Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Arrival in Matalop

After returning back to his home, Komaru went to the kitchen to cook the food he bought.

He first prepared hot boiling water. After a few minutes, he put the Pognan noodles in it and let it boil for some time.

After adding the required spices and salt, he gently took the bowl of the stove and let it rest for some time.

He took a silver plate and poured in the noodles. He took the plate in his bedroom. Sitting on his bed, he started eating the noodles.

Eating on the bed instead of eating on the table sure suits a lazy ass like me.

After he finished eating, he started to think about his future goals.

The first thing to do is to go to Matalop. There, I will be able to learn a lot more.

The second thing to do is to get used to my Principle's powers. I also need to learn about Artifacts, since the books in the library didn't mention shit about them...

I do have a general idea though. I think Artifacts are items which contain Caribela's or other celestial star's energy, and they have gained some powers from an unknown Principle...

Well, getting an Artifact which has good offensive abilities would really suit me, since my Principle is more non-combat oriented.

The third thing to do is to get on the leaderboards somehow. But I don't know how...Mr. Shinunaki did not tell me much about it. I do know that Matalop has the headquarters of the United Human Empire. And I also know that I can get information about the leaderboards there.

With all these thoughts, Komaru decided it was time to go sleep.

He switched of the lights and went to sleep.

The next day, Komaru woke up at 9 a.m.

"I really want to wake up at 6 a.m, but I am too lazy to do so..." Komaru sighed.

He got up from his bed and went to brush his teeth and take a shower.

After changing his clothes, he went outside and checked the mailbox. There was the newspaper for today.

"How many times have I told the newspaper boy to throw it in my balcony..." Komaru took the newspaper inside and started reading it.

"The New Times" was the name of the newspaper. It started being serialized seven years ago, due to the Grazinas Daily being stopped.

"The government have decided to increase taxes on materials needed for rituals from 16% to 18%. They had to face a lot of criticism from the public, but with a bit of suppression, the public came to a stop."

The government keeps on increasing taxes on every thing. Last time, they increased the taxes on Severor to 24%, which resulted in a huge uproar.

Severor is the common cement used for building houses. Previously, the taxes on it was 16%.

"A large number of birds are seen to be migrating from Niralkim islands for unknown reasons. The last time something like this happend was during the first world war.

"Statistics show that the number of men whose dick is more than 7 inches is only 1% of the whole population."

Was the last headline really necessary to add? Also, isn't Niralkim Islands in the west of Durian Sea? Why would so many birds start leaving the Islands?

Komaru put down the newspaper and cooked the breakfast.

After he finished eating, he decided to buy tickets for Matalop.

He went to the Gamela Bank and withdrew the remaining 170 Cinder he had.

I am so fucking poor. I need to make money quickly while in Matalop. He sighed.

He boarded a taxi for the Ticket Office in Ordivai Street.

After paying 15 Ryn to the taxi driver, he went inside the Office. He bought one upper class train ticket and paid 2 Cinder.

After confirming his ticket, he went back to Borgel Street, where his house was. He paid another 15 Ryn to the taxi driver.

His ticket was due for tomorrow, which meant he had to start packing up his stuff.

I have to first inform Mr. Shinunaki that I will be traveling to Matalop and stay there for about six months.

He picked up the telephone and called Mr. Shinunaki, and told him about his departure to Matalop.

After packing his things up, he spent the rest of the day by reading some books.

The next day, he took his blue suitcase which had his clothes and stuff and went to the railway station in Fraber Street.

When he boarded the train, a gentleman with the same suitcase as him suddenly bumped into him.

The gentleman hurriedly stood up and bowed his head to apologize. He had dark brown eyes and high cheekbones. If not for his big eyebrows, he could be considered attractive.

Without any further interaction, the gentleman took his suitcase and went outside the train.

What a weird interaction. I have to see if the suitcase I have is mine... thought Komaru.

He went to his room. Anyone who bought upper class tickets had access to their own personal room. This was the benefit for paying a big amount.

As Komaru opened his suitcase, the corner of his lips twitched.

The suitcase infront of him wasn't his, but likely the gentleman's.

This meant that their suitcases had been inter changed!

"Did I just become the victim of a fucking cartoon scene?" Komaru muttered.

He checked the stuff inside the suitcase. He immediately frowned, because in the suitcase were a bunch of black and white feathers and a book which looked like a bible.

Why would he be carrying a bunch of bird feathers? The bible still makes sense, but the feathers? Is this related to the mass migration of birds from Niralkim islands? Komaru made a guess.

Nah it can't be. The birds migrating and this random person carrying feathers can just be a coincidence. Komaru then checked the bible.

It was the bible of the The ancient Bird god.

Why is this dude so obsessed with birds? This can't be a coincidence now. The mass migration of birds is definitely linked with this dude. I need to investigate, that way, more of my energy will get infused in my Principle.

Ancient Bird god? I have never heard of a god like that. Are they the god of an outdated religion? I haven't seen anyone praying to a diety like that...

Komaru sat on the bed. It was a huge bed which could fit three people.

This is the benefit of paying so much. It is to enjoy luxury like this.

He looked around his room and was fascinated to see the luxury.

The walls were painted crimson red. The floor was made of oak wood with silver silk carpets on it. There were three sofas and a big table in front of the three sofas. Even the table was made of expensive wood.

There was a big 60 inch television on the wall. The bed was made of expensive wood and had grayish-white silk bedsheet on it.

On the left side of the room was the bathroom.

This must have cost more than 30,000 Cinders to make. Sigh...to think that I have 170, no 168 Cinders only is very humbling.

All my clothes were in that suitcase. That bastard took my suitcase and gave me a bag filled with stupid feathers. Now I will have to spend even more money to buy clothes...

After reaching Matalop, I will first rent a house, something that will cost me about 40-50 Cinders. Then I will head out to buy clothes. That will cost me another 5-10 Cinders. Then buying a good Artifact will cost me around 1000 cinders atleast.

What can I do to earn money? I can't get a job, or else I would have to stay in Matalop for years.

In Matalop, getting a job meant to sign a contract where you have to stay in Matalop for the job's duration. Most of the jobs there had contracts lasting for years.

Should I invest some of my money in a good company? No, I don't even know about investing. Getting on the leaderboard will definitely earn me some money, but for that I need a good Artifact, and for that, I need more money...

Fuck it. I will just research about this Bird god. If I find anything relevant, I will report this matter to the local police in Matalop. They can then investigate this stuff more properly. And if this whole facade is related to the bird migration, then this case will be transferred to higher authorities. That way, maybe they will reward me for my contributions.

While in his thoughts, Komaru realized that the train stopped. He looked out of his window to see that he had reached Matalop.

Taking the blue suitcase with him, he got off the train and stood at the station.

He called for a taxi, and got inside it.

"Take me to an area where I can rent a cheap house. It should preferably be a good area." Komaru instructed his taxi driver.

"Got it. The best area which matches your description is Stupart Street." The taxi drver agreed, and started driving.

After some time, Komaru got off the taxi, paid 20 Ryn to the driver and looked around.

He saw a lot of old fashioned houses, most of them having two floors.

He wandered around, and found a notice board where he saw the poster of a house being empty.

He noted down the address and decided to go there.

While going to his destination, he saw a lot of locals conversating in Solitun. It was another local language popular in Grazinas.

Komaru could understand what they were saying, as he knew Solitun.

He knew around three languages. They were Grazinese, Solitun and Colmiun. These three were the most spoken language in Grazinas.

As he reached his destination, he saw a three floor building with a red roof.

He arrived at the entrance and rung the doorbell. After some time, a lady who looked to be in her 20s opened the door.

"Hello, I am the maidservant of this house, Railey. How can I help you?" The maidservant asked politely. She had brown eyes and brown hair. She was fairly tall, around 180cm.

Komaru replied, "I saw the poster on the notice board and came here. I want to rent this house."

"I see. Please excuse me, I need to inform Mrs. Donnie." The maidservant went inside the house. After some time, she came back.

"Please come inside." said Railey.

As Komaru went inside the house, he was fascinated to see the interior. The walls were painted in sky blue. There were many paintings on the walls. The floor was made of white marbles.

In the middle of the ceiling was a big chandelier.

Right then, a lady who looked to be in her 30s came.

"Good afternoon. My name is Donnie Fresca. I am the owner of this house. I believe that you want to rent this house? Please take a seat." Donnie politely smiled.

She gestured Komaru to sit. Komaru sat on one of the sofas without hesitation.

"Would you like to have Guriler wine? Or would you like to have Tinkes Tea?"

Both of these cost around atleast one cinder. I should probably deny their offer, to appear as gentlemanly as possible.

"Its okay. I have just arrived in Matalop from Delargen. I plan to stay here for about six months, so I would like to rent this house."

"You look so young. At your age, you should be staying with your parents. Or perhaps are you looking to get on the leaderboards?"

"Yes. I have already done the ritual and got myself my Principle."

"Very good. Let's discuss the price now, shall we?"
