Chapter 21 - woke up

---

Inside the GDA, in the medical rooms, Henry was currently near the room where Eve's surgery was taking place. He was using his X-ray vision to observe the situation. He stood against the hallway wall, watching as the doctors performed the surgery. Henry held Eve's phone, and the screen was calling. The phone case was pink with cute details.

Bip-bip-bip.

Henry decided to answer, thinking it was probably someone worried about her safety. He picked up the phone.

'Hello, who is this?' Henry asked calmly, knowing Eve was in a safe place at that moment.

He heard a deep voice coming from the phone.

'Where is my daughter? What did you do to her?' It was Adam Wilkins, Eve's adoptive father. He and his wife had seen the entire battle and were desperate, worried about their daughter. When they saw what had happened, they wanted to call her. They were extremely concerned about her safety.

Henry felt a slight headache from hearing Eve's father shout into his ear. His hearing was very sharp.

'Your daughter is safe. I'm a friend. I took her to a safe place,' Henry said, trying to reassure Eve's father.

Adam felt relieved knowing his daughter was safe but became angry upon hearing there was a 'guy' around her.

'I want to talk to her,' said Adam.

Eve's mother, Betsy, was next to him, listening to the conversation.

'Thank you for what you did. We saw everything on TV,' Betsy said.

'It was nothing. It's just my job. I'm sorry, ma'am, but your daughter isn't awake right now. She's still in surgery. But when she wakes up, I'll let you know. I need to hang up now. Goodbye.'

'Wait...'

Henry didn't wait and hung up on Eve's father.

While speaking with Eve's family, Henry kept his focus on the surgery. He was watching carefully to ensure none of the scientists would take any blood samples for experiments. Knowing Cecil, it was very possible he'd do something like that.

Henry leaned against the corner of the wall and waited for Eve's surgery to end. It would take some time.

His aunt, Holly, was at the GDA and came to see him. She had seen everything that had happened.

She found him sitting on the floor outside the door, waiting. She brought him some food and drinks from the cafeteria.

'Henry, I brought this for you,' said Holly, handing him a tray of food.

Henry had been waiting for at least an hour and was really hungry.

'Thanks, Aunt Holly,' said Henry gratefully.

'It's nothing,' Holly ruffled his hair and stayed with him for a while. However, she couldn't stay too long because Cecil called her for a mission.

'Goodbye, Henry. You need to introduce me to your little girlfriend sometime.'

'She's not my girlfriend, Aunt Holly,' said Henry, turning his face in embarrassment.

'Really? Doesn't seem like it... haha,' Holly laughed at his reaction and left.

After a while, Henry's team showed up. Duplicate and Robot arrived and kept him company.

'I heard what happened. How is she?' asked Robot, in his usual monotone.

'I don't know yet,' replied Henry.

'I hope she gets better. We're missing girls in this team...' said Duplicate.

They spent some time with Henry talking, but at some point, Cecil arrived.

'I need you guys for a mission,' said Cecil, who had just arrived. He sent Duplicate and Robot on the mission and stayed with Henry.

Cecil sat next to Henry and started talking to him.

'I saw everything. Where did you leave that thing?' asked Cecil.

'Are you talking about that monster? I left it on the moon. It won't be a problem if that's what you want to know,' replied Henry with an unreadable expression.

'On the moon?' asked Cecil, surprised.

'Yes... I didn't tell you, but I can survive in space.'

'Actually, you haven't told me many things. You never said where you're from or what species you are.'

Henry looked at Cecil and replied.

'I'm not sure if I trust you, but I'm not the same species as him, if that's what you want to know,' said Henry.

Cecil studied him and analyzed his response.

'Can I trust what you said?' asked Cecil, with a serious expression.

'Of course,' replied Henry.

'Great,' Cecil sighed and stood up. There was a bit of tension, but once he heard what he wanted, it passed.

'Let me know if you need anything,' said Cecil.

Henry nodded.

After some time, Eve woke up. The doctors came and called Henry, who was waiting outside.

---

Eve didn't know where she was. When she woke up, she looked at the ceiling and didn't recognize the place. She was still wearing her suit and, at first, couldn't remember what had happened. She was a little scared. She called out for someone who could explain the situation.

'Is anyone there?' Eve shouted loudly. She tried to sit up, but couldn't. She hadn't noticed, but her right leg was in a cast. She tried to move it and felt pain.

The doctors had left and were talking to Henry, who was waiting outside. They heard Eve's shouting and strange movements and went back into the surgery room, asking Henry to wait outside.

Eve saw four doctors enter the room. They approached her.

'Where am I?' Eve asked.

'You're in the medical wing. You broke your leg in battle. You need to avoid moving it.'

Eve looked at her leg.

'Battle?' Eve asked, still confused. After a moment, she remembered what had happened. She had been beaten badly and was almost dead when someone appeared and helped her.

'Where is the person who helped me?' Eve asked.

The doctors exchanged glances.

'He's waiting outside. Would you like us to call him?' they asked.

'Yes, please,' Eve replied to the doctors.

The doctors stayed in the room and asked Eve how she was feeling and other questions, while one of the doctors left and called Henry to come in.

'She wants to talk to you,' said the doctor.

'Okay, thanks,' Henry replied. He walked into the room. Eve was lying on a medical bed, still wearing her suit, with one of her legs in a cast.

'Hey, how are you?' Henry asked Eve. He was still in his suit.

Eve recognized the boy. She had vague memories, but she remembered him helping her years ago when she first wore her suit at a very young age.

'You again. You helped me,' Eve said, sighing.

Henry moved closer to her bed and responded.

'You don't need to thank me.'

'Where am I?' Eve asked, looking around.

'I brought you to the GDA, where I work...'

'GDA? What's that?' Eve asked.

'It's a kind of agency that protects the world from villains, monsters, that sort of thing. But I'm not entirely sure if that's really true…'

Henry and Eve began to talk, with Henry answering all her questions.

Henry was still in the medical room talking to her when his aunt Holly entered, dressed in her War Woman suit. This time, she brought Eve something to eat. Henry was about to do that himself when his aunt arrived.

'Do you want something to eat? I'll get it for you,' Henry asked.

Eve was sitting on the bed.

'Yes, please.'

Before Henry could do that, his aunt entered.

'Aunt...' Henry murmured, looking at her.

'I brought some food for you, little girl.'

'I'm not a little girl anymore,' Eve said, blushing.

Eve looked at Henry and said, 'You didn't tell me your aunt is War Woman,' surprised.

'I forgot to mention it,' Henry scratched his head.

'How are you?' Holly asked.

Eve was a bit of a fan of War Woman, so she was happy to see that she cared about her safety.

'I'm feeling much better.'

'That's good. I'll leave you two alone,' said Holly.

Holly left.

Henry and Eve looked at each other and laughed at the same time. They spent some time together. Eve started to trust Henry more. He helped her get up. After so much talking, they became much closer.

Eve was feeling anxious, and it was already getting dark. Her parents were probably really worried about her by now. Henry handed her phone back to her and told her they had called. She couldn't stay there forever.

'I need to go home,' Eve said to Henry.

'I'll take you back,' Henry replied.

'You don't have to...'

'But I want to...'

'Thanks... I still don't know who you are,' Eve said. Actually, she only remembered his first name, but it was too vague, and she didn't know who he was under the suit.

Henry looked at her and smiled. 'I'll tell you on the way.'

Henry helped Eve sit in the wheelchair and took her up the floors of the GDA. Eve paid attention to everything on the way.

Henry took Eve to the entrance, up to the surface.

'I have to go too. Do you mind if we fly there?'

Eve just wanted to get home, so she agreed.

'I don't mind.'

Henry bent down and picked up Eve, supporting her so she wouldn't get hurt. Eve's feet were resting on Henry's. They were close enough.

'Is everything okay for you?' Henry asked.

Eve was shy. It was the first time she had been so close to a boy.

'Yeah...'

Henry slowly lifted off the ground and flew up into the sky. They flew together, and Henry would take Eve to her house.
