entailed what she wanted them to go for her; it didn't take too long before the other party replied, asking her to send a picture of the person in question so that they could get to work immediately.

Tracy did as told while emphasising the secrecy of the matter. Please, I want this to be done under very tight security; I wouldn't want anything to jeopardise what I have in mind. I think you should have this level of professionalism, right?

Yes, you're right; everything you asked for will be carried out according to your order, and as for being tight-lipped, we're going to send proof of our professional ethics and code of conduct. Also, after the deal has been sealed, both parties will sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement ). I hope you're quite satisfied with this arrangement.

I am indeed satisfied, Tracy said. Both parties were happy to have been able to come to an agreement. Having resolved the first issue. Tracy was in between happy and sad, thinking of the influence her boss's father has.

She could only pray he wouldn't notice anything. She called her elder sister and told her about her boss's present situation and the plan they had. After moments of silence, her sister later agreed to the arrangement, only asking her if they could guarantee there would be no issue helping her; then she could peacefully go find her remote place to stay.

Tracy was so happy that she couldn't thank her sister enough; she could finally relax a bit and focus on how to get Jayden there with a little disguise and no suspicion.

She picked up her phone and decided to text her boss about the progress of the matter but dropped it as she realised how dangerous it would be if there's anybody monitoring her phone without her knowledge or the message getting into the wrong hands; they can just say goodbye to all their previous preparation.

…..

Ann was seen listening attentively to her friend's experience these past few days, especially how the blind date and every other event that followed went, as they haven't been able to see each other for the past few days, only calling to check up on each other.

Ann was so surprised that Jayden's father could be this headstrong when it comes to this arranged marriage that popped out of nowhere and even went as far as preparing for a wedding without asking for his daughter's consent.

Though she knows the man must have had his own reason that is best known to him, what was all that in front of his daughter's happiness? How can he be so sure that marrying the man will favour her when he himself is not a prophet nor a seer? Everything seems a bit cruel and foggy.

Thinking about what might become of her friend if she should blindly go ahead with the wedding, Ann also agreed that she needed to escape this toxic situation before it was too late. She supported that she should find a change of environment for her to relax her mind and think of her approach to the whole scenario.

Jayden felt so happy that she had got her friend's support, as this also meant her business partner backed her in this, so she felt relieved, although she knew her friend had always been supportive of her since the beginning of time, but leaving everything here for a while means Ann will have to double up her hard work, especially when it comes to matters of the company.

You wouldn't know how much this support of yours means to me. Thank you so much; I wouldn't know how to appreciate you enough. Jayden appreciated.

And why would I not support you? Is it that you've gotten another friend somewhere else? Ann said while pretending to be angry, That's too bad of you. We haven't only seen each other for a few days. You've run to find someone else behind my back, right? She asked with a teasing smile.

No, there is nobody anywhere, really. You know you've always and will always be my ride or die. Jayden said.

Well, or that we changed when you turned into a lover girl; you might even fall in love with your CEO husband. You know anything can happen. Ann said mischievously.

Which husband? You must have been delusional. I can't even wrap my head around marrying that man and spending the rest of my life with him. Thank goodness I'll soon leave here.

What if you also meet him where you're running to? What will you do? Hmmm.

Haha, that's not even possible. How many coincidences do you think are in the world? That's a remote country, madam. Stop being mischievous here; don't ruin things for me. Okayyy?

Yes, Ma, but I still have to say this: Ann walked up to Jayden and held her hand while looking into her face. There's no need to say the word thanks when it comes to us; we've come a long way together and survived so many battles together, so let's chill. I believe we also have this victory already.

Moreover, I hope you understand that it is only when you are up and running happily that the company runs smoothly, and this little bit of support means nothing. What are friends for if I couldn't even share this little burden of yours with you? Ann said

I think it's time for me to get going; I still have some things to do at the company. You should forward those blueprints with you. Let's look into the next work we had so we can start the preparation.

Today is the day we are to meet up with the representatives of Milano Groups. They were quite satisfied with the last project we did together and wouldn't stop praising the company, as they also got a lot of good reviews from their clients.

That's a very good thing to hear. We should be able to get more deals, and it wouldn't be a problem for us when we decide to go international, having built a strong foothold in the industry and laid a solid foundation; we just need to take it one step at a time.

By this time they were already at the low-key, luxurious car parked at the entrance, bidding each other goodbye. Ann gave Jayden another warm hug. Only God knows how worried she was knowing she'll soon leave for a foreign land, but she couldn't show it on her face so as not to influence her, and also she could only express her concern.

Make sure you always eat well, sleep well and take care of your health. I'll try my best to keep the company safe during this period. Don't take things too extreme. I'll also create time for us to chat once in a while so you won't feel too lonely. Remember you're doing well for yourself in everything, even career-wise.

Madam advisor, I heard you. I'll try my best, okay? Jayden said while Ann got in the car and drove out, Jayden kept waving her until she could no longer be seen.

She seems a little unhappy, as she didn't know when next they'll see each other, but she believed this is for the best; at least they'll just chat on a video call. Thinking about that, she didn't know whether or not she should change her SIM so her father wouldn't be able to track her easily.

She heaves a sigh and enters back inside to organise her things, as she can leave at any moment her replacement is seen.
