Eve was desperate, fighting against a monster far stronger than herself. This monster had a humanoid appearance, standing 9'0" tall with rugged skin, and a muscular body. At that moment, Eve was lying on the ground, her leg broken and defenseless. She was still very inexperienced and thought she could handle it on her own. She had been grabbed by the feet and thrown into a building.
It was the first time Eve encountered such a powerful enemy. Her attacks had no effect on it. Its skin was incredibly tough, and it seemed completely unaffected by pain. The attacks caused damage, but the monster was like an unstoppable beast.
What Eve didn't know was that this 'monster' was, in fact, another government experiment aimed at creating an immortal body. They had taken a man, sacrificed him, experimented on him, and transformed him into a creature with no consciousness, attacking purely by instinct like a zombie. Strong and nearly immortal, it had an impressive healing factor. The scientists had called this experiment 'Grundy.'
This experiment managed to escape the research lab and was furious, attacking people on the streets. It had already killed many people, and the police had done nothing, nor had the Guardians.
Eve was at home when she saw all of this unfold on the news. She saw the police trying to contain the creature with gunfire and bombs, but nothing seemed to work. The police had sent every kind of special soldier, but nothing appeared to have any effect on the creature.
Eve had always wanted to use her powers for good. Sometimes, she would put on her suit and go out, though it had been a long time since she'd done that.
Her parents were also in the living room watching the news on TV. Samantha had made up her mind and headed up the stairs toward her room.
Her father, Adam Wilkins, saw Eve leaving and knew exactly what she was about to do.
'Samantha, don't do this!' he shouted, startling Eve's mother, who was beside him. Eve didn't care, she climbed the stairs, materialized her suit, and jumped out the window.
Eve's parents quickly got up from the couch and went to her room, but by the time they arrived, she was already gone. Eve's mother couldn't help but hug her husband, crying with worry.
'My daughter, I hope she's okay.'
Henry flew as fast as he could to where Eve was. He soared through the city's sky at high speed, breaking the sound barrier. His Kryptonian powers had grown immensely over the years. His vision had improved, as had his hearing. He had also awakened his heat vision and X-ray vision, though he didn't often use them.
Henry arrived at the site of the battle. Using his X-ray vision, he saw Eve lying inside a building. It looked like she had been thrown and crashed through the wall. Her leg appeared broken, which made Henry extremely angry.
Over the years, he hadn't interacted much with Eve at school, but he always noticed how well she treated him in their few interactions. Eve didn't know his true identity.
Henry saw the police surrounding the area. Many officers had been killed or wounded, and several cars were overturned.
The police had seen Eve's battle and tried to intervene, but they were ineffective. They fired to grab attention, but nothing seemed to have an impact.
Grundy was ready to attack Eve, who was hurt on the ground, when someone descended from the sky and landed in front of him. Grundy wasn't entirely irrational. He recognized that this being was threatening him, and he didn't like it one bit.
Henry landed in front of the building where Eve was lying on the ground. There was a large hole in the wall. Henry landed facing Grundy, with his back to Eve.
Grundy charged furiously at Henry and punched him in the face.
Henry caught Grundy's punch. He couldn't help but notice the strength behind it. Outside of Nolan, Grundy was probably one of the strongest opponents Henry had ever fought.
Henry gripped Grundy's fist tightly and then shoved him with his other hand. Grundy was thrown far, bouncing on the ground, destroying the asphalt and several cars in his path.
Henry was a little irritated and didn't care much about destroying the surroundings.
The police and task force stood back, merely observing.
Henry used his super-speed and reached Grundy, who was lying on the ground. He grabbed him by the neck and lifted him effortlessly.
Henry landed several punches to Grundy's face. After a series of blows, he threw Grundy to the ground, creating a crater in the street.
Each punch Grundy took echoed with a loud thud.
Grundy took all those hits, yet he remained alive. Henry found that impressive.
His face was bruised and swollen from the beating, but he still had the strength to keep fighting. Grundy, in essence, was a zombie; he was immortal and never tired.
Henry kept hitting Grundy in every possible way but couldn't find a way to knock him out.
Then, Henry had an idea. He grabbed Grundy by the neck with force and flew upward, holding him. Everyone watching the battle was confused.
Henry was going to throw Grundy directly to the Moon. Henry flew at high speed, and in a few moments, he was out of Earth's orbit, leaving Grundy on the Moon.
At first, Henry considered throwing him directly into the Sun, but who knew? Maybe one day Grundy could be useful. His healing factor was extraordinary, and he was almost immortal, so destroying him would be a waste.
Henry left Grundy on the Moon and would decide what to do with him later. Henry returned to Earth.
Meanwhile, the police who were surrounding the area approached to check on Eve. Reporters arrived to cover the situation.
Eve's family was at home, frantic and praying that she was okay. Before any police could act, Henry fell from the sky and landed among them, causing a bit of destruction, but no one dared to say anything.
Henry walked over to where Eve was. She was awake. She had seen everything that happened, and thanks to the adrenaline, she hadn't passed out. However, once she realized she was safe, she couldn't hold on any longer and fainted. By luck or instinct, Eve preserved her uniform, so her identity wouldn't be exposed.
Henry knelt down beside Eve, wrapped his arms around her, and carried her like a princess.
With Eve in his arms, Henry made a call to Cecil, informing him that he was taking someone to the GDA who needed help.
'I'm bringing someone, Cecil, and I want the best care for her.' Cecil heard this and replied:
'I saw everything, I knew you'd say that. I'm sending your team to where you are. They'll take care of the rest.'
Henry wrapped Eve in his biological field and flew at high speed. He was extra careful not to hurt Eve while flying.
He arrived at the GDA with her in his arms, descended the floors, and hurried through the corridors. As he passed by, people watched him with admiration and respect.
Henry reached the floor of the GDA where the treatments for superheroes were done. The GDA had the best medicine in the world. Fortunately, Eve's condition wasn't too severe.
Henry gently laid Eve on a medical stretcher and called for the doctors. Before they took her for surgery, Henry heard a sound coming from her. It was her phone ringing.
Henry thought, 'Should I answer it?'
