I didn't expect to be caught here like this. I only wanted to sneak around to the highest points in the park to find out information about Gloria, but instead, I bumped into Max.
"What are you doing here?" he said, his voice agitated. I didn't look at him or answer him immediately. How could I? Should I tell him that I was investigating Gloria's history and origin?
"I'm just here for some work," I said. He left me standing there. I stayed still, keeping my eyes open so he wouldn't guess that I was lying.
"Do you expect me to believe you? Do you think I'm stupid?" he asked. I started to doubt myself, wondering if he had figured it out. It was just a simple task, and soon the people would be ready for me.
I am pregnant. I kept my gaze fixed on him. He seemed to stop his actions and glanced at me.
"Should I believe you? Should I buy that you're just out for a walk? You have no right to walk in this park. You are no longer the lunar of the park."
