Chapter 9 - Sitting Between Comfort and Pure Chaos

[YUZUKI]

"What fucking year is it?" Yuzuki asked hoping that she had been brought into a timeline that she knew nothing of. Perhaps it was just a wild wish for a soul that had been betrayed by the unworthy Kazuya or this was just another part of her day, right?

Then again, Yuzuki needed to get her facts right so she could start plotting against the bastard who had ruined her life and that of her family. She would make him pay, come hell or high water and just to be certain, she was the hell, and high water.

"The hundred and eighth year of the Kazuya era, your majesty," a voice said in the stance and Yuzuki stilled, disbelief written all over her face as she tried to make it all make sense.

Her head was running calculations and when she got her answer, everything began to break in the room as she threw everything everywhere in a fit of rage.

This was not possible.

It couldn't be.

Time and again she had thought it stupid that most people used the Kazuya era as a timeline.

Of course, it was probably because everyone knew that the unworthy bastard of a king would eventually combust because of his evil nature, but hearing that right now was not comforting to Yuzuki.

It was the reminder of a timeline that she hadn't hoped for, and now that she was here there wasn't much, she could do about it. Maybe she would feel better after raging, right?

'Twenty-eight fucking years?! I was dead for twenty-eight fucking years and that bastard is still the king?' Yuzuki questioned as the reality began to dawn on her.

That was a lot of time that had passed she had imagined she could have been brought back to a different timeline, but not this far apart; never like this. Who knew what the fuck Kazuya had developed into over the years?

What the hell was all of this?

Oh, but Yuzuki was frustrated even as she walked over to the balcony of her chambers to get some air. She couldn't believe all of this was real. The goddess was truly punishing her.

What the fuck was he supposed to do to get to Matsui? How the hell was she even sure that she would get her mate in this new life? Even if this was supposed to be a challenge for her, it wasn't funny. It wasn't something that Yuzuki wanted to be a part of.

She hated it, and yet at the same time, she knew damn well she couldn't be choosy about what scraps the moon goddess handed over to her. That woman was a bitch, truly.

'That damn moon goddess couldn't have taken me back to the time before the traitor betrayed me? She just had to take me to some fucking future?' Yuzuki complained bitterly like it was the worst of things for her.

This for her, was a stupid act of betrayal and yet she couldn't still get her head around three facts staring at her.

There was a lot she had to get used to, a lot.

She had to get moving and now that she knew that a lot of time had gone by, she had to be intelligent and figure shit out. It wouldn't be easy, that was something she already was aware of because how the fuck was she supposed to know what Kazuya was like at this point in this timeline?

Or maybe that was why the voice in her head had given her the name, Ayami Araki, no? Maybe that was a starting point, but then for the tenth time since she had woken up, Yuzuki cursed the moon goddess for being cruel to her.

"Rinko!!" Yuzuki called out to the servant she had kicked out earlier. That woman was going to help her with whatever she needed because clearly, the moon goddess was not playing checkers with her anymore.

This was a long game of chess and Yuzuki had to be ready for whatever was coming her way. She only wished that it would have been easier for her to figure out what all of this was supposed to mean.

But maybe, just maybe, she had been reborn into power to also test her and see if the power would get to her head like Kazuya, or maybe because she had to be the one who truly deal with the bastard who had ruined her life.

It wasn't even negotiable for her anymore anyway.

"Your majesty," Rinko acknowledged as she walked into the Queen's chambers, her hands shaky still. Yuzuki wanted to feel for her but then she was past that.

She had lost twenty-eight long years in death and now she had to start being whatever the fuck the damned moon goddess wanted her to be. It wouldn't matter that this was too crazy a test for her anymore.

She had to see this to the very end.

She had to be at her best and make sure that all went well.

"What happened to me? Why was I out for an entire month?" Yuzuki asked in the calmest yet coldest tone she could muster as she stared out in the distance.

She was still on the balcony while her servant was in the room, she didn't need to face the woman, perhaps this was because she had learned that kind of stillness for the memories of Kuramitsu.

This was a new start and Yuzuki would treat it so, even if she had to go from being Yuzuki Fukada, to Yuzuki Kuramitsu.

That was all that mattered anyway.

"Your majesty… You…" Rinko trailed off, struggling to form her words.

"Be quick or get the fuck out and never let me see your face again," Yuzuki said coldly.

"You drowned, Your Highness," Rinko said and Yuzuki turned to her sharply, not sure if that even made sense.

The most powerful women in the realm drowning? That didn't seem like a rational reason, and yet as she stared into the fearful eyes of the maidservant before her, Yuzuki could see that she was telling her the truth.

Hell, she could probably read the woman's mind if she wanted to.

Then again, Yuzuki wasn't sure just how much damage had been done to herb this damning adventure. Who the fuck even drowned when they had magic and so much power in their hands anyway?

"I did what?" Yuzuki asked and Rinko bowed her head shamefully.

"I should have been more careful, Your Highness," Rinko said and Yuzuki scoffed.

"You fucking drowned me? What the fuck?" Yuzuki exclaimed like she had been the one living the Queen's life before. But at the same time, drowning was too horrible an excuse for what had happened to her.

It just didn't make any sense whatsoever.

Whatever had happened didn't seem like the best of excuses.

"No… I mean… you said you wanted to take a bath on the borehole…" Rinko said and this time, Yuzuki let out a maniacal laugh.

It was impossible.

There was just no way any of this was supposed to make sense. Queen Kuramitsu, the woman who was known for her power and the warlords wanted to take a bath in a fucking borehole?

"What kind of psychopath takes a bath in a damning borehole? Aren't there any bathtubs here? Why the fuck was that ever a possibility?" Yuzuki asked.

Rinko lifted her head to look at her Queen who was already pacing the room like she didn't believe any of this. Oh, how Rinko wished this was just her fairy tale, but then it wasn't.

"Your Highness… I should have been careful… My apologies," Rinko said.

Yuzuki huffed. Life was truly full of shit if a mighty Queen could drown in a fucking borehole. If Yuzuki hadn't been so desperate for this body, she would have considered the woman a psychotic bitch that needed to be put down.

There was just no way anyone in their right mind would consider taking a bath, then deciding on a damn borehole when they even had a lake around them. This was pure chaos, but hey, Yuzuki loved what she had been brought back into.

"The next time you see me make a stupid decision like that, try to stop me, alright?" Yuzuki said and this time Rinko stared at her like she was bonkers. Was this woman even hearing herself?

The woman who never took opinion polls from anyone was suddenly asking for the maidservant's opinion and it was wild as fuck.

"Your majesty…" Rinko trailed off, unsure of what she needed to say to that.

This woman had really gone bonkers but then perhaps the drowning incident had really shaken her. That was the only possible reason Rinko could think of at the moment, because honestly, no one in their right mind would ever understand Queen Kuramitsu anyway.

"You heard me right, Rinko. Anyway, tell the others to come in and get me ready for that damn meeting," Yuzuki said and Rinko let out a sigh of relief before she clapped her hands and more servants rushed in.
