Chapter 34 - Dark Farm 30

Wen Xirou sat on the bed, gripping a note tightly in her hand.

The night was already deep, the lights were off, and the room was pitch black. Where the wardrobe once stood, only dried bloodstains remained, impossible to clean away.

Beside her, Xiao Lin, exhausted after a day's work, quickly fell into a deep sleep, the faint sound of snoring filling the air.

It was only then that Wen Xirou slowly unfolded the note in her hand. It was left by the woman who had entered the office.

She couldn't help but recall... At that time, she was crouched on the ground...

The sound of high heels brushed past her as the woman made her way toward the desk. Although Wen Xirou kept her head down and couldn't see the situation clearly, she could distinctly hear the sound of the drawer rattling.

The woman seemed to be looking for something, but despite pulling on the drawer for a long time, it still wouldn't open.

Her high heels clicked as she walked around the office. The sound of a dog barking intermittently continued, but the dog never entered the office, staying only at the door. It was as though there was an invisible barrier preventing the dog from entering.

Wen Xirou crouched on the ground, repeatedly wiping a small section of the tile in front of her with her sleeve.

Her heart raced, almost pounding out of her chest. In her mind, the alarm bell called "danger" kept ringing, overwhelming her senses and causing her vision to darken. The familiar feeling of nausea surged once again.

The vomit that had already reached her throat was forced back down, and her throat burned with the sting of stomach acid.

Finally, the woman in high heels seemed to give up on finding what she was looking for in the office and was about to leave.

Her footsteps grew closer to the door, then suddenly stopped. The woman turned back.

"Click, click, click..." The sound of high heels grew louder, stopping right in front of Wen Xirou.

"This work isn't easy, is it? Do you want to leave?" The woman's voice was familiar, soft, and seductive.

Wen Xirou recognized the woman as Ms. Sun from before. Wen Xirou lowered her head, her vision blurred. Relying purely on instinct, she wiped the floor tiles with her sleeve.

"If you help me with something, I can help you leave here. Of course, this will be our little secret. You mustn't tell anyone."

The woman handed Wen Xirou a note before leaving.

Wen Xirou grabbed the note, suddenly feeling weak, her vision went black, and she collapsed to the ground, losing consciousness.

When she woke up, she found herself back in the dormitory, being carried by Wan Qian.

Listening to Xiao Lin's steady breathing as she slept beside her, Wen Xirou looked down at the note in her hand.

"Find the second volume of the Farm Employee Code of Conduct(Volume 2)."

The note only had this one line.

But, in the "Farm Employee Code of Conduct (Volume 1)," the last rule states: "This code of conduct does not have a Volume 2."

The next morning, everyone got up as usual to go to work.

Xiao Lin even couldn't help but grumble to Wen Xirou while making the bed.

"Honestly, aside from being a bit dangerous, it feels like working here is easier than working outside."

With an 8-hour workday, no overtime required by the boss, and the ability to leave when the time is up, plus a cafeteria and dormitory providing meals and accommodation, it's much easier than a job that demands 12-hour workdays outside.

Wen Xirou was speechless, "Alright, alright, when we get back, I'll raise your salary by 25%."

The 20% that was initially agreed upon has now been increased by 5 more points.

Xiao Lin was thrilled, "Eh! Nice! Thanks, Sister Xirou!"

The two of them left happily, but when they got downstairs to the cafeteria, they noticed that four people were missing after just one night.

The glasses-wearing man and the fatty, Wu Hao, and the one who had been kicked by Wu Hao in the ribs yesterday.

After everyone had finished breakfast and left the cafeteria to work, Wen Xirou, holding a leave slip, didn't need to go to work.

As Wen Xirou pondered what to do next, Wu Hao, the glasses-wearing man and the fatty pushed the cafeteria door open and entered.

Wen Xirou was startled.

After just one night, Wu Hao seemed completely drained of energy. His eyes were sunken, dark circles under his eyes were huge, his cheekbones jutted out, his complexion pale and eerie, and he walked with unsteady steps.

Yet Wu Hao seemed oblivious, sitting down at the cafeteria as usual, waiting for the glasses-wearing man to get instant noodles, while he twisted his neck.

"Last night, she wasn't sure if it was from sleeping in the wrong position, but her neck was so sore, and her whole body ached. Could it be from the exhaustion of the past few days of work?"

Wu Hao muttered to himself, then kicked the fat guy out of habit.

"Come over and give me a shoulder massage."

The fat guy, as if used to being enslaved, stood up and began massaging Wu Hao's shoulders.

The day passed without any unusual events. The only odd thing was that the unlucky guy who had his ribs broken by Wu Hao the night before never showed up.

His roommates said that after taking a shower last night, he went back to the dorm as usual, but when they woke up in the morning, he was gone.

Everyone was puzzled, until in the evening, someone opened the bathroom door.

"Ah—"

It was Tian Fang and the others who went to the bathroom first.

Wu Fei followed closely behind and, in that very moment, saw the man who had been turned into a mop.

Tian Fang instinctively turned around, trying to block Wu Fei's view, but it was already too late.

Wu Fei collapsed to the floor, a warm, light yellow liquid slowly pooling beneath her.

The man turned into a mop was upside down, leaning against the corner. His hair had already been sparse, so it couldn't be used as a mop. As a result, half of his skull was chopped off, and the mop was stuffed inside.

The blood stained the floor a deep red.
