Chapter 13 - The Commander of Death

[AYAMI]

Yamashita kingdom was a beauty that graced the eyes of its visitors. The order was impeccable and over the last few years, since their flattening of the Fukada pack, people had learned to conform to the rules of their king, Kazuya Yamashita.

He was a good king, one that many wanted to be proud of. But maybe he was only good because that was what he demanded his people say about him. Kazuya was a beast, a monster who didn't care how he got what he wanted.

Kazuya Yamashita was a man who set his eyes on shit and made us take every bit of what he wanted. He never cared for the repercussions, perhaps because he was always the higher power in his kingdom.

He took wolves from their families. He ruined bonds that he imagined were stronger than his. He fucked up lives and made sure that they all knew it was him. Anyone would think he changed after the Fukada pack, but Kazuya had grown greedier.

He had wanted more and more and more. And he had gotten what he hated each and every time. It was almost like clockwork for him.

What should have just been monthly produce getting sent to the royal palace had turned into men and women submitting to the king, forming his harem. He had turned families into slaves and made sure that he had the best weapon beside him.

Everyone knew that the king had the perfect weapon and they knew better than to try and fight, because each time they tried to fight, the lethal weapon would be unleashed on them until they gave in.

It was a weapon of mass destruction and when people initially refused to follow suit, twenty-eight years later, they were convinced that the lethal weapon was the only reason their king had managed to sit the crown for so long.

If only they could turn the king's enforcer against him, then maybe just maybe, they would have a chance at a better life. But then who was to even think of going against the king with the worst weapon in the realm?

"Are you sure about this, sire?" a red-haired feminine voice asked the Yamashita king as he sat on his throne. He looked shit scared of the woman who was talking to him, which was interesting because he was the reason this woman had been like this.

He had made sure to train her in the greatest and the most lethal of weapons out there. She was so lethal that kings and queens wanted her for themselves, but the woman was loyal to her master.

At least that was the only saving grace for this king.

Honestly, most of the time the woman scared the fuck out of the king with how cold and calculated she was. She didn't have anything to lose. Didn't have a link to humanity. She had quite literally nothing she could hold onto other than her loyalty to the king.

That was what made her the perfect weapon and with her emotions never seeing light, she was everything any warrior would want to fight beside on the battlefield… Never against.

"Ayami. There are rumors about Queen Kuramitsu waking up. We have to be ready to fight because there is no knowing what that damn woman will be up to. If she really is awake, then our armies must patrol the border;

"...and see to it that no Kurayami warrior breaches. It is the only way out of this," King Kazuya said.

Ayami stared at him blankly. She looked like a robot, standing there in her high ponytail, her combat wear, and her set of blades tucked behind her, not to mention the sword that was sheathed on her waist.

She always looked ready to go to war. It was interesting how Ayami didn't have any battle scars on her, her skin as still as smooth as ever despite having been to the battlefield for the longest time.

She was what anyone would have wanted in a woman and a warrior, yet no one in their right mind would ever think of getting close to her to figure her out. She was not the kind to be addressed easily, let alone even be accessed.

Her team of warriors wasn't even able to get her to sit with them for more than five minutes in the name of a hangout. She was a lone warrior, and it was as if connections scared her.

Well, that was not a problem for King Kazuya because those very traits made Ayami Araki the best enforcer for the kingdom of Yamashita.

"Do we have a reason to go to war with Kuramitsu?" enforcer Ayami asked as she stared at the king. She could see the way the king was trembling but she didn't give a shit. The man could shit himself and Ayami would still want her answers regardless.

This is what the kingdom had turned her into and now, she was doing just that. She had to be the best. It was a mantra she had told herself over the years as she trained like she was training for a war against a particular immortal.

It was crazy how she had managed to get to this point and no one knew anything about her.

She was a warrior.

A warrior with nothing to lose.

A warrior who never gave it attachments.

A warrior who didn't care if the sky was high or low.

A warrior, whose only objective in life was to fight for the Yamashita Kingdom.

And who was loyal to the king Kazuya of Yamashita.

"No. But the mating festival is in a month. And Yamashita is holding it. There is no doubt that the queen will find her way here along with her people. We just have to be ready for her in the shadows," King Kazuya said.

Ayami scoffed.

It was so low, almost as if to tell the king that he was a pathetic piece of shit. Well, it wasn't like a king could fight against Ayami and win anyway. So, he just stared in silence as he waited for the woman to say something, anything.

Then again, the king could go against the red-haired woman at any point in time either way.

"No one knows what the woman looks like. No one has ever seen her, not even her people. Who are you supposed to prepare for someone you don't know? What if I am her?" Ayami asked and the king stiffened.

The warriors in the room looked at each other, scared for their lives. The things they had heard about the Kurayami queen — Kuramitsu — could not completely be processed in a single lifetime.

Strangely enough, Ayami Araki was also someone who had done so many unimaginable things. Perhaps that was what her sudden question had gotten them frozen. Perhaps it was because they knew that if Ayami Araki was the mad queen Kuramitsu, then they were beyond fucked.

"That… That is a good joke, Enforcer Ayami," King Kazuya said to the red-haired woman.

"I do not joke. If you want to be ready for that woman, then all the security aspects must be in place and in the right way. Do not meddle with my job and I won't meddle with yours, Kazuya," the enforcer said and the king gulped thickly.

He knew that this woman could decide to burn him and no one would ever save him, seeing as he had managed to screw over the entire kingdom.

As he looked at her, a part of Kazuya wanted to believe that the woman wasn't Kuramitsu, but at the same time, this woman was scary as fuck. She made him worry about a lot of things and right now, the man could feel his blood pressure rising.

Oh, but there had never been a person who scared Kazuya more than the woman before him. Perhaps this was his chance to learn about what he needed to do and what he didn't need to do.

"You do whatever you have to, enforcer. Just see to it that the kingdom is ready for the mating ceremony. Nothing is supposed to be out of line by then," King Kazuya said.

Once again, Ayami scoffed at the king who was staring at her, with beads of sweat trickling down his face.

This woman would be the death of the king.

"That is noted, Your Majesty. I shall take my leave now. Good day," Ayami said, bowing respectfully like she didn't make the king question everything he believed in just now.
