Things just got messier. Chase was about to carry me, taking me in his arms to the park doctor, until we stopped in our tracks when Max came in.
"Ines, what are you doing with him?" Max questioned.
I felt my heart pounding at that moment when Max appeared. He wasn't supposed to see me and Chase together. I panicked, but I kept my face expressionless. I didn't know what to say. I just buried my head deeper into Chase's shoulder, hiding myself from looking at Max' face.
"Ines, answer me," I heard Max say.
I flinched a bit, and then finally, I raised my head to look at Max.
"Oh, brother, you are here," Chase said to Max.
I could see Max looking at Chase like he was going to kill him. Since when did he even look at Chase like that? It wasn't as if he cared about me. If it were before, I would have mistaken it for jealousy. Was Max jealous that Chase was holding me? I didn't want to fool myself anymore. I just watched the clash between Max and Chase.
