The hope in Tani's eyes immediately vanished. She had totally forgotten the family she came from. How could she forget. She expected her mother to welcome her with a warm embrace it even shed a tear of joy but the gaze this woman was throwing at Tani was eating her up slowly.
"Mo....mother, it's nice to see you." Tani started off but she shrilled. "Don't call me that, I am not old! Mother? Who uses that nowdays? She gritted in between clenched teeth's and flicked her hair. It had belong some Tani last saw her mother, even if this woman didn't show her any love, she would always have her blood running through her veins.
"I....I need a place to stay, please can you let me in? Tani said but the contempt on Mrs Smith face because more profound. "You lost the right to step foot into the house the day she fled with that lover boy of yours, just get out of my sight, you are a disgrace! Her words stabbed every bit of Tani's heart.
"Mother please don't say that.....Tani was intervened. "Don't calle that! Mrs Smith face was red with anger. "Why should I let a married woman into my house, huh? She questioned slyly. Of course she was aware that Tani might have divorced her husband, she saw the news if Drayton with another woman. Now all she wanted to do was make a mockery of Tani, and prove her point, she should definitely not have gotten married to him.
Tani found it hard to spill the words but she summoned some courage. I....I divorced Drayton." Her voice became low, but the crackling laughter that filled the air was unnerving. "Oh my, that jackass finally dumped you, it was about time, after all a woman that can't bear a child, shouldn't be called a woman." Mrs Smith Said sipping from the glass of juice.
Tani felt insulted, she couldn't believe that this woman was her mother, what kind of woman would say this to her daughter? She wasn't even giving her any emotional support, she was only making fun of her. "Please let me in, I promise to repay you in a nick of time, I will even pay the rents to live here." Tani tried to make her see reasons why she should let her in.
"Let's get one thing straight, first of all, I really don't care about your offer, secondly mark my words Tani no matter what you say you won't step a foot into this Mansion." Mrs Smith voice dropped mercilessly. "I have tried to endure the sight of you but I don't think I can take it anymore, the mere sight of you irritates me! She said smashing the glass of juice on the ground angrily.
The bodyguard who had been standing there was astonished by her rash behavior. He felt sorry for not believing Tani's claim of being Mr Smith daughter. If he had let her in, she wouldn't be facing the embarrassment right now. But his thoughts were wrong, if he had let Tani in it wouldn't have been more worse, Mrs Smith would not only bully her but the rest of the family will get a chance to take turns.
Tani felt her leg go numb from her mother's words. She had been standing under the scorching sun and this woman standing in front of her refuses to let her into her own home, she felt betrayed.
