Chapter 22 - Hidden Alliance

Thank you, sister. I really appreciate it. I hope you'll have sorted everything out before she leaves here so we can be rest assured that all will go as planned.

Hmm, she doesn't really have anything she's waiting for; it's just that we haven't been able to get all that we needed into an inconspicuous location. The tension that's going on here is on a higher level, and Mr Cole makes sure to keep a tight watch on us all.

Yes, I'll try to get across to Lucy. If she could be of help, I'd be more than happy. At least Miss Jayden would have boarded the plane and got there, then we can surely face Mr Cole's wrath; I believe he won't take it lightly.

Thank you so much, my dear Stephanie. Your advice is very much appreciated, and your words of encouragement aren't taken lightly. Yes! I won't let the pressure get to me; everything should be sorted out soon. I'll give you a call once we make it through these trying times.

Tracy dropped the phone once and had the busy tone from the other side. She sighed. Things are really becoming more overwhelming these days; it felt as if Mr Cole already got a wind of what was being planned, or else why would he have brought forward the wedding preparations? The man is really something else. What a piece of a headache! Tracy lamented.

How can someone be so eager to sell their daughter off? The silent battle between father and daughter is becoming more unsightly to see than ever.

Mr Cole even went ahead to Jayden's apartment with a bunch of famous designers to take her measurements for the wedding dresses, not caring to inform her, knowing how well Jayden cherishes her personal space.

Now he had done everything in an overbearing manner, and the gunpowder has been lit!

At this point, Jayden dare not do everything in a high-profile manner. She reluctantly accepted the designers since she knew in her mind that she wouldn't be wearing it anyway, so why bother?

The only thing she made sure of was to put on a tough front for her father to see so as not to suspect anything and give her more time to prepare.

Tracy couldn't help but applaud her boss's mentality and ability to endure. If not for her tenacious heart, how could she just grit her teeth and overlook all those things?

Tracy sent an encrypted message to her junior sister Lucy to avoid trafficking while also keeping the explanation as brief as she could and asked Lucy if at all she could be of any help in getting a remote place for the location they are in need of.

All this while she hasn't taken the initiative of messaging her because of how weird she is, always appearing and disappearing whenever she likes; if not for Stephanie's call, she would still have been hung up on how to successfully carry out her boss's order.

Sighing melancholy, she felt like she had pulled all her family into this mess, but it's fine in as much as they could be of help and not get harmed; she knew in her heart that even if they got exposed, they each had the ability to protect themselves.

Minutes after the message had been delivered, the other party replied in an overbearing manner, I don't want to get involved in your boss's mess; it's none of my concern!

Tracy felt a pang in her heart as she read this. How can her younger sister be this rude and condescending? Will it kill her to lend a helping hand? What a weird little girl.

Despite all the thoughts running through her mind, Tracy has no choice but to grit her teeth and persuade her to accept, even if it's a little, so the burden on Tracy can be lightened.

Lucy sent another message, but this time a bittersweet one. Taking into consideration how she had treated you all these years, I'll reluctantly help, but I don't know when – I'm busy right now. Send the proper information on how you guys want things to be done so I can understand the situation.

Tracy heaved a sigh when she read the beginning, not until she reached where Lucy said she didn't know when she'd help, but there's hope since she asked for detailed information.

That younger sister of hers is really too mysterious; if not for Stephanie, who reminded her to contact her, she wouldn't have done so. That lady loves disguising herself so well, even taking the identity of a man. Well, she's quite capable and has achieved a lot for a lady of her age.

But no one seems to know the nature of her job or where she works; she only put their minds at ease by saying it's legal and not some black market or underworld involvement. Even if it is, no one is capable of changing her mind once it's fixed on something.

Having compiled very detailed information, Tracy sent it out while also hoping she'd reply once she read through it for her to confirm when she'll help.

She kept pacing around her mini office; the well-organised and properly furnished space is a huge contrast to all that is going on behind the scenes.

At least the company still retains the look and elegance of one of the best-renowned designers in the country. The work atmosphere is still much effective; everyone seems to know that something is going on, but they made sure not to allow it to disturb their job, though it's not possible in the presence of Miss Ann unless one is ready to be fired.

Currently in the whole company, only one place gives off a worried and impatient aura, and that's Tracy's mini office. Although she had a lot of work to attend to, she found it extremely unimportant at that moment and kept on refreshing the message page on her system, but nothing was coming in.

This young sister of hers is really annoying. If she knows she's not helping, why promise? And if she is, why delay?

Finally, when Tracy has reached the end of her limit to endure a message popping up, she hurriedly opens it.

" Will reach out with all you need tomorrow. Bye."

Tracy could imagine the facial expression she'd had when typing this, but it was fine; at least she could now focus on work and look forward to tomorrow.

God, I'm grateful! If this girl should do as she says, which I know she will, then all these will be resolved in a few days. Tracy thought to herself with a grin.

She patted her chest to release the pent-up emotion she'd been holding in for hours. She checked the time and realised she had waited a good 5 hours before the great Mount Tai could move.

Without slacking off, she got back to work almost immediately with renewed energy and hope, thinking to herself to get every other thing done before tomorrow so she can focus on the escape plan and carry it out effectively, informing Miss Jay once everything is settled will be better. Tracy thought to herself.
